We were passing through Mackay on our way south and found their Steak night $20 offer. It was cooked to perfection (rare) and the quality was excellent. It was one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long while. I didn’t want the dinner to end! Congratulations and thanks to the chef.

The place looks modern and looked after. The only downfall was the toilets were untidy and had no soap. Overall was an okay experience and would go back again.

A late decision to get a club meal was rewarded with a magnificent meal and great service. 😎

Feel I love with this place all over again this year and they definitely have the best garlic bread in Mackay, however, tonight was deplorable. Meals served in waves of mains, kids, entrees and 2 meals didn't come at all. Spoke to manager at the end of our night. KT was very professional, apologetic and offered a gift voucher for the nights mishaps. Will go again but not too soon.

Had a work team day in the function room, great tasty meals supplied and helpful staff.then stayed for a drink in the public bar 👌

Last minute dinner with my son. Didn’t book and got a table for the two of us. Ordered meals and they were out within 20 minutes. Super quick and tasted great. A+ Master 6 said the ‘the burgers are better at the grove’

First club I've ever been to where I felt I was putting the staff out by simply being there. Very unfriendly staff. Would definitely not go back there myself.

This is the best place in Mackay to eat. We have probably been here at least 50 times for a meal in the two years we have lived in Mackay. Great food, fast preparation and nice staff. One of the few things about Mackay we will miss.

The Grove is our favourite place to drink, dine and relax. The meals are delicious and very well priced. The staff are incredible! They make the effort to remember our orders and our names. They make the experience truly special every time. All the ladies - especially Shelby - are very attentive and we cannot speak highly enough of them.

Burn't & thin chicken schnitzel was too crunchy & no flavour left in it. Salad - hahahaha: a tiny pinch carrot, 2 tiny peaces of tomatoe & foreign letus that was dressed in something to try give it flavour lol... Asked for cheesy garlic bread & they gave me normal half burn't garlic braed. chips & mushroom gravy were good but thats it !!! Really really disapointed me... they used to be exelent takeaway food, but twice now ive gone there for chicken schnitzel, chips & salad & gotten disapinted with burn't thin chicken schnitzel !

Had lunch here on Friday 20/10/23 and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with chips salad and gravy, I think it's probably the best chicken schnitzel I've had in Mackay so far! Will definitely be back.

Do not recommend. New owners and change in staff make it an unpleasant experience. Lady with short hair at front desk was rude and yelling at children for standing near parents when ordering food. Bar staff rude and unhelpful. Will never go again.

We booked a table for 20 people ending up have a few drop out. We had half the food come out under cooked and half the table waited over another hour for the rest of the food to come out, we were not eating together. 3 of the people had sickness after the meals and some of the food came out undercooked, food was missing so got sent back and there was a mix up some how with a gluten free pizza base.

Tried to order my meal was told they were out, proceeded to order a different meal again told they were out. Ordered the third time and very disappointed with the meal, as were the other people at the table. Over all a disappointing night.

The food has been excellent. Customer service has been outstanding. Pauline is truly amazing. She makes you feel so welcome and greats you like a friend. We do come weekly for dinner and thanks to Pauline we will continue this tradition.Management you have a real gem having her as an employee

Andergrove Tavern has come a long way over the years. Bar service is always great. Friendly environment and good tucker!

Have been going to the tavern for years and have always had good meals.. Tonight was very disappointing.. Recommended the ribs to my son as my last meal of ribs was amazing. Not so tonight the tiny rib and sides was small enough for a child. When you pay $34 for a meal you expect the meal to feed an adult...

Great first impression, the place was lovely and clean. As it was my first time here, I didn’t realise we had to line up at the bar to order so ended up waiting at the table for someone to come to take the order. Would have been nice if the staff had advised me this after taking me to my table. Before I realised this myself, the queue was already quite long, a bit disappointing. Ordered steak 🥩 with healthy side options (vege & 🥗) and it was amazing. Steak was cooked to perfection as requested and vege & salads were fresh with good portion size overall. Service could be better as it was hard to get staff’s attention since they don’t really walk around much so the further you sit away from the entry, the harder to get staff’s attention. Overall was a great experience and will definitely return for more meals.

