I don't like leaving bad reviews but on this occasion, I feel it's warranted. I went for a Sunday lunch with 6 other family members. The meat was overcooked, vegetables were very soft and the nut roast that one of us had tasted more like a fruit cake. The fish and chips was the only meal that was liked. For the money it was very dissapointing. Oh and charging Β£5 for a large Coke out of a tap is ridiculous

Excelent breakfast! I recommend steak with eggs for breakfast, even for me as Romanian it was a bit unusual πŸ‘. Also you must try the pancake too - they are delicious. And about the atmosphere, it's a truly old British, an old house, with huge fireplace. We really enjoyed.

Do they taste the food?! What a shame. Lovely night out because of the company. The serving staff were friendly and pretty attentive, but the food was not good. My friend and I ordered muscles as a main. The muscles themselves were cleaned and cooked well, and they were nice big muscles. But the whole dish completely lacked flavour. There was hardly any sauce, and what was there appeared to be simply made of unsalted butter and water with some boiled onions thrown in. It was very odd! The muscles were nearly Β£20 and it was an eye watering Β£5 for a side of chips. Because dinner was so disappointing (for most - one friend enjoyed a nice meal), we opted to finish the meal on high other dessert. I had gyspy tart. The tart itself was yummy, but again, the ice cream completely lacked flavour. It was like they hadn't tasted it. It was so strange. For a place with a typical price point of Β£30 for a maim course, I'd expect a lot better. I won't be returning. At a final bill of Β£60 per head (with alcohol), it was vastly overpriced and completely disappointing.

My husband and I came to The Windmill on Sunday, 12th November. I decided on a whim that I didn't want to cook dinner, and as we were already out, we decided to pull into the next village and check out the local pub. What a find!! The car park, to the rear, was almost full. Good sign of a mich loved establishment bit not good if you've not made a reservation. Still, we thought we would chance it and go and investigate. We would have an hours wait, but we thought it would be worth the wait and so we did. With a glass of wine and an Ale. Less than an hour we were take. To our table. We decided on small plates for starters, I had the baked camembert Nd he the scotch egg. Both were delicious. We both decided on the roast, mine was beef, his beef and lamb. The food was amazing and we were totally stuffed. Would we go back? Absolutely. 10/ 10

Came here as part of a group of eight. Had a very pleasant and relaxing lunch. This pub is a lot larger than it first appears with a great variety of seating areas both inside and outside. Food was tasty and very well presented although certain dishes could have been cooked a little better. "Jake's IPA" did not taste of the right beer style - maybe the beers had got muddled up. Great wine selection with the pub being part of Balfour Winery. Plenty of parking. Overall would thoroughly recommend.

Visited The Windmill whilst staying at a local hotel for an event. Had good reviews and the menu looked good. This is a MUST VISIT place, food was excellent, all staff were engaging, accommodating and genuinely friendly. We had a mixture of meat eaters and vegans and everyone was happy with the choices and dishes served. The cocktails were on point and service was surprisingly quick. Would highly recommend. What a gem!

Had Christmas lunch with the family and it was a wonderful experience. Warm and relaxed atmosphere. Attentive staff, hot plates and food, which was delicious. Will definitely be booking for 2024.

Had a really good Sunday lunch here. Our granddaughters enjoyed the children's menu and play area. Pleasant and friendly staff. I wish we were staying here, prices are currently much cheaper than the chain pub we had booked in.

My family and I came to the Windmill Pub for Christmas lunch (2023). Things which make it worth a five star review are: - ample parking - warm and friendly welcome - beautifully cooked and presented food - family friendly - excellent service - warm and welcoming atmosphere. I would definitely recommend eating out here.

Thermidor Thursday was fantastic. Nicely cooked lobster and some great fresh oysters. The sparkling wine was also brilliant. Lovely open fire and fantastic service.

My family and I went here for Christmas Dinner. The service was excellent, the restaurant was warm enough, plates hot and food was excellent. Attention to detail like hot plates, ensuring everyone has enough drinks all matter, and the windmill made this happen. Thank you everyone who worked hard to give us a lovely start to our Christmas. Very good

Lovely food. Various menus through the week. If you like like cider try Jakes, likewise the lager. Hosts very friendly. Would suggest you book a table.

