This is the lesser famous bridge in Lucerne but it’s still as beautiful at Kapelle bridge. As you walk through the bridge you’ll get the read (in the German) the story of dead on the roof of the bridge… beautiful paintings and story (do Google them to find out more 😅) and of course the view is stunning….

I loved all the bridges in Lucerne. But Spreuerbrücke has some impressive paintings up in the rafters. Really pleasant walk across.

For me personally the most unique bridge not just in Luzern but maybe Switzerland. Some 300 people were killed as witches on this bridge, so all paintings here are related with death and skeletons

Very beautiful bridge! I comes with vintage feelings and vibes! It's just a bit too crowded you should definitely come but pick some moments less crowded 😄

Apart from Chapel Bridge, the second covered wooden footbridge over the river Reuss. Built around 1408, it is about 80 meters long. Like Chapel, Spreuer Bridge also have paintings on the roof painted by Caspar Meglinger between 1625 and 1635. The painting represents representing a Dance of Death. This bridge was also a part of the city's fortifications and was destroyed by storm in 1566, and rebuilt in 1568 . The bridge also has a small chapel in the middle, built in 1568.

Spuererbrücke is a covered wooden bridge in Lucerne and it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city, and is known for its beautiful paintings of the Dance of Death. They show people from all walks of life, including the rich and the poor, the young and the old, being led to their deaths by a skeleton. it also offers stunning views of the Reuss River and the Old Town of Lucerne

The views from here are beautiful all around. The bridge itself takes you back in time.

Nice views of the lake and good restaurants nearby. Be aware that the bridge is not as beautiful as Kapellbrucke, but it is worth the visit.

The bridge was built in 1408 with a lot of history. It was nicely kept till nowadays. I'm lucky to see it. After walking through it, cross the road and you can see the lion on the wall there.

An old bridge located in the center of Lucerne. It is also the oldest wooden bridge in Europe. It is 204 meters long and runs diagonally across the river. A very atmospheric place by the river, among flowers. It takes a few minutes to walk over the bridge.

Beautiful old wooden bridge in Lucerne with views of the rapid waters of the Reuss. Similar to the Kapellbrücke but less busy. Worth a visit.

Beautiful bridge, I preffered to look at it rather than be on it (due to people being there). The curved beams and roof are a thing of beauty.

I've lived in Switzerland for 5 years, and every time my family visits, we visit the Spreuer Bridge. You can see their pensive mode. Perhaps about how it was in the old old Oooold days ...

Lovely bridge with very interesting paintings throughout. They seemed to be about the plague but all in German so I'll have to Google to find out what they said!

Really amazing medieval bridge with paintings showing the danse macabre. Great views of the city as well. One of the many unique features of Lucerne!

Another incredible medieval era bridge in Luzern. Although it is less famous than Chapel bridge, but historically it has a significant role that it has played in the past. It is another example of the glorious medieval culture and architecture. You can do a loop as you walk through this bridge cross the river and walk along the river till Chappel bridge and then cross to the same side of the river from you started. The bridge has very nicely illustrated paintings by the painter Caspar Meglinger which depicts the Dance of Death - or Danse Macabre, Totentanz in German. It is usually less crowded, so you can take your own time to walk through the bridge and admire the paintings.

Shorter and "newer!" version of the Chappel Bridge, but the paintings are more interesting: The theme is Death of Dance (Totentanz). Also here, you will have a good (direct) view of the needle dam.

The Chapel Bridge is what Lucerne is famous for but man oh man this one equally as beautiful. It is a stones throw from the Chapel Bridge but this one actually has the most charming mini chapel built into a turret on the bridge!!! It's gorgeous! And I love the story of the dead depicted as you walk through.

I enjoyed this bridge - it is just an interesting landmark in a beautiful city. They have done much to preserve this history and it adds much for the visitor but also, I suspect, for the local citizens who appreciate their history.

A beautiful wooden bridge. From here you will get a better view of chapel bridge in background with mount Pilatus.

The pediments of the Spreuer Bridge contain paintings in the interior triangular frames, which is a feature unique to the wooden bridges of Lucerne. The paintings form a Danse Macabre, known as Totentanz in German, which was created from 1616 to 1637 under the direction of painter Kaspar Meglinger. It is the largest known example of a Totentanz cycle.

Beautiful bridge in Lucerne! Very interesting seeing how people get into the river from down here and float downstream!

One of the two traditional bridges crossing the Reuss River, this bridge is constructed out of wood and also features paintings on the roof of the bridge. You'll also get to see how electricity used to be generated using the river's current, though this bridge is certainly not as famous nor as scenic as the Chapel Bridge. Still, it's worth a trip across this bridge (you can do a loop along the river with the two bridges) and admire the history behind this bridge.

Another historic bridge. I enjoyed the trip, I would rate Chapel bridge over this one though. If you are short on time, I would recommend visiting Chapel bridge over this.

Small covered bridge similar to chapel bridge but less impressive. However it is surely a nice attraction to visit in Lucern. The best spot is at the end of the bridge as it goes directly to an old street and buildings

It's similar to the Chapel bridge but less impressive. Still it's a cute and old bridge which is nice to check it out. It leads to the old town.

A beautiful historical bridge that has been so well maintained. Great decor all over the bridge. I feel like I would discover new things every time I cross it.
