We had originally planned a trip in Utah, but the airlines canceled our flight as soon as we got to the airport. So we scrambled to find a place that had snow (we are Floridians and wanted to take the kids skiing) last minute, and we found this hidden gem! This place is right on a river, and has an excellent restaurant for dinner! The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The rooms were spacious and kept us warm. So glad to have found this place. I would definitely stay here again if we come back to Maggie Valley!

The manager and entire staff go out of their way to offer amazing hospitality. The rooms were clean and had all the amenities you would expect. They have a BBQ dinner on Saturday night, with live music included with your stay. Boyd, the manager, and his staff really know how to make you feel welcome. This is way more then a one star hotel. Also, the cabins they offer are right by the creek and are very cool.

This is a great little place. The rooms are dated, but it's a motel, not a resort. The place a certain charm to it. It's clean. Great location. I expect most people will book it again after they stay here. Restaurant on site, open till 11pm. A little difficult to find out where to check in. Look for the "open" sign. The rm fridge and microwave have a Margaritaville vibe. My rm heater makes a lot of noise as it starts up. I suspect I will be woken up every 20 minutes tonight! Still...there's something about this place... I'll try and get some pics.

Nice place. Has a small outdoor pool. Restaurant. Nice picnic area in back by the creek. We didn't try the restaurant because my better half don't do elk and such😬. I would love to try it. The rooms were very clean. Bad part was the bed would screech loudly every time you moved. The toilet would flush, but very slowly. Had to keep the handle down until it cycled. Small TV. Also a cute little fridge and freezer. Served Continental breakfast till 11am. Fair price for the type of motel. Nice rocking chairs in front. Other restaurants in walking distance. Beautiful view of the mountains at your front door. Even had extra blankets on the shelf so we could wrap up and set outside while it rained.

Great place! Large beautiful area behind the motel with a beautiful river streaming down. Fire pits to sit around and drink your favorite beverage while listening to music on Friday and Saturday nights. End the night in their quaint speakeasy with music and a beer or nice glass of wine. Have a coffee and continental breakfast before heading out for the day. Looking to relax this is the place! Staff is amazing 😍

Not sure how it gets 4.3 stars but the facility is aged, and in desperate need of modern touches. My half of the bed was on a collapsed box spring and I think it might be a spring type mattress that has been collapsed over the many, many years of repeated use. The decor was aged 1950'ish, literally. That being said, it was clean and spacious and the guy running it was very nice. Breakfast was a freezer full of frozen breakfast stuff to microwave opposite a full service kitchen with a grill that wasn't open. That was pretty much it. Whoever thought that arrangement up was tired of it all, a long time ago. I wouldn't bother eating breakfast at the breakfast joint next door. Coffee and service were good. Forget ordering anything gravy off the menu.

I enjoyed the speak easy way in the back. Go all the way around to the back and keep taking left turns until you see the colorful lights. You'll find an avant gard interior with a NY flair. Quite a pleasant surprise in Maggie Valley. Great live music, open mic and DJ nights. Terrific craft cocktails and service. A nice change of pace from the traditional pubs and bars in town.

Staying here the evening of writing this post. Leaving in the morning a day early, because this place is a sharthole. Room is dingey and musty smelling. This isn't "retro", this is reminiscent of staying at your grannies in the sixties, and not in a good way. My grannie was cheap and had tacky furniture. That is what this room reminds me of. The bed is creaky, mattress springs are digging in my back as I write. Thin blanket, flat pillows. Bathroom sink area has faded, cracked caulking and nasty faucet handles missing the caps that cover the rusty screws. Just like grandmas sink. Bathroom woodwork trim dirty and needs painted. "Retro" bathroom floor tile is permanently dirty. It's noisy here. The air blowing out of the noisy air conditioner stinks. And the cheap, yellowing light bulbs emit depressing light from the cheap, old, faded and yellowed lamp shades. The ambience here is, again, just like your grannies. Except she wouldn't put up with the nonsense noise here, she would be outside with her broom yelling for everyone to keep it down. The people in the lobby apparently don't care a handful of guests are rude enough to keep other guests disturbed. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. I can't wait to be back in my own bed tomorrow, even though we will take a hit by having to pay for this smelly nightmare one more night anyways because hotel the policy doesn't take unhappy guests into consideration. No refund permitted. We asked to check out early because of the smelly, uncomfortable and frankly, ugly room, as well as the noise, so this is not a "retribution review". I could have mentioned plenty of other issues but did not, such as the cheap furniture with the blistered tops, or the hair and dust covered bedbase cover, which we saw after pulling the bed back to plug in an electronic device (one outlet on one wall with the power strip blocked by the bed). The noise wasn't due to the road. It was noisy guests, thin floors making the foot noise of guests above evident, and cars/motorcycles pulling in and out until late at night. This is a smelly, ugly and noisy hotel, and we were not comfortable and couldn't sleep . Period. TOO MANY OTHER OPTIONS AND BEAUTIFUL VRBOs IN THE AREA TO BOOK THIS JOINT. We won't be making this mistake again.

