Very suggestive small chapel, built by the people of Erice in the 16th century and dedicated to Santa Crescenzia. Legend has it that a young Roman patrician, son of a high official of ancient Rome, to escape the persecutions of Diocletian, decided to flee from Mazzara, his hometown, together with his nurse Crescenzia and the tutor Modesto who had converted him to Christianity. After a few days of sailing north, a storm forced Vito's ship to land in a gulf protected from the wind by a rocky cape well known to sailors of the time (Egitarso or Egitallo its name) and here the three would have tried to convert the inhabitants of the Conturrana village, which stood about three kilometers from the sea, under a high rock. Vito, Modesto and Crescenzia were unable to convert the inhabitants of the village to their faith, and indeed they were chased away and threatened by them. It was then that, like a divine punishment, a huge landslide came to bury the village and its inhabitants.

Small but very pretty, this chapel dedicated to Santa Crescenza, perhaps should be more valorised. It is located on the street immediately after Makari and before the center of San Vito Lo Capo.

In disrepair, it would need a little restoration and it would be beautiful!

Entrance ticket to the town of S. Vito Lo Capo. Magnificent landscape context.

Evocative chapel immersed in a postcard-like naturalistic context...

Great position, but could be better maintained and protected from human pigs.

Small votive chapel on the edge of a road, a pleasant stop for the traveller

A small historical monument... vandalized and destroyed inside, outside left to complete decay... just a nice business card for San Vito! Shameful.

I just saw it from the street, I wasn't able to take a photo of it but it's beautiful. Located there on the road to go to San Vito lo Capo from Macari. Magnificent appearance in the midst of this superb rocky panorama! It's desert, with only rocks and sea around ☀️🍀
