April
2021
My
first
visit
to
Leopard
Lodge
was
in
2002
with
a
company,
TDE.
Since
then,
Hein
Pretorius
and
I
visited
the
lodge
a
few
times
with
family
and
friends
for
Xmas
lunches.
Never
for
breakfast
though.
Saturday,
24
April
–
sipped
coffee
in
bed
and
watched
the
small
brown
canaries
in
our
garden
–
‘shall
we
go
somewhere
for
breakfast..’
Hein
searched
for
bush
breakfasts
and
Leopard
Lodge
popped
up.
Haven’t
been
there
for
at
least
4
years.
Yes,
they
do
a
la
carte
breakfast
between
8
and
10.
I
dressed
warmly
in
a
thick
red
jacket
–
it
was
13
oC
outside.
Small
clouds
were
all
over
the
sky
–
the
Hartbeespoort
dam
is
cleared
of
Hyacinths
…
good
job!
Drove
up
towards
the
lodge
and
hordes
of
vultures
were
seen
circling
over
the
mountain.
The
lodge
has
accommodation
for
32
people
–
some
rooms
for
couples,
other
self-catering
houses
for
a
group
–
all
separate
from
the
main
lodge.
There’s
a
chapel
for
weddings
and
walking
trails.
Next
to
the
lodge
is
a
boma
area,
set
out
with
small
tables
and
chairs
for
breakfast.
What
an
interesting
menu!
My
eyes
immediately
locked
onto
the
Banters
Breakfast
…
and
it
didn’t
disappoint
(although
I
couldn’t
taste
the
basil
pesto).
I
loved
the
zucchini
noodles
and
the
Halloumi!!!
Hein
chose
the
Leopard
Sunrise
and
enjoyed
every
bite.
After
breakfast
we
enjoyed
our
coffee
on
comfy
chairs
that
overlook
the
valley
and
Hartbeespoort
dam.
Worth
a
visit!!!!
