This resort is a trap! 252 steps (literally) going down and you have no choice but to stay where you are because you have to go up 252 steps again. Imagine that! Catch is that they don't indicate that in their website to give warnings that seniors and those that's not too healthy will find it difficult. It just surprised us when we got there. Plus the prices of food in their restaurant is another bait, super expensive, prices are not fair, food is not that good for its price. Prices of their accomodation are also expensive, nevertheless we booked a stay there because maybe the resort will be nice and the room will be cozy as I saw in the pictures. But to my surprise, it's also not worth its price. Their room is not clean, especially in the bathroom. The sink is not clean, there's a lot of scaly watermarks, even on the glass divider. Over all it's really disappointing. Very much not recommendable! We will never come back.

The setting is beautiful, but you have to go down a hundred steps from the car park to the reception. There is an entertainment room on the second floor and the food is reasonably priced. Free canoeing and snorkelling facilities available to borrow. But be careful as their pool drains directly onto the beach where you snorkel. We left our phones and cameras near the hotel steps to the beach and my camera got soaked from the water draining from the swimming pool. It cost me hundreds of dollars to repair me camera. I could have stayed here for a few nights for the cost of the repairs. The environment is beautiful, the management is rough.

The stairs are hell, and i understand that it puts off many people. But the staff was friendly, food was alright although super overpriced, pool was nice and deep but cold. Location though is awesome. You just swim right in front of the hotel and you get all these corals and all this wildlife, turtles, fishes, sea snakes and corals. Absolutely great. Also, great sunset to see from the top or from your room even.

Honest Review and Reasons why not to choose Altamare Dive and Leisure Resort based on our experience. 1. Our room was not available at 2 PM. It was until 3 PM when it was available. No drinks or food was offered to compensate for our waiting time. They just advised that they will consider us for late check out at 1 PM the next day. This is not to compensate us but it is what we have paid for. 2. No welcome drinks, use of kayaks, and snorkeling mask offered (unlikely on what is posted on their website.) 3. Too many accommodations for day tour. 4. Poor bathroom - shower head not functioning due to broken switch, hot and cold water were also not functioning properly. The flush is leaking making the floor messy. 5. Floors were made from wood. Footsteps and noise from above were easily heard that making our stay uncomfortable and terrible. 6. For the breakfast, servings for the added bacon were too little around 4-5 strips were served. 7. We have requested our breakfast to be packed and it was packed in a broken microwaveable container. 8. No water supply during our check-out time. Upon informing the front desk, they offered to extend our check-out time another hour until the water supply was fixed. But since we are very very disappointed in our stay. We were forced to use the public rooms, so we can check ASAP.

Stayed this Holy week 2022 hoping to have a relaxing weekend with my sister. The resort was way understaffed but is understandable since the recent pandemic. No staff helped us in carrying our things from the parking going down the 250+ steps. The rooms were clean and gives a cozy atmosphere with a beautiful beach view on our balcony. It is also a great diving spot as the water is very clear but if you want to have a beach shore with white sand, I highly refer calatagan or nasugbu instead because the beach shore here is full of rocks. My main concern is the staffs. I would highly advise to improve their management especially the staffs (specifically those assigned at the restaurant) because some of them were hostile towards us. They are hard to speak to as they seem to choose the guests that they would accomodate (from our experience, they were hospitable, and kindly accommodated the guests who gives tips). The menu (they only have 2 menu book available only at the bar area) was very limited with only 2 appetizers, 2 soups, 2 pastas, 4 rice meals to choose from (and sometimes, the foods are out of stock) by the way, every meal costs about 300-700 per pax, excluding the “paluto”. The tables provided at the restaurant are not enough for the amount of guests that they are accommodating. When we tried to have dinner at the restaurant, there were no available table hence we asked the staff if we can have it delivered to our room. At first, the staff told us that they don’t have room service, and if we would like, we can have the food as a take out, (which we found out as a lie considering the room besides us got room serviced and we also heard one of the guest requesting room service), and I believe it is because they don’t like to climb the stairs just to go back and forth from the restaurant towards the rooms.

