Literally the WORST breakfast experience I've ever had. Waited for about 10 minutes to be seated, nobody came. One white gentleman came and stood right behind me, he was immediately greeted by a waitress and led to a table. A white couple came right after and was seated without a single second of waiting time too. The same waitress then IGNORED me again as if I'm transparent or invisible. 2 minutes later another lady came out and said they don't have any spare tables. She alao said the staff member could not tell who came first so I was rightfully neglected. That perfectly explains why I had to wait for more than 10 mins and asked to leave whereas the other customers were immediately seated without any delay. As we were searching for other restaurants on the roadside, a third waitress came to us and nicely asked how many people do we have and promised to clean up a table for us. Placed our order at 10.18, we finally got our food at 11.17, as those who came after us had already enjoyed their meals and left. The food was great, really. But I'm not sure if it's worth all the unpleasant experience for a breakfast. If Asian customers are not welcomed here, you could've written a sign instead of keeping me standing there like an idiot. I understand many businesses are short staffed, but that's not the reason to hire an extremely rude staff member who discriminate against certain s, unless that's exactly what the owner wants.

Went there for breakfast, wasn't happy with the Avo Smash considering the price I paid ($13). No effort put into the presentation, flavour or value for money. Avo was just "buttered" on the bread, toast was small, and the small poached egg was overcooked. It was not a good serving size at all. Considering we had to wait nearly an hour for food when the restaurant was half empty. Customer service could be improved as well, we weren't given or offered water for the table and it took a bit of time before a staff member actually acknowledged our presence when we entered. We did let one of the staff members know about our disappointment with the Avo Smash but they did not get back to us when they advised they would. I see this place has a lot of good reviews but unfortunately on this occasion I was not impressed.

Coco Cubano was one of the last places along this precinct that I had tried for breakfast. It was really hard to find a menu, and it doesn't seem quite as busy as some of the other locations (quite possibly because the menu is so hard to find 🤔). We probably would have walked past if the manager/owner hadn't pointed it out to us. Glad we stopped in and gave it a go though... It was good... But not great. I don't like being called "Love" by the staff (just something small), seems quite gloomy on the inside (just something small), and it took until we were almost done with our meals before the "fresh juice" we ordered made its way to the table (just something small). But it is the small things that matter that make something great... And not just good. The breakfast of choice today was "The big Avo" & "Vegetarian Breakfast". Both yummy... But just lacking those (something small) touches to take them to the next level. Almost there.....

Absolute delicious food! Family friendly, has beautiful staff. And the milkshakes are fun and sweet pictured is the, strawberry kids shake, their classic cubanito, a serve of chippies and a break wrap 😍😍 soooo good definitely going back!

Amazing food and drinks. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Great Music. Im from Venezuela , living at Gladstone, and my partner and I decided to visit Mackay for the long weekend. Walking around we found this Amazing Place . While I was eating , everything about the place took me to Latinoamerica. Between the food, drinks and music for a moment I felt I was having a Breakfast at Venezuela. Thank you very much to the owner, Colleen for the great service. For sure a place that I will visit in my next trip. 100% recommend.

Not gonna lie probably one of the worst breakfasts I've ever had at a cafe. Some staff were nice, others were less nice. There was an hour long wait for food which we weren't informed of - everyone else in the restaurant were waiting just as long. The food was unseasoned and cold and portions were laughable (avocado toast was $13). When I asked about the portion size I was told I could've paid the extra couple of dollars to get bacon which seems like an odd response. The egg was well cooked. Bit how ya goin, won't be back.

Beef burrito was good. A little underseasoned for me but nothing some salt, pepper and tobacco couldn't fix. The beef itself was very good and the service was fast!

This is an intimate Cuban style restaurant and bar with a collection of small booths and tables inside and larger tables on the street. The cocktails are good and the food is excellent. They don’t have any non-alcoholic beer. The atmosphere is great with Cuban themed pictures and music. Service was functional without being particularly friendly or welcoming and I waited about 40 min for food.

Terrible! Everything, from the beginning to the end of the experience of eating there. The manager has no customer skills, we waited 25min to have our beef nachos and tacos to arrive, when it came the food was cold and undercooked, the portions were really small. And by the way, the restaurant was nearly empty, probably 3 tables only.A big disrespect with our money/ food value. I will never go back there again, definitely do not recommend going to Coco Cubano.

what a disgrace, waited 10 minutes to be seated after seeing the sign that says “please see staff members to be seated”. after getting told we can sit anywhere he proceeded to take a seat with a promise of menus being brought out. after having Google the menu because no one brought them out we then ordered and then waited another 15 minutes for 2 coffees and then another astonishing 35 for an eggs Benny and breaky wrap and no it wasn’t busy i would estimate 15 - 20 people in the restaurant. now understand why no one comes here. won’t be back.

