It was a nice experience. Needs attention as the green carpet is worn out and dirty. Ceiling are worn out from moisture as it looks like there is a leak on the structure and now the floor/Ceiling is damaged and at some areas it peals off. Would have loved to take a picture laying on it but couldn't as it also looks unclean with dust. Kitchen still looks great but it's restricted. House needs ventilation or air-conditioning as it gets hot inside as my visit was in the afternoon. Lovely place to be at. It's a nice place to come and chill. There is ample space and more than enough places to sit and chill. I loved it.

The experience was great and they have lots of space for kids to play. Suggestion: It would be great to have more activities around the place. To the public: please visit the place with care and make sure you do not destroy the house. It was so saddening to see the behaviour of alot of people hanging to things. Please let's be responsible visitors to the place. Overall loved every experience of it and the management is so so great and friendly. Keep up the great service.

I needed a shot left to grab lunch and also see other places in the area and going to this house was well worth it. If it’s a weekend, expect it to be busy but I’m sure it’s less busy during weekdays. There’s sitting areas with shades where you sit and grab something to cool you down or eat. They also allow picnics at an additional fee. It’s R100 for general access and R60 for kids between 3 - 7 years.

You wait in line for about fifteen minutes, and then another line to get into the house for about twenty minutes. I have pictures of the lines to get in to see the house. All you have is the house and a few jumping castles. They do have umbrellas and benches and some places to braai. It would be nice if there was a swimming pool and some other entertainment. I most definitely won't go back. It's just good for a once-off visit. R100 for adults and kids from 3 to 12 years R60.

Overly priced for literally 5min to view the house however the house is very creative though. You can have a picnic once you enter and there’s rides for the little kids. There are sandwiches that can be bought.

Not sure if I picked a bad day or the heat just got to me... The waiting line to enter the premises was long, besides that, the staff are absolutely friendly, it's beautiful and safe to bring the kids along. Absolutely would return with my family on my next trip. The house itself has been slightly neglected, losing its beauty. Couldn't take proper pics as it was full inside and not monitored to control traffic

Really this place has no value for the money you pay to enter! Food is very poor quality & limited options & the house is rather small, taking you about 5 minutes to see it all. Very little invested for the patrons. I suppose that's why they have a No Refund policy! The shop as you leave had so small variety of items to buy - shocking!!! Not recommend!!!

What a fun experience 😁 I had so much fun seeing such a fun house. A bit run down as it a very touristy spot, but great nonetheless. As it is a touristy spot, if you've seen it once you've seen it all. But please do make your way to the upside down house to experience the most bizarre home🏠

Did a quick stop at the upside down house on our way back from Sun City . It’s basically one of those a been there , done that ,kind of places . Some of the rooms you can’t enter or touch the things and some you can get some epic pictures . However it is a bit difficult when there is more than one group in house as you don’t want to keep people waiting nor do you want to wait till the person gets their perfect shot . The rooms itself are basic , nothing to extravagant . Maximum time needed would be less than an hour . Also not wheelchair friendly but that’s understandable.

The facilities are quite nice, with braai areas and a food truck with snacks. It's worth it if you're going to spend the day there with family or friends, perhaps bring games to play in the open field. The house itself is pretty cool, but when it's busy, you don't really get the chance to snap a lot of good photos (the house is very small.) The upside down house itself can be done in 10 minutes. So if you really want to get good value, make a day out of it and stay a while.

Beautiful, breath-taking concept if being unique and diverse. I am inlove with wild yet fascinating idea of an upside down house . I definitely enjoyed it and I would definitely go again. We need more places like these across our country.

I really enjoyed my time here. It was a fun experience, the kids definitely enjoyed it. There isn't much to do, but it is a definite must-see. You may experience some dizziness when inside the house, it will pass once you exit. Great for pictures. The food and drinks aren't expensive. The 2 or 3 rides they have are affordable and the kids liked them.

