My husband and I have stayed in many hotels up the east coast of Australia from Wollongong to Cairns. We always choose min 4 star and between $130 and $150 per night. Never have we been presented with such a poor quality room. First impression driving in of the group of loud, shirtless drunk men yelling at each other across the parking lot from room to room. Then some if them moved to the pool which we discovered was right behind our room. The room stank like bleach the fridge was covered in rust. The bed was tiny and not at all comfortable. It just felt dirty and in no way 4 star!!! We had a beer at the pub, staff there were nice. Booked a superior room at a different hotel, that only cost $5 more and is amazing. And handed our key back. Do yourself a favour and book elsewhere.

Loved our stay here ❤️ sweet little apartments with cute breezy balconies on the second floor. Pet friendly if you have your furry with you. I can’t remember the name of the beautiful soul at reception but she is the owner of Flick and Tick but geez wizz- what a wonderful woman! An absolute treasure - don’t let her go! Right across from the beach as well! What a gorgeous spot. Can’t wait to stay again 🥰

New manager is pathetic! He’s an obnoxious arrogant terrible service representative, the guy is that rude it’s disgusting! What a great place it was before he arrived! I witnessed him drinking beer while working and being ingnorative to staff requests! Clearly an amateur!

On arrival we were a bit apprehensive but once we met the staff that put us at ease. In the bistro hotel the staff were wonderful and helpful. The apartment we were in had all we needed for our stay. My husband on our walk tripped and when we got back to the apartment I went to reception where they gave me a first aid kit and the manager came with me and was very caring and very concerned about my husband. Gave us his mobile number and told us to ring him at anytime of the night if needed. This is what I call above and beyond. Angelina

Wouldn’t recommend at all. Unsure as to how this hotel has a four start rating. The room 19 we stayed in was literally falling apart. The skirting boards are filthy and the walls and skirting boards all chipped. The main issue was how uncomfortable the bed was , in a four star hotel the bed should be of a higher standard , not feel like your sleeping on springs. We lifted the bedding to see what make the bed was, to be met with a bed covered in stains and a mattress protector with blood and other unknown substances on it ( we have photos) We were met with the excuse that the laundry is provided by an external provider . This is not a good enough excuse as the cleaners should have picked up on the disgusting state of the mattress protector and the stains on the mattress itself. Extremely disappointing and not worth what we paid at all. Was met with a “I don’t care “ attitude when we tried to give the reception our feedback. If you can’t handle negative feedback and constructive criticism you shouldn’t be working in reception. Only positive we have is the amazing location .

Had a wonderful stay at the apartments. Slade Point is a lovely location. There was a bistro on site and all meals we had were great. Both reception and bar staff really went above and beyond. Would certainly recommend.

Extremely disappointing apartment - 2 star at best. Curtains don’t meet and don’t look as though they have been cleaned since they were put up. Carpets were badly torn up in places and there was mould between the tiles in the shower. The sheets on the bed were clean but the bed itself uncomfortable. The Tandoori chicken I had for dinner was amazing but the overall decor of the place lets it down. It seems the place has not been upgraded since it opened 35 years ago. Staff were friendly and service was very good (Tuesday night). Restaurant closes at 8:30pm. Haven’t gotten as far as beach yet - it’s dark at present, however, you can hear the sea which is just across the road. It’s a bit of a drive out of Mackay and we wish we’d stayed in Mackay itself as it was not worth pushing our journey an extra half hour in the dark.

Great dog friendly apartments, beautiful location. Awesome staff, bottle-o onsite Negatives: - Food at the attached hotel, is high price for the quality you receive. - if travelling through, location isn't super convenient.