OMG, the Cubano sandwich is to die for 🤤 visited this place for my birthday and have returned three times hahahaha. The food will not disappoint in my opinion, thoroughly enjoyed myself with the colossal amount of food we ordered. Beef Cubano is the go, trust! The only reason it's a four star is because the wait on food the first night was quite long. Word of advice, study the menu before being seated because you must go up to the bar and order. Would be beneficial for wait staff to take orders and put them through for faster service. For a sweet treat after devouring your mains I recommend getting a large hot chocolate! I haven't had such a divine hot beverage like this in my life 100% grabbing me another this weekend 👀 they also have great cocktails and slushy styled drinks. Great with friends or with a significant other. Hands down my fave place to eat in Mackay!!!!

Only called in for coffee which was a bit too milky. Great atmosphere though and good location in Wood Street.

I was really looking forward to a delicious breakfast. Was a little disappointed with what I received poached eggs on the menu come out hard fried and smoked salmon was potentially microwaved as it came out hard and cooked. I'dnot ever had a food venuedo this before. I will say the piccolo was good so that's a bonus.

I want to be fair, the staff who served me was a trainee. However, the trainer wasn’t the best at serving either. Nevertheless, the food was excellent. I ordered beef nachos. It was so good I cleaned the plate to the last morsel. The mango and peach iced tea to wash the food down was perfect. It was refreshing and with real fruit. The ambience was great with non-stop Latin music playing. The classy decor is right for the atmosphere it wanted to convey.

For such a funky looking place the food was pretty soulless. Ordered the pulled beef burrito and beef Cuban sandwich with a Havana iced tea. Overall really flavourless and underwhelming. Restaurant prices for (not great) streetfood style meals. A lot of ice for a $21 cocktail, which was fine but way too expensive for what it was.

My partner and I came here for a spur of the moment date on a Saturday and the service, food and drinks were impeccable. We ordered two beers, a cocktail, two entrees and two mains and it was only $108 which is not bad, especially considering how delicious our meals were. Will definitely be back again 😊

The atmosphere is always nice at coco. The menu is reasonably diverse and the pricing is fair. I’ve had a few dinner meals, drinks and desserts. All of them have been pretty good 😊👍🏽

The food wasn’t too bad, but getting served was not the worst experience ever, she couldn’t even spit a word out apart from “I’ll get your cutlery” to us as me and my girlfriend stood there and waited a good 5 minutes witch felt like 30 minutes in silence. When she came out with our drinks we got before the meal, she proceeded to slam the drinks on the table with saying anything again as we said thank you with not response. If I could rate half a star on this place I happily would.

Very cute place. Food was good, fresh, filling, well priced. Coffee was very good Seems low staffing maybe an issue for all of Mackay. Staff struggled with the amount of guest. But all cafes/property seemed to be in need of staff. With that all staff friendly

Wouldn't come back, especially if you're hungry. Portions are tiny and are presented like street vendor food, not restaurant quality. When you spend this sort of money you want a decent meal. God, even the Margherita was small. My wife enjoyed her mini meal except for the tortillas which were dry.

A lovely relaxed lunch. One door in and another to exit. Menus are offered by friendly staff and when it's time to place your order at the counter used menus have their own basket. Lunch was delicious. I had the slow cooked pulled pork cubanito & choc frappe, my partner had the chicken wrap with fries. Both meals were filling and yum. My cubanito had a lot packed into it and I had trouble finishing it. I did try very hard!😊 Surprised we hadn't been here before. Out of all the Wood St restaurants, this is my favourite.👍. Definitely will come back.

service was horrible, own staff member told me that they where excited to leave the work place. Ask for nachos without tomatoes 3 times and they still made it with them, meat was cold. I waited 15 minutes for new nachos just to have tomatoes on them. again

When we approached the bar to order our food we were ignored by 4 staff who obviously had better things to do. We got the attention of someone who had left the bar area and was about to just walk around us but seemed suprised that we wanted to talk to them. We had to correct our order multiple time when they took it and they still got it wrong at the table and they told us it was right. It wasn't, and it wasn't a complicated order. Won't be going back but obviously didn't want our business in the first place so I'm sure they won't be bothered.

The fish tacos, nachos and schnitzel are amazing. We are staying in the city centre and had dinner here last night and are back tonight because it was so good. Outstanding atmosphere and food!