A bit boring and small. The kids enjoyed it. Fun facts would add a touch. Something about illusions. We only discovered picnic spots when we arrived, so could have planned accordingly. If coming from out of town, add to an itinerary and not make it the single objective for the day

Upside down house "walkthrough" is quite short for R100 entry, coupled with many people in the confined space (we were at least 10 people in a +/- 15 sqm space) makes it uncomfortable and inhibits ability to take photos in the house. I strongly suggest someone at the start of the house, controlling the flow of people to ensure each group gets enough time without crowding, as well as adding a bit more furniture

A very beautiful place to visit, few minutes drive from Pretoria. i must say the idea is crazy yet thrilling and exciting. The place is amazing; I enjoyed the setup outdoors. All the tables are on the outside area with umbrellas. You take a tour on the wonderful amazing house when you are done you do not have to rush to the car or home. They have a sitting area and a shop where you can but snacks and cool drinks. More than allowed to bring picnic basket / cooler box. The place is big and has a very nice fence, it is much secured. You cannot see the amazing house from outside. They have very welcoming staff members; the system of getting your ticket is smooth. You just have to stand on the queue for few minutes. On sunny days, be sure to bring a hat or umbrella and your sunglasses whilst waiting to explore the house. There is a kiddie’s play area with jumping castles as well. Be sure to make is a romantic date, birthday celebration, kiddies fun day, touring hartees or family outing. They have clean toilets, water taps. Their lawn is well maintained and clean. Be sure not to litter as they have dustbins all over the yard. Lastly, they have a shop that sell their merchandise. Thank you 

Wasn’t overly impressed. Interesting outing but found it a tad expensive. Once you’ve walked about, not much else to see. It’s a unique outing, but not one to repeat often unless you hosting guests from out of town.

The upside-down house in Hartbeespoort is a truly unique and fascinating attraction! It's an amazing place where you can experience the world from a completely different perspective. As the name suggests, everything inside the house is upside down, from the furniture and decor to the fixtures on the walls and ceilings. Visiting the upside-down house is like stepping into a magical world where gravity seems to play tricks on you. It's a delight for both children and adults, as you can have lots of fun exploring the various rooms and trying to adjust to the topsy-turvy environment. Overall, visiting the upside-down house in Hartbeespoort is a must for anyone looking for a fun and unique experience. It's perfect for families, friends, or anyone who appreciates the unexpected.

It is a nice place for bring and braai, the house is a great concept if executed well. However, it was confusing as the furniture was pasted on what seems like a ceiling and hard grass carpet on stairs. I didn't get it all but it is worth seeing as a tourist attraction. Entrance is R120.00 per person

Fun and cute stop if you are already in the area. I do not recommend going all the way to Harties to see this place. Kills about an hour of your time. Interesting idea to attract tourists. I think it would do better with more activity type locations neighbouring it. A cafe/bakery, adventure golf… maybe even a fun photo booth.

  • 3/5 Grace N. 2 years ago on Google
Its an interesting experience, but i think abit overpriced as it'll only take you 15min to tour the entire house. It is packed on a weekend - they don't limit the number of people that enter at a time and they don't ensure that everyone keeps their mask on.

Overpriced and over rated.. R100 for a 5min walk through the house. You might feel a bit dis-orientated. R50 would be a more reasonable entrance fee.

This is definitely an experience worth having. It’s something different from other attractions in Hartbeerspoort. Once you get inside the house you start to appreciate all the efforts made. It can leave you a bit dizzy since the orientation is not what you’re used to. Adjusting doesn’t take long. There is a bar/restaurant here. So you can sit and have a decent meal once done with the viewing. They do sell alcohol. You can also come and do braais there. It’s a family friendly place as there are jumping castles for children. When we went there it was R100 to enter.

Stunning place, it has a bar, and party functions area, etc. but worst service. Yes we arrived just before closing time, but we could've at least been informed that we cannot buy alcohol / sweets after 5:45, because "everybody needs to be out by 6pm". Receptionist, claims he does not work with the bar or tuck shop, but he throws his weight around as if he does. Won't be going back for such bad service again.

