This is a great pub to visit, we've eaten here so many times. It's totally dog friendly inside and outside. The menus have a good selection on them and there is a good choice of drinks. Lots of places to sit; indoors, under the veranda outside or in the gardens. Why we love this pub is because it's right next to some excellent dog walking routes on the Hucking Estate. After a good walk you can sit and relax with a meal and watch people turn up with their dogs, horses, motorbikes, and even campervans. The staff have always been friendly and helpful, even when they are super busy. We'll be going back again soon.

Lovely pub very! Very helpful bar staff. Would of been five stars had the WiFi been working as it was cash only. We will definitely be back

Really nice country pub. Good for dog owners, walkers, and arriving on horseback. Large parking area backing onto campsite Freshly cooked traditional food is served to a high standard. Reasonable beer and wine selection. Service was quick from an attentive team. Very cozy pub interior which is well decorated.

Love it. Super dog friendly, lovely atmosphere, and in the middle of beautiful countryside. Its the first time I've seen genuine horse "parking" places, with hay for them to eat as well. Food was delicious and staff were smiling and friendly.

Great public house with restaurant, indoor and outdoor seating, camping field next door to pub garden. Bench style seating to one side with a covered seating area for more formal meals, plenty of tables inside too. Very friendly staff with a great location, small carpark with free parking. Single lane roads leading to the location next to walking trails, can be busy in summer, disabled and dog friendly, well worth a visit

Cracking pub in a lovely secluded location, we stayed camping in their field. We have a large tent but managed to get it onto one of their pitches with electricity... the site is a little uneven, but manageable! The showers and toilets were good, kept nice and clean but owing to large numbers of teenage guests they did get a slight mucky overnight... nothing too horrific by any means and like I said, once cleaned the following day they were really neat and tidy! Onto the pub, well it was lovely, really nice outside seating areas and a couple of good seating areas inside, enjoyed all of the food, which was well cooked, only gripe would be a slightly overdone steak but still tasted nice!

1st time I've visited this pub and it was lovely. Its a bit of the beaten track, especially in the pitch black but we found it eventually. Lovely big carpark, huge garden and even somewhere to leave your horse. The staff are friendly and polite. Very nice atmosphere and we will be going again.

Beautiful pub close to a fantastic nature walk. Very dog friendly. Lush selection of drinks and food. Also love the dog Ice-cream touch for the dogs.

This is a Lovely pub nicely situated in the North Kent downs. I've been here a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed it. They have off road parking for all modes of transport including horses (honestly im not joking), The seating is plentiful, the staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious and well priced. There always seems to be something on, They have a bike night every Tuesday anybody is welcome but if you are on 2 wheels be it a pushbike or motorcycle you get a free curry, and tonight (friday) was music quiz night which was a good laugh, I definitely think iv found my new (not so) local. Plus they also offer camping overlooking the Kent downs its a must for the stargazers.

We had a brilliant experience here. We stayed on their camp site at the rear of the pub and enjoyed an amazing meal and the Friday night music quiz. The staff were amazing and the prices were very reasonable. We had a table booked for 7:30pm but due to traffic, we were late to arrive. We rang ahead and I think they kept the kitchen open for us. You don’t see customer service like this much. I think the head waitress was called Maddie? Amazing and bubbly person as well as all the staff. Thank you.

Very good. 2 course meal for 4, with modest drinks was £86. Quiet for lunch on a Thursday. Recommended signposted 1 mile circular walk from pub

I stayed here overnight and camped in the adjacent field, on a stopover whilst cycling the NDW. The homemade chicken and leak pie was delicious. The service excellent. My main criticism that the pub was pretty quiet compared to the number of tables, but the volume of the music outside was hideously loud. Especially as there were only a handful of tables outside being used. Furthermore, the front locals bar was also playing different music. This wasn’t one of their famed music nights. Just thought a little inconsiderate. Ps. The breakfast is awesome.

First time coming here and it was a random decision to try something new with a mate. I'm not sure what I was expecting but I've got to say it was brilliant. The pie of the day was incredible, Bailey's cheesecake was delicious and all reasonably priced. Looking at the agenda for the coming month looked like they had lots going on in the coming weeks as well. Combine this with the beautiful rural location, a country park next door for nice walks and the staff being incredibly helpful and cheerful. This truly is a hidden gem and I'll certainly be returning

I recently joined a friend here for lunch and enjoyed the true country atmosphere this delightful pub has to offer. The food was good, varied and reasonably priced. Large outdoor gardens with seating area and extremely dog friendly. Highly recommended.

Fantastic traditional pub with great food and good service. Really good value compared to london pubs, but even better is the location

Recently stopped at the pub on our bikes and had an amazing breakfast. We opted for the large full English with two thick slices of toast, all cooked to perfection, lovely coffee too, we were so full it was hard to get back on the bikes!

Went out for fireworks night with friends and family. Lovely big garden for the kids to run around in. Gave 5 stars for food even though we didn't have dinner, but the crisps were lovely. Staff all seemed happy and polite even with it being extremely busy.

Quite rural location, but plenty of parking. Dog friendly pub with good selection of weekday main courses & desserts. Good portion sizes & good service. Nice option of different gins for my g&t! My only quibble was pancakes with ice-cream would benefit from a fruity coulis &/or fruit. Would recommend.

Very impressed with the whole experience on our first visit. Great beer and food in a wonderful building. I would love to live close enough to make it my local. Anywhere that had dog biscuits on the bar for your furry friend has to be good before you even try the human refreshments.

Great place to stop off after a lovely long walk, food on offer from the Burger Shack and a bar outside too, toilets available to diner's, you can even camp here we noticed camper vans with hookup and tents too! Hidden out of the way in the Kent country side. Very friendly welcome, so pleased they survived the lockdown and we can still return with our Puggies

Fantastic atmosphere. Nice cosy pub, we found a lovely cosy corner near a warm radiator and in sight of a log burner. Went for a birthday meal with my partner, cannot fault the food. Which was both nicely cooked and well presented. Staff are incredibly polite and helpful, check you're ok without being pushy, annoying or invading. Will definitely go back.

Fabulous setting, wonderful decorations around the pub, really beautiful. Staff were kind and attentive and worked well in a busy setting. Chips were tasty. Food left a lot to be desired in general, especially the roast. Too many unseasoned and disappointingly cooked roast potatoes. Pie lacking a nice pastry top. Chicken breast was bland and seemed to be batch cooked from frozen. Whole roast was lathered in gravy and Yorkshire's were over done. Vegan sausages were covered in gravy, which wasn't mentioned on the menu or when we asked what the dish came with. I don't like to leave a bad review, and perhaps we happened to eat at a bad/busy moment.

Great pub. Lovely staff and excellent food. Dogs welcome and conveniently located next to a big open field with great walking routes. Every night there is something happening in the pub whether it be classic car enthusiasts or puppy social gatherings. There is something for everyone at the hook and hatchet.