It's a TRAP It was a 2 nights 3 days stay in this resort and we were really looking forward to it for a nice short break from a busy city life. PROS 1. Room is spacious 2. Good view from the balcony (although staying on 6th floor, climbing up and down was a challenge everytime) 3. Restaurant is nicely located overlooking the ocean 4. There were a couple of friendly staffs 5. If you want a good exercise to strengthen your lungs and legs, this resort is for you! Haha Now, down to the CONS. It is literally a TRAP 1. Overly priced menu. Minimum price per viand is about P400 but the portions are really small and quality is terrible. I would happily pay for this price but it is not justified at all. Beef ragu P450 was just 5 pcs of chewy, tough beef cubes in sauce with 3 strips of baguio beans not to mention they ran out of mashed potato so they replaced it with rice, Steamed Tilapia in soya sauce and ginger P600 was just sad looking fish with tiny pieces of julienne cut ginger. We also tried their umami fried chicken @P495, fish and chips @P405, calamares @P385, grilled pork belly @P375 and grilled prawns @P450 were all just OK. 2. Most staffs will make you feel you are not welcomed. I think the word HOSPITALITY does NOT apply here, atleast to what we have experienced. Most walk past without even a "hello". 3. Nobody to help with our bags. Having climbed all the way down the 250 or so steps to get to reception, we were told our room was back up top. We asked if someone could help us and we were assured that our case would be carried up for us. After more than an hour of no movement, I carried it up myself, past several unconcerned staff. 4. Heater in our shower was not working. Raise this concern to front desk but were not addressed nor attended. 2 days of cold water showers. 5. Lastly, a big pile of shrimp heads, used plates and bowls infested with ants and flies were left outside the hallway from morning til evening and not being attended to until we told the front desk. Overall, bring and spend your money somewhere else. I hope that the management will take this as a constructive feedback, improve their service and train their staffs.

Rating my personal experience at Alta Mare a 4 out 5. For anyone who is looking for a resort, snorkeling and diving spot that is close to the Metro, Altamare is the next best location to book as this place is wonderfully located in Mabini, Batangas and the drive only took us about 2.5 hours from Manila. One of the major reason why I am missing one star is because… - This place is not pregnant or PWD friendly. The stairs leading to the main lobby is physically taxing. Unfortunately there is no other way to get to the lobby or our personal room but to take the stairs. So NO, the place is not wheel chair accessible. Let alone if you are 6 or 7 or 8 or 9 months pregnant, taking the 250 plus stairs up and down is a real challenge. So being pregnant myself, we ended up staying at the resort for the rest of our stay without leaving the premises. However, I would also like to highlight couple of reasons why Altamare is plausible enough to be recommended: - CUSTOMER SERVICE IS BEYOND GREAT. I did mention about the arduous stairs. However, the resort prepared for this by providing people who will escort and assist you with your luggages from the main entrance to your room. We were also checked in and checked out efficiently. - My sister forgot her diving fins and the staff were so nice to send it to Manila personally. - The restaurant serves variety of dishes and drinks (we super adore their fresh fruit shakes served all day long) - The front desk staff arranged our boat ride to do island hopping and snorkeling/diving to nearby spots (cost to rent the boat is P4500.00) - Resort offers complimentary use of snorkeling devices and kayak boat - The snorkeling spot next to Alta Mare resort is a must see (wayyy too nice) - Awesome breakfast variety

I went to Altamare for a company planning and the place did not disappoint. The view was amazing, the rooms looked nice, the staff were very friendly, and the food was great. My two biggest knocks would be that the place could use some maintenance, for example our bathroom door was missing the latch. The other one is you need to climb down a massive amount of stairs going there, and up to get to their parking area. Overall though the positives far outweigh the negatives and I would seriously consider going back with my family this time.

Room was comfortable, bathroom had automatic water heater in the shower. The steps weren't so bad. Staff offered to carry my mom up the stairs because she is a stroke survivor. We have a concern upon check out. We secured all our things and staff helped carry them to the van. But upon checking our things back at home, we were missing a customized inner tube. It was lost along the way by staff in between the room and the parking lot. I hope they can find it for us.

Altamare is a great resort! Rooms are relatively cheap, staff is very responsive and helpful, ambience is wonderful. The only thing I didn’t enjoy about the place is its food choices - so few choices and a bit on the expensive side. Also, there’s a 250 step stairway from the parking to the resort itself - try not to forget anything in the car. Relatively easy going up. It’s the way back up that’s challenging

Highly recommended. Reasons for recommendation: 1· The hotel offers free parking. Although the parking lot is a bit dangerous, it is relatively spacious. 2· The hotel provides complete toiletries and free water, and is very clean. It is a split-type air conditioner with very little noise. 3· There is a wide variety of food options at reasonable prices. 4· Luggage handling is provided whether you are checking in or leaving, some hotels only provide it when checking in. 5 The hotel is very close to the beach, the water is very clear, and it is an excellent location for scuba diving. In short, this is a hotel that is well-balanced in all aspects and can meet the needs of tourists, and the hotel's service staff should be specially trained. It's not like inviting a few people to serve casually. 6. The bed is very comfortable. This is the best hotel I have slept in these days. Disadvantages: The sound from the indoor isolation corridor is not very good, but it does not affect rest. There are a lot of steps to walk from the parking lot to the hotel. If you don't go back and forth very frequently, it doesn't matter.

