ignore all pictures & reviews, 1/3rd size. it used to be an amazing books store with a cafe a cute gift shop - one of my favorite spots in the city where I kept coming back. It's a real shame they couldn't keep this wonderful building and have to rent a much-much smaller spot now

Gorgeous bookshop with a pretty little cafe (which unfortunately doesn't have WiFi, otherwise I would have stayed). Good staff picks of Spanish and LatAm fiction titles. Tempting. Managed to walk away with just two books which is good for a compulsive book buyer like me.

Very nice book store in the middle of the center. There are three floors in a different types of the book. Also the small cafe on the first floor that you can sit, enjoy the vibe and chill. Very pretty location but the coffee and pastry tastes are normal...

First time to go here try for good coffee... Codos to the staff... Specially the girl whose in barra/inside its obvious i dont have small amount only 50€ she told me to go to the cashier to change then go back to pay them... I was in shock because seriously she/staff would be the one who need to go out to change it...luckily my sister can pay card... I dont want to make drama just to remind you guys just in case bring small cash so that the bar girl didnt tell you what she told me...

Great place! Highly recommendable if you like, books, architecture, quiet place, interior design and food and wine. It's a combination of bookstore, several stories high, and bar and restaurant. Service is very good and friendly. They got a lunch menu which is price worthy. If you have been walking around the historic centre of Madrid for a couple of hours and just wants to sit down, journal, up load your photos on Instagram and maybe have a beer, coffee or glas of wine, well, this is the place you have been looking for. All kinds of books and also stationary, if you run out of ink and paper. Enjoy!

Excellent bookstore. Very good and large selection of books. The children section is fantastic. They also have a section of books in "original version" in French and in English. The coffee shop is very good. It is worth exploring the different floors for the sake of the beauty of the building.

Best place to find all sorts of books. I got lost for hours in their different rooms and multiple floors. I probably spent most of my spending budget in this place during my vacation time in Madrid. No regrets thought!

Nice place to get your favourite readings. They have a good variety of Spanish and foreign languages essays and fiction. The bar in the ground floor is normally so packed that you won't be able to get a table.

So nice book shop with great environment. I recommend it for having a coffee while reading a book or paying a visit at least.

The large bookstore with the cafe has closed and La Central has moved to another, much smaller location around the corner from the old store. They don't seem to have any English fiction or the art + design sections anymore
