Room was okay. Pretty expensive for the size and quality. We went in July, and the room could not have been hotter. The window had no screen, so we couldn't keep it all the way open without letting bugs in. Moreover, the restaurant wasn't great. It was very pricey, and worse than the other restaurants on the island. If you plan on walking back from downtown, it's a really long walk. My family dreaded the walk back to the inn every night. The manager was very accommodating. I wouldn't stay here again.

This hotel receives 3 stars as the experience was not exemplary nor excessively poor. Persons considering this hotel should be aware this hotel is far removed from downtown, nearly 2 miles. Arrangements are not made to facilitate access, which means you must rent a bike, carriage or walk both to and from the hotel. That is roughly a 35 minute walk, 8 dollars per hour for a bike or 7 dollars per person each way for the carriage. Pros: The grounds and view are breathtaking. Our view of the bridge lit up at night was stunning. Cons: The rooms are nothing to write home about. (We stayed in the mansion, this review does not speak to the rooms at the summerhouse.) The bathroom was fairly plain and many of the fixtures appeared dated in nature. The paint and sealer on the toilet seat and back were peeling which didn't help the atmosphere. The rooms lack air conditioning so you must use the fan in the room, however, the ceiling light kept turning on in the middle of the night when we were running the fan. Not sure about you, but when a light right over my bed pops on 4 times during the night, I tend not to get the best sleep. Overall, as stated above 3 stars, great views, very secluded if you are a fan of peace and quiet, average to slightly below average accommodations.

Very nice hotel, my wife and I stayed at the summer house in one of the patio suites. It was very nice to stay on the other side of the island away from the touristy downtown. Staff is very helpful the whole experience is much quieter here. It is over a mile away from Main Street so I highly recommend calling ahead and booking a shuttle. And booking your return shuttle as soon as you check in because they are slow and hard to come by. (No fault of the hotels it’s part of the island)

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and had a wonderful time. It was very romantic and peaceful. This place is off the beaten path of Mackinaw which provides the perfect retreat. The heated pool was awesome and my wife and I can't wait to come back. The breakfast was definitely something to look forward to! Great bridge views. Very accommodating staff. We have told our friends and family about this place and would definitely advise anyone to go.

We Love Stoncliffe. It is always our First choice of places to stay when we are on MACKINAC. We just returned home from the island, but, unfortunately, Stonecliffe is closed for renovations this summer. The staff is amazing! We stay in the Summer House. The rooms are darling and spacious. The breakfasts are delicious and dinner at the Cudahay chophouse is a special experience. There is also an outdoor pool and the lawn looking out onto the bridge is spectacular!

We stayed in the Jardin room directly over the entrance to the lobby with the window open. How did I sleep? Was it annoying with the lobby noise? Not at all! Slept so well! I woke up to the clomping hooves of the taxi. Breakfast was simple and a sufficient start to a day filled with walking the island... We walked 12 miles Saturday! Over all it was a wonderful refreshing weekend. Absolutely loved staying away from the bustle of the town tucked away in the woods. Highly recommend it! Can't wait for my next trip!

We attended a wedding at the Stone Cliff and what a magical place to have a reception. The expansive grounds with the bridge view are spectacular. We stayed in the summer house and the room had a very large covered patio. An opportunity for improvement would be to replace the hard foam pillows with soft feather pillows and upgrade the mattresses on the beds. You should also be noted that the Inn is 1 3/4 miles from downtown with limited dining options in the immediate vicinity.

The place was gorgeous, rooms were nice and clean. However, we went with relatives and we requested that our rooms be next to each other, which we were assured would happen. Then once arriving we find out that they were no where near each other. Then on top of that, as we left the hotel the guy taking our luggage told us the wrong tag was on our bags and switch it. Well due to him switching the tags, we were on a wild goose hunt tracking down out bags one we got back to the docks. Overall, beautiful place, just doesn’t get 5 stars due to the lack of care but the staff.