Our visit to the resort was limited to a day tour, allowing us to experience the surface-level allure of the establishment without delving into the nuances that overnight guests might encounter. From the outset, it's evident that the resort spares no effort in presenting an air of opulence and grandeur, yet there are aspects that warrant a more thorough examination. The resort's facilities stand as a testament to its dedication to providing a luxurious experience. The grandeur is apparent from the moment one lays eyes on the exterior, which exudes an aura of affluence. The architecture and landscaping speak to the meticulous attention to detail that has gone into creating an atmosphere of opulence and exclusivity. However, our enthusiasm was somewhat tempered by the physical challenge posed by the resort's layout, particularly the stairs. The steep and strenuous ascent required to navigate the premises can be taxing, especially for those with mobility challenges or those carrying bulky luggage. The lack of easily accessible alternatives might be a significant deterrent for some visitors. Thankfully, the resort's crew does much to alleviate the strain of the arduous ascent. The staff's willingness to assist in carrying belongings up the stairs is commendable and speaks volumes about their commitment to guest satisfaction. Their accommodating demeanor, characterized by a genuine desire to make the guest's experience as smooth as possible, does soften the blow of the challenging terrain. In summation, our brief day tour of the resort offered a glimpse into a world of luxury and refinement that is undeniably captivating. The exterior façade, coupled with the impressive facilities, creates an environment that exudes opulence. However, the strenuous nature of the stairs presents a significant obstacle that could potentially deter certain visitors. Thankfully, the helpfulness and accommodating nature of the staff work to mitigate this drawback, making the overall experience one of mixed impressions.

Big and nice resort, just in front of beach, very convenient to having water activities like kayaking, snorkelling or even just swimming, kayaking and snorkelling are free for guests who stay here. Staffs are friendly and helpful, that's really relax and enjoying while stay here.

Executive rooms still has this noisy window type AC compared to lower tier rooms which is already on a split type AC. Room 404 is also an executive room but the view includes newly washed linens. Walk down to the hotel from parking is via lot of stairs. I would recommend to lessen your baggage as there's no assistance in carrying your luggage.

Good afternoon Sir/Ma’am, My family and I, were booked on Wednesday-Friday morning. The resource is beautiful, facilities are great. Except the foods is not good, service is slow and finally no fruits to served unless it is shakes. Before we left we have had shrimps for our last night po. Maybe you should adjust your marketing and please included fruits, ice cream and pastries. Thank you po, respectfully your future returning guests. Please give awards to Kuya Earl and the morning staff in services staff po. Breakfast we waited about 45 mins even we did an advanced order 🥲🥲🥲

I had an amazing experience at Altamare Dive & Leisure Resort in Anilao. The resort has beautiful and spacious rooms with stunning views of the ocean. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating and they made sure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable.

Fabulous views! Lots of stairs, but we were glad. I can't comment on the location because I really didn't know where we were. Absolutely great reef out in front with very interesting fish and coral. Kayaks and snorkel gear included. We loved it!!

We had a great stay! Pros: > Beautiful and clean room with complete supplies (+Netflix) > Beautiful view > Good customer service > Comes with free water activities (do note though that free kayaking and snorkeling may only be done when the weather permits so schedule your stay accordingly) Cons: > A lot of stairs to conquer before reaching the lobby (but there were rest areas) > Parking might be a problem (peak season) > The group beside our unit was quite rowdy (which the hotel has no control over but it affected our experience negatively) > The lobby was small, easily became crowded > The complimentary breakfast was okay

This place is suitable for adventurous people especially for those who love diving because it is close to diving area. It is also appropriate for those who love island hopping and snorkeling. I was not that of diving or snorkeling person but I still enjoyed staying here by swimming and kayaking. The rooms here are also presentable and cozy, good for its price as they say.

Really friendly and helpful staff. Even though I could tell that they are understaffed due to the pandemic, you can tell they were all doing their best to make sure the guests were having a great time. Kudos for the feee snorkeling and kayak gear. We really had fun. The rooms on the sixth floor building had an amazing view and worth the steep walk up and down the stairs.

Overrated! Expensive but not worth it. Food is expensive but ordinary. Worse service of staff at the reception. Not Senior and PWD friendly. We saw bed bug crawl on the piillow. The room given to us was at 5th floor. I tried to ask for a lower floor bec we have PWD and Senior but the staff plainly told us they are full that night. So we settled with what we had. I asked if we can get a discount for our accommodation since we have PWD and Senior. They said we can only get discount for food. But when we checked out, they did not apply discounts at some of our orders. They charged us additional 500 per dog without even informing us. You will just be surprised at the checkout.