It was great, perfect to experiment with photoshoots and create awesome upside down photos with friends or family, also nice if you want some quality time with your partner as the place is spacious, there was no running into other people. The facility allows for use of everything in the facility and the only thing there for adults is the Upside down house. If you are planning on making the trip an all day event, I suggest you bring your picnic material and have a braai, the place is soacious enough for picnics. Otherwise, you will be bored after touring the house which will take less than 20min.

Hype place for kids coz they find it fascinating but I've heard adults complain about the entrance fee. 3rd time here (different crew ofcos) and from this visit what I can say is that one needs to be responsible enough to sanitize and keep the mask on as there is no one controlling the crowds going into the house.

Sufficient parking. Didn't know that you could picnic there. Just went for a short visit. Kids enjoyed it. Worth a visit but will not rush back. Good for pictures and laughs.

It was so hot there..if only the house can have Aircon. There were jumping castles for the kids, plastic scooters and other toys to play with. Two places to buy drinks. There's a limited menu. Also, be prepared to pay like double for what you can pay elsewhere. 0 - 3 years don't pay 4 - 7 years and pensioners pay R70 Older is for R120 per person

Really cool experience, it's fascinating how much thought has went into the idea. Should visit there once atleast if you haven't. Some people didn't follow the COVID regulations though, kept taking off their masks and standing on top of you.

Such a unique concert, everything is upside down. Good for those that like pictures. The fee is reasonable however I would suggest that you take the panic package so that you can chill with your loved ones after your tour in the upside down house. Drinks and snacks are also sold inside the premises.

What an amazing experience, nothing we have ever seen or imagined. Because it’s the holidays the house was cramped and maybe they should limit the number of people going in at a time. We were all dizzy from being inside the house but totally enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to anyone.

  • 4/5 Ntsikelelo N. 4 months ago on Google
My kids were excited 😊 to see the upside-down house. I do think they should put rules when entering the house. Or a Supervisor. As some people would leave beer cans and the like on the floor.

  • 4/5 Peter M. 4 months ago on Google
Fun place to visit, cleverly put together, plays with your mind. It can be a bit disorientating when you go through the inside. Half an hour should do it but if you want to picnic, lots of sites.

  • 3/5 Cassidy L. 4 months ago on Google
Nothing wow about the place. The pictures says everything. The roof was leaking and the jumping castles were very dirty. The seating area is nice. This will be an excellent spot if they can add a swimming pool.

  • 3/5 Nonhlanhla R. 1 year ago on Google
Spent about 40min on a Thursday morning before a long weekend. The place was quiet, jumping castles were not yet up. There were few visitors around. The attraction works for anyone looking for a place to have a casual lunch and keep the kids probably under 10, busy for a few hours. The house itself is an interesting walk through but could do with some maintenance.

  • 3/5 Maryke Jansen van V. 1 year ago on Google
Great big grounds for kids to run around and play. They had jumping castles up and there is a restaurant. We paid R50 to use their picnic/braai areas. Lovely benches and tables under mini lapas. The upside down house is strange, and pretty much traumatized my small children, not because of the house itself, but rather the upside down skeleton with bulging eyeballs staring into the one upstairs room! Not appropriate! The house itself made me feel nauseated, but I guess that is to be expected.

  • 2/5 Avesh S. 1 year ago on Google
It is a novelty tourist trap. R100 per person entrance fee. You can probably go thorough the house in 20 minutes. There were a few jumping castles alongside the tables and chairs. There is nothing more for the kids. The small takeaways in the site we overpriced in my opinion. There are braai facilities there. Unfortunately more hype than substance.

  • 3/5 Asaad F. 2 months ago on Google • 8 reviews New
Nice place to have a decent picnic with family. Well maintained, however, that jumping castle for children should be replaced. It's absolutely filthy and seems as if it has not been washed for years. Otherwise it's a nice place to spend a few hours and have a braai. Upside down house is a nice experience but last not more than 5 mins. Overall, the view and feeling is nice and refreshing.