Nice location, good amount of room property wise. Room was OK, furniture was a little rough with tears and stains. Jacuzzi tub was inop with a note taped to wall. Wasn't mentioned online or when we checked in (was main reason we got that room) pool was also closed, no reason given. We came with huge group (all rooms booked) and for some reason the pavilion was booked on a Friday night with something called Woke Fest, added many people and parking was terrible.

From the moment we checked in until the time we left this place was magical! They have a cool little speak easy bar in the basement that takes you back in time. Front desk lady Kate was wonderful and very helpful!!

Rooms definitely need to be updated, my husband got an electrical shock from switch plate in the bathroom but overall it was a good stay. Owners were so friendly and helpful and breakfast was really nice. Would stay again.

Rooms and grounds are immaculate and all of the employees are so incredibly kind, but it goes beyond that. They’ve gone to great lengths to ensure every guest enjoys their stay, with various forms of entertainment from live music to hula hoops to everything about the speakeasy out back. They take great care with the little details that most wouldn’t even notice unless they were really looking. Not only will we be back at the Meadowlark next year, but we’re bringing all of our friends (after we’ve secured our reservation first, of course lol). I’ve never enjoyed a stay at a hotel/motel as much as I have our stay at the Meadowlark!

If I could give more stars I would. Free live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Saturday morning breakfast is provided and Saturday night dinner is provided. Food is phenomenal. Family run and they work really hard to ensure their guests are comfortable and happy. ❤️ LOVED our stay.

This was a wonderful place to stay for our motorcycle trip through the Smoky Mountains. The location is perfect, right in the best part of Maggie Valley. The room was big, bed comfortable, friendly staff and the air conditioner was even quiet! But the best part of staying here is the grounds. Right behind the rooms is a beautiful open area that has 3 fire pits and a stream that runs through the property.

My husband and I recently spent the weekend at Meadowlark motel and we will definitely be back. They are in a great location to walk or ride to places to eat or get items you may need while staying there. We felt like they went above and beyond to make everyone have an enjoyable stay there by providing food, entertainment, clean lodging, and most importantly making us and our fur baby Sophia feel very welcomed. If you want a clean, and enjoyable vacation that allows you to bring your fur baby which is part of your family, then this is definitely the place to stay. Great job to all that work there and made our visit so enjoyable. Scottie & Amy Deese

Stayed in Room 116 King size bed for 3 nights during Plottfest. Easily accessible with no steps from car to room. Two comfortable rocking chairs with table outside door. Located on a beautiful scenic waterway with plenty of shaded seating in a park like setting. All new helpful and polite staff- no problems at front desk or bar and room was immaculate. Cute retro microwave and fridge in room. Bar and entertainment on site. Continental breakfast each morning and fantastic BBQ dinner Saturday night in pavilion. Very pleased.

We were there for the Thunder in the Valley rally! We have stayed at Meadowlark quite a few times and this is the first time for this room. Oh it's a cottage. Off by itself. Perfect for couples or a group of friends. Full kitchen. Awesome king size sleigh bed. You really can't even hear the pavilion patrons and live music inside the house. I loved the patio and the view from the kitchen is great! Pet friendly for sure and since I always worry about my pets bothering someone, having the house to yourself is worry free. I love love this place. If you get a chance to stay here, check out the creek behind it!

Beautiful place right on Jonathan's Creek. Room was very comfortable but could use a little bit of updating. Very peaceful with wonderful mountain views. And pet friendly too with low pet fee. Staff was very helpful and nice. Room where continental breakfast was served was really nice to sit in.

This was our first time here. We have 2 small dogs, the rooms are much larger than most motels/hotels, having plenty of room for small dog crate and their other necessities. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night. It is in the heart of Maggie Valley with restaurants and shopping all around close. We are already planning to go back! J. Arthur's Restaurant is directly across the street. Loved the retro microwave and refrigerator!

