This is a cool place. It is located directly across the street from the beach, only a short walk to the waves from your front door. My bungalow was spacious, a room with a double bed and a room with 3 twin beds. No kitchen, a minor disappointment, but I believe they have a restaurant (did not get to check it out). Keep in mind, there is NO AIR CONDITIONING, other than the breezes that can blow through the bungalow if you open your windows. They did have 2 fans in the room, and I was actually a bit chilly with the open windows and fan on. We had the bungalow with the hammock on our front porch, a very nice feature. Would like to visit again.

We had an amazing time at La Fogata. It is right on the beach and away from everything. 30 min walk along the beach from restaurants but there is a kitchen and a couple of small takeaway places in the town. It is so relaxing if that is what you are looking for. Only suggestion is mosquito nets over the beds. They also organised a tour for Isla de la plata for us and lit the bonfire. Of course the beach was great. But many things was wrong. Most important: the owner charged us twice and didn't want to give us back all the money his bank took as a commission. Didn't even want to split it 50/50. Staying there was a very, very stressful experience. Even long after coming home. Attitude to his clients was horrible. We have never experienced such an approach to us. Avoid at all costs.

Beautiful new hostal on the north end of town. The cottages are built for families with a master bed and another bedroom with bunk beds.with the beach outside children can play on the sandy beach. our cottage was very quiet, beautiful with many artistic touches. The beach lovely for walking. And the ocean sounds made our sleep very restful. Although our host, Adrianna, did not speak english we used “google translate” and made sure we were comfortable, the breakfast which was included, was delicious. we are from Alaska and enjoy being able to dine outdoors on the beach. We stayed two nights and will come back again.

Daniel and his family were very welcoming and helped us to have a great New Year's Eve! Location is great, right on the beach! Although there is not much going on in thr town of Machalilla, Puerto López is only 15min away where there are some really good restaurant options and a full supermarket.

Nice place to relax. Family owned and family friendly.