  • 2/5 Namhla M. 10 months ago on Google
Generally okay. The house itself had a damp smell and just requires some maintenance as some areas are peeling off and look a bit out of place. The place is suitable for the whole family

  • 5/5 Kim Van Der M. 11 months ago on Google
Absolutely loved it! BUT. You have to make an experience of it. We paid R100 entrance fee, which is a lot if you don't make it an experience, but a steal if you do! The house is quite small, so you move through it rather quickly, but you're allowed to go in as many times as you'd like! My friend and I spent a whole 90 mins in & around the house taking over 300 pictures. We had so much fun & laughed until we cried. At one point it did become a bit crowded (we were there at around 7h50 and people starting pouring in around 9h00) but then we simply showed them poses and things they could do to take cool photos too! Around your second trip through the house is when the creative ideas come to you. Like I said, you have to MAKE it an experience otherwise you'll be disappointed.

  • 1/5 Justin D. 1 year ago on Google
Very underwhelming experience. The upside down house smells musky and dusty. The food stall staff were not helpful in directing us to another bin when the one inside was full. It was a rainy weekend which is why the jumping castle for kids was not operating. The land it big enough for management to really consider other offerings to make the trip to the upside down house worthwhile and more entertaining. For R100 to go in and simply experience it which takes 10mins is seriously below is expectations.

  • 4/5 Khesa M. 1 year ago on Google
It was a freezing weekend and the area was cold (winter) but the experience was good with a mini shop to get some coffee and very limited sandwich menu with less than 10 options (that includes burgers). The service was a bit slow,it took more than 25 minutes for a toasted chicken mayo with no chips. Yes the furniture and everything is upside down inside the upside down house and the level of creativity is out of this world.

Interesting place to visit if you are looking for a fun activity. Took us 15min to see all there is in the house. There is plenty of space for a lunch and pick nick. There is a café selling food and drinks, souvenir shop and plenty of Covid safety precautions at the entrance.

Something different and does not cost to much. Good to spend some time with family there

  • 5/5 Winnie D. 2 years ago on Google
It was great. Line was long, but expected because it was a long weekend. People are friendly so you do get to take your own individual photo despite the crowd. The only downfall is that they only have 1 toilet per gender. And on packed days there's a long queue to access it.

  • 3/5 mosa k. 2 years ago on Google
Very beautiful sight seeing. But they could do better with controlling the queues. More shading for people, the sun is hot. Also controlling the number of people in the house. It was a very uncomfortable experience because it was overcrowded.

When last did you take a drive to Hartebeespoort Dam and surroundings. We recently did some exploring and finally made our way to the Upside Down House Broederstroom It definitely makes you feel slightly drunk. I was more worried that it feels like it needs some TLC and that my butt was going to fall through the wood 🤣 Definitely a new experience. My advice go extra early before the crowds get there as they have a huge area for people to chill and have functions etc. Some people can be selfish and won't move out the way once taken pics to let others take pics, thats the only downside. There should be some sort of control so that everyone gets a chance without people getting upset when you ask them to move out the way when just standing there. I can only imagine the chaos the day before as that parking lot was overflowing with people as it was late in the day and a long weekend. They do open from 7am or 7:30am so you can take decent pics without tons of people in it. Get in, take pics, get out. #TheFoodMusketeer #TheFoodMusketeerTravels #TFMRoadTrip #TFMHarties

The place looks more wow in the pics than in actual. Fee is pricey, its a small house and you are literally done in 5 min. Not worth a special drive there. Only visit if you feel the need to see fir yourself and the curiosity gets the better of you.

If it is worth to pay R100 to spend 5-10min inside the house, then this is great for you. Went during the week and it was extremely quiet. With all the guide lines and big property; I bet this place gets really busy with festivals. Take your time, create interesting photos, to get true value.

  • 5/5 Kim B. 1 year ago on Google
A very unique experience! We loved taking out time walking through the house, taking quirky photos and just being silly. Warning: mind your step in there and don't worry about the dizziness! Something out of the ordinary to try when in Harties. Also has an on-site restaurant, kids play area and plenty of outdoor seating.
