Bumpy drive into car park from the bridge but very doable in 2WD small car. Rocks are smooth and potholes small (at least in late September when we were there). Large car park. Nice waterfall and starting point to Studlagil canyon walk east (low) side.

Small waterfall when you go to Stuðlagil Canyon from the right side of river. Just a minute walk from parking with small refresment stand. Drive here, road is ok even for sedan, it is nonsense to leave car at parking near the bridge.

Worth a visit if you’re passing. Definitely don’t go to the tourist parking. Go to the south side and cross the bridge then park & walk approx 3K. Better views & quieter also able to climb down into the canyon which is beautiful

A somewhat hidden beauty on the way to Studlagil Canyon. About 40 minutes to walk. Many very pretty cascades; a photographer's paradise.

It was easy to get here by car even though the road was rough. Beautiful waterfall, almost no people here in the morning. The light may be better in the afternoon for pictures if you want more sun.

There is a well prepared hike trail from laugarfell to this waterfall and a canyon with a few others.

We had this beautiful waterfall all to ourselves! It is not as large as the Dettifoss, but just as impressive. Since it's more difficult to get to it, it is never as crowded as the waterfalls closer to highway 1.

Beautiful view but the road is a little rough to get to. Still recommend checking out if you have time along your journey

Beautiful scenery. Don't go to the viewpoint, this is a waste of time. Go left for the parking lot, follow the sign. Keep driving after that for a second parking lot. The hike is in total 4 km and pretty easy. We were unlucky with cloudy weather and a gray river but it was still beautiful.

Very nice waterfall before accessing an amazing canyon. Turn left at the farm, continue thru the bridge and after 3 mins you’re almost at the waterfall

Very beautiful waterfall! About 20 minute walk from the parking lot and if you continue another 30 minutes or so on, you get to see the amazing canyon!

One of a number of lovely waterfalls around Laugerfell. It has basalt columns like Svartifoss but is more modest in size. This one sits just above Faxi, a much larger fall on the main river. The real beauty of these waterfall walks in Austerland is the sense of remoteness and isolation.

One of the must see places in Iceland. The basalt pass is georgeous, well worth the small walk. Skip the viewpoint, come to the other side!

Cool little waterfall on the way to Stuðlagil. It's right after the 4WD parking spot.

👍👍 I never understood the craze of seeing puffins in Iceland until I came here and saw them with my own eyes. They’re actually really cute, and it’s really fun to see different birds’ personalities. When I went, there were two puffins trying to smack the living daylights out of each other, while the re...

👍👍 Love each and every waterfall in Iceland! The hike can be a bit much for some. After leaving the lower lot and going through the spinning gate head to the left and over the rock field and up the semi-steep incline. Path is marked well. We went to the falls and not the bridge. Totally worth it!

👍👍 One of a hidden gem across Iceland. It's just right next to road nr 1, all you have to do is park on a site and walk few minutes to get there. There are many waterfalls on Iceland, but this one is surely one of the most beautiful, yet not so popular!
