Such an amazing house! I got lucky and was the only person on the tour and it really did feel like a private tour. I believe my guide's name was Lizzie and she was super knowledgeable. The kitchen house is still intact and was included in the tour. Definitely a must-see!

It's a somewhat small house, but the information about the history is quite interesting. Worth a visit.

I have zero issue with Cannonball House itself. It is a lovely property, and the Museum is likewise wonderfully maintained and highly informative. My issue is with the docent who was giving us a tour this particular day. We have been on endless house tours the past two years as we have just built a antebellum Greek revival style home recently, and are slowly but surely filling with antique/historic furnishings from the appropriate time period... not replicas. Our 9 year old daughter has accompanied us to these house tours, however reluctantly, and actively lives in our home with our furnishings and her own bedroom is finished with antiques. All of this is to illustrate that she is aware of the expense, delicate nature, and proper handling of said items. Almost immediately upon starting the tour, the souvenirs began making remarks to my daughter about not touching, not approaching, not wandering, etc. None of which my daughter was doing. Instead of politely expressing our asking that she be cautious, or speaking to myself or my husband about her concerns, she instead became sharper and harsher with my daughter who came near tears. Ultimately I took my daughters hand and led her out and to the gift shop without a word so that my husband could finish the tour himself. Of the dozens upon dozens of home tours we have taken (GA, AL, MS, LA etc.) I have never had anyone treat my child in such a manner in front of me and without benefit of addressing myself or my husband as her parents... granted, she has never warranted being spoken to in such a way as her behavior has never justified it. Sorely disappointed, and hopefully addressed as so many of these homes rely on donations. Again, no issue with the house, just use discretion if you are traveling with your children.

The docent was very knowledgeable. The home has been well maintained and has a long history. Civil War buffs will enjoy museum. There is an actual Griswold revolver and facts about Samuel Griswold.

Absolute pleasure from start to finish. Both Brenda and husband Wayne delivered very informative and insightful details on the home and family. Wayne has a tremendous knowledge of the Civil War and it’s impact on Macon. Both were very receptive to answering questions in a very friendly manner. We wound up spending well over an hour with these delightful hosts and in the gift shop. For some reason we didn’t get to the kitchen ( which is ALWAYS of great interest to me ) or the Servants quarters. We’d definitely return for another tour tho. Fascinating- and odd that there are NO artists renderings or photos of Judge Holt.

Awesome. Immaculate. You can even see the mended area on the second from left pillar and the dent in the hall floor (by the grandfather clock) that was caused by the cannon ball. The furniture is all original and exquisite. Mr Wayne is great and very knowledgeable and informative. Love this place!

The archivist and his wife conducted the tour. So much historical information that we never heard of prior. The home is beautifully kept though also used for classes, everthing from cooking of period foods to music! The gift shop was a joy to browse with lots of great reading material; we left with a stack.

I cannot recommend this enough! Absolutely beautiful inside and our, cared for and loved by all the people involved. Interesting story as to why it's called the Cannonball house that I will let you go find the answer for. They have a great museum, furniture and original to Macon items including the cannon in the front yard! PLEASE visit and support this home!

This place was what we were looking for. Basicly a time capsule of the late 1800's. Thanks to the knowledgeable staff who had answers to all of our questions, we left with a better understanding of the time period.

Beautiful home that has been restored to its original luster. Very well-maintained and a great place to visit. Women dressed in period costume lead tours and share stories of the home and those who lived there and in the area. They read stories to the children and serve juice and cookies. The library is wonderful and it is a great place for those who live in town, ad well as out of town, to visit. This was for a school tour with a reservation.

The staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of the house, it's furnishings, it's inhabitants, the war, and Macon. They have an amazing collection of period photographs, paintings, furniture, clothing and uniforms, weapons, and other artifacts. There are two rooms that house collections from two of Wesleyan College's sororities. The house is set up to reflect life for the families who lived there during the war and includes a separate building that houses a brick kitchen and cook's quarters in the upstairs bedroom. I learned a great deal and enjoyed seeing everything in its historical context. Definitely a place to visit if you like history.