Absolutely appalling. The young girl behind the bar was so rude, very unprofessional. I asked to order food at the bar tonight and she told me a straight out no because it was 7:50. The bistro dose not stop cooking till 8:30 which I have said to her but she refused. Use be good pub but hiring rude and unprofessional staff is a massive downfall.don’t think I’ll be back

Was a little bit disappointed got no ice in our mixed drinks had Pork ribs very fatty .The wife had Neptune's plate steak was also very fatty .Had the same meals two weeks ago all the food was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. Conclusion you need to maintain a standard as I said we left disappointed

We had dinner here for our daughters birthday because it was close and had a playground for them, we arrived when the dinner menu could start to be ordered and it was one of the best dinners we have had in ages! Calamari was cooked to perfection! The kids had a blast and we got the relax and watch them while they played! Staff were all super friendly and happy to have a chat if the kids came up to them, thanks to the whole team for a wonderful experience!

I wrote a scathing review some 3 years ago. Went back recently, what a difference. Staff pleasant courteous and most helpful. Food was excellent service fast I considered the prices reasonable. So 5 stars these days thanks keep up the good work. Doug.

Absolutely appalling food service, meal and customer service. I went for dinner with friends and after being told not once, not twice but three times that what I ordered was not available, I settled for a crumbed steak and calamari topper. After an argument about a $6 difference on a meal that wasn't even available, we then had to use my card to settle the $1.50 difference. The duty manager was arguing it was $1 and I couldn't be bothered with the uneccesary drama this woman was carrying on with. When our meals finally arrived I had no topper, my sides were wrong, my sauce was missing and my husbands ribs had a pitiful amount of meat. I eventually got my correct order (still no topper), however, my steak was about as thick as a piece of shaved ham. To top it off they took my husbands CORRECT meal back as well and changed his sides so he now had an incorrect meal. By this time our friends and family had all finished their meals, the waitress was fried and the duty manager had the worst attitude and was rude and of little help. She eventually chased up my topper, too little too late. We left severly unsatisfied, quite disgruntled, still hungry and with a $50 voucher that we can only use at this venue! A couple of hours later, a ruined night out with friends, a massive debacle and horrible service; needless to say we will not be going back. Absolutely disgraceful!

Just a great place to drink and play pool. The staff are also great and fair.

If I could rate this place out of 5 I wouldn’t rate it at all. Made a booking for 5 adults plus a toddler for my fathers birthday for 6:30pm we arrived on time ordered our meals at 7:00pm. Got a starters of some garlic bread which came that was fine. Ordered a couple of drinks to buy pass time by now it’s 7:50pm and our meals still haven't arrived we saw people who arrived after us were getting served their meals. I walked up to the bar to ask how long our meals were going to be and informed the young lady we have been waiting for quite some time. Unfortunately the young girl couldn’t give me a time only roughly another 15mins. I then went back and sat down at my table and she came over after talking to the chef and apparently their was another 5 dockets before us and we were going to have to wait longer. By this time we had enough waiting my child was hungry and grumpy. Decided to leave and ask for a refund. And they had the cheek to deduct the money from the garlic bread off the refund they gave back. I was absolutely appalled their was no communication what so ever about our meals being late or that there was going to be a long wait. And we didn’t even get an apology!! Due to being so late there was no where else to go eat we decided to go home and it took us 10mins to cook a meal for 5. Moral off the story we should of stayed home.

Very nice meals. Great family friendly environment, huge kids area, great atmosphere. We are regulars and will continue to be so 😄👍

We don't come here often. The meals were very good, with no complaints about service. My only complaint is their gaming room was not a good experience for me.

Poor customer service and food was rather a disappointment, id take on mine camp food than what this bistro serves.

Great service and friendly staff. Food was awesome. Servings were big so go there when you are hungry. Will dine again next time I'm in Mackay.