Snorkeling is a nice experience and its for free. You dont have to go towards the deep area to snorkel. They offer great food, a little bit expensive though. Overall, the hotel price is okay, the room is clean, the wifi is weak.

This place is a SCAM!!! Before anything just know that I’ve NEVER put a bad comment about any hotel before!!!! They are located very far away from any nearby shops or restaurant. They use that to have the most expensive rate (especially for scuba diving) in the country. Once you arrive you have to go down literally 250 steps to reach the lobby. The hotel was empty however they put us in the 5th floor !! After complaining about the renovation’s noise happening near the pool and the restaurant so you can hear it the all day, about the prices that I’ve never seen in 10 years in Asia, we got a new room to the 3rd floor. We tried to cancel the all booking but they told us it will be really “challenging” to get our money back. So we felt trapped in the middle of nowhere. However the following day we gave a try to the dive center of the hotel. For info the cheapest package is 230us$ for 2 dives for 2 people. I’ve haven’t pay that anywhere else. We finally took the boat to do a shore dive 1km away from the hotel 🤣. I asked the dive master if the second dive will be a shore dive as well and he said yes as it was too late (1pm)to go far away. We canceled the second dive as this was a SCAM again!

Lovely resort overall. Just be aware that there are about ~250 steps from the small parking lot where you leave your car down to the reception area. Food was great, though limited selection. Room was big and clean. A lot of stray cats though. Good size pool; beach was clean; great for swimming and snorkeling, kayaking, etc. Resort is clean except that there were plastic bottles and trash presumably left by guests too lazy to throw them in the garbage bins. Pick up your trash people! Staff is great. One tip for guest though so you don’t get a surprise charge for broken door lock when you check out. Have a resort employee accompany you to your room to make sure that everything works. Otherwise, if you find out as soon as you get into your room that the lock of the sliding door to your room’s balcony is busted and tell them right away, the “engineer” they send over to your room to fix it will report that you busted it and you’ll get charged P2k. We would own up to it if we destroyed the lock, but we didnt. It is offensive that they would accuse us of doing so. Luckily, they waived it.

This was an awesome resort for my family and I. Beautiful location and the rooms and service is great. But beware, there is a steep flight of stairs that you must descend/ascend to get to the actual resort and of course to leave. There are approximately 267 steps. There are rest benches every now and then. Staff are amazing though. My daughter stepped on a sea urchin and one of the staff members rushed in and took care of her. There is an awesome infinity pool with a great view, island hopping, snorkeling and scuba diving available.

Phillipino resort that is up to date and maintained by the mgt and staff to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. Visited in off-season so not very crowded. Rooms, food, service all the best we've had yet in Mabini resorts There small details set them apart. No charge for guests using snorkel mask, kayak. Those can add up over a few days or week, not here though, included as a great amenity, just like their fresh brewed coffee service. Book and stay, you'll be happy you did. Keep up the great service Altamare!

I stayed here for two nights with my wife and parents and I have many good things to say. Our deluxe room was great and it comfortably fit four adults. It was on the 2nd floor with a nice balcony and a great view above the pool. Kayaks were free to use and we had a lot of fun with them. The water is on the colder side around this time of year (both the sea and the pool), but still swimmable. Snorkeling is nice since there is a lot to see, but the beach is very rocky, so be careful. Water shoes are provided, but I would still recommend bringing durable water-friendly footwear. One of my favorite services here is the all-day free coffee. The resort food is on the pricier side, so be prepared. If you like to snack, bring your own since there is no snack shop. There is a corkage fee. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. Note that there are over 200 steps going down from the parking lot, but not even that can stop my pregnant wife from visiting the beach. Overall, we really enjoyed just slowing down and taking some time off here.

Beautiful beachfront resort with a stunning view! Ameneties are simple; kayaking is free of charge and scuba diving and island hopping with additional cost. Pet and kid friendly. Menu was somewhat limited but portions were large and the flavor was good. You have to take 250 steps downwards upon entrance, and then once more upwards to exit, but the stairway is very safely built and is not too tiring. Staff was sometimes slow especially as it is the holiday season but all were very courteous and accommodating.

We love this place. Staff are friendly, food servings are good, tastes good too. The room is nice and cozy. The only downside is the flight of stairs from the parking to the resort itself. Nevertheless, we had a great a wonderful experience at this resort and would consider coming back in the future. The best part is they allow pets at the resort. Our dog met a lot of new doggie friends during our stay. The diving spots are also near the resort, no need to go far.