Went to the Speakeasy for a few drinks. The band was good. The bar is in a very small contained, but quaint basement area. I felt very claustrophobic. It reminded me of a 1970 "Hookua" lounge minus the smoke. Good luck 🤞

The room I had was clean. Laminate floors. Poor lighting. No clock. Very small lavatory not much room for essentials. Pet friendly. Lots of green space on the property. Decent continental breakfast. Good ice machine on site. Very nice outdoor activities area for a fire. Wood provided. Price is affordable even with a pet. Parking and accessibility is good. I do recommend the Italian restaurant across the street, Snappys. Fabulous pizza .

It is an older facility so as you may expect the bathrooms haven't been remodeled but it was clean. It looks like they recently added a new refrigerator and microwave and the cable was good but I had to go to the office to get batteries for the remote. As someone else mentioned the mattress was hard as a rock. Very little sleep on this trip. There was a small table with two straight back chairs but no other place to sit other than the bed. After the sun went down you could sit in the chairs outside in front of the room. They only offered room cleaning on the 7th day so you needed to place your towels outside to have them cleaned and replaced. We had to ask for towels each day as none were returned to our room. The first night we were given towels that looked like rags with stains and one had a huge hole in it. The second night we were given pool towels as we were told they ran out of bath towels and hand towels. We only stayed 3 nights even though we paid for 4. Just couldn't go another night without sleep. I probably wouldn't go back.

Don’t sleep (no pun intended) on this small older motel in the heart if Maggie Valley NC. Clean accommodations right by a creek to explore. The speakeasy with entertainment was great and the eclectic decor interesting. Some great cocktails and wines there made for a relaxing evening. Refrigerator and microwave in the room was nice for bringing snacks and heating leftovers. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to every thing we needed. Our sweet little pup was welcomed as well. The owner Joseph was super nice and even helped us to get an item we mistakenly left behind. For our visit to this charming mountain town the Meadowlark Motel was just what we needed for a weekend getaway.

Great people, kind and helpful. Very clean rooms. The room could use a new mattress. (It was horrible) but had a great time.

Service was great. Location was fantastic. Rooms need work. The flooring was not fastened to the floor. Bugs were smashed on the wall. There was a funky smell in the room as if something was trying to be hid. Pool wasn't in service, restaurant wasn't in service. Priced way to high. The lady that checked us in seemed to be on drugs. (NOTE: The lady that checked us in was fired for stealing and doing drugs onsite day 2 of our stay.) Wasn't happy with the overall feel of the place left a day sooner than we were supposed to.

Left only 4 stars because I felt it was a little pricey, but then again it’s a tourist area. Room were clean, had a refrigerator and microwave. Tv is a little on the small side but very comfortable room. I was in room 130 and I had a creek right outside my window. They have a bar room downstairs and had live music the first day I was there, nice comfortable atmosphere with the lighting and some actual sofas in the corner. It’s a small room and fills up fast.

I loved my stay there. Was a little disappointed the pool wasn't open but all was well as it was raining and cool the afternoon I had available, so no big deal. My room was wonderful, very clean, nice cool AC. Loved my spa tub. Will definitely book in the future!

First off, the location of this Motel is FANTASTIC! We walked pretty much the whole time. Did not get to eat in the restaurant but did enjoy some live music they had on Friday night in the speakeasy, it was a whole vibe! There is a little creek flowing behind the motel that we went and played in with our dog, she had a blast. Oh and it's dog friendly so that was a huge plus! The rooms were clean and the folks at the front desk were super sweet and inviting! One and only compliant... the bed! It was hard as a rock. Our backs hurt by the end of our trip because of how uncomfortable it was. Other than that, our stay was fantastic!

Conveniently located near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Friendly staff and clean rooms. They have excellent live music with singer song writers on the weekends also.

We had a fantastic dinner. I chose the Shakshouka, which is a stewed tomato egg dish from North Africa. My folks selected some more traditional chicken dishes, and it was clear plates all around! The highlight of the visit was the underground speakeasy and the cocktails. The bartender was excellent- creating elegant handcrafted cocktails to order. This is a gem for the valley. The vibes of the speakeasy are very casual, but don't let that fool you. The drink menu is upscale and quality. Definitely worth a visit!