The room was comfortable. However, I found it noisy from the courtyard until late. The toilet was a saniflo and, as such, made a lot of noise, as did one of the adjoining room when they were running any water, which could be heard through the walls. I didn't get to try the included breakfast as it didn't start until 8AM, but I left for work before 7AM.

Not been here for years and found it via the association with Balfour Wines, of which was sampled (lovely). Sunday lunch. The good lady and I had some small plates to start, Chorizo and calamari, both very tasty. Then onto the main event, roast beer x2. Gorgeous plate of food. Then a cheeky dessert or two. Food is to a high quality. Service a little bit slow due to being busy (always a good sign) however we like as gives us time to enjoy and to rest between courses. Good atmosphere and staff are personable. We'll go back for sure!

The place is cosy with good vibes. The staff is really kind. Good location if you visit the Leeds castle to get a drink and dinner, but there is only limited time for a food service, I can recommend checking the website and booking a table before visiting.

We didn’t have any food this time, only had a few drinks. Very nice pub with a sunny beergarden. Very friendly staff. The pub looks very nice on the inside too. They have a very nice cider πŸΊπŸ‘πŸΌ we will certainly go back in the future and will try their food too. The menu we saw looked very tempting. Would certainly recommend this pub.

We came here for my birthday meal at the end of April. As its something on my bucket list we decided to eat dinner 'back to front' so we asked the staff of we could have our dessert first, and our starter last and despite being a strange request, the staff were more than happy to do it. We had the sticky toffee and the lemon tart to start - both delicious but the sticky toffee was one of the best we had ever had! We then had duck and sea bass for mains which was equally as delicious and then mussels and scallops to finish. The scallops were delicious but the mussels were very fishy so I'm not sure how fresh they were, but it was a Monday night so we guessed they may have just been the last of the batch from the weekend and the rest of the food was so amazing that we were happy to let that slide! The waitress was really friendly and they had the fire on as it was a rainy and windy night so it was a lovely cosy setting! We had a really lovely time! Would definitely visit again! Thank you!

Trip from London to visit area, beautiful location and good atmosphere on a Saturday evening. We were willing to enjoy our visit having dinner outside as many other guests. We were advised that we could not have dinner in the garden due to staffing issues. We were happy to have dinner inside and we all moved inside and we chose from the menu we were given. As we proceed with orders we were informed that we cannot have dinner inside either for the same staffing problem. Very poor service indeed. Not worth the visit at all.

Wonderful traditional pub, sat near the open fire, we had a very nice Sunday brunch experience. Coffee and food was excellent quality and surprisingly good value for money. Service was equally excellent from some lovely staff. Will definitely come again!

More than a pub - good surroundings but we didn't find the food was as good as it should have been. Lovely presentation but cost a lot for what it was. When going to pay bill there was a 10% service charge - another thing we don't agree with but being typical British we paid it. We performed the relaxed atmosphere of the Sugar Loaves and our meal there was amazing.

Came here for the 'Wellington Wednesday' special for my 11 year old daughters Birthday meal. She is quite a foodie so we thought this would be a lovely treat. Indeed it was! From the moment we arrived the service was brilliant. Attentive ,but relaxed and fun which is how we like it. The starters were lovely ; I had Salmon and my daughter the Scallops. We also had the bread and olives and both were divine. Well, The Beef Wellington was superb ! Such a generous portion, plus the vegetable sides were also both generous and delicious. Being greedy and being that it was a special occasion we both had desserts which were to die for. All this and in a lovely ambiance in a pretty Kentish village pub. Great value for money in my opinion at this standard. Well done. We shall return !!!! :)

Wild mushroom gnocchi, watermelon salad and the sweet potato side dish were fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed how fresh the food was. The pistachio sponge and coffee creme brulee were to die for β™₯. Great vibes!!!

Tasty Sunday Roast Lamb with local Kentish cider. Really enjoyed the food and drink! The espresso was muddy and thick too - just how I like it! Staff were friendly and helpful. Certainly not a cheap place but well worth the pennies. They've started serving breakfast on the weekend too so I'll have to check this out.

The food was excellent, the staff were polite and lovely and the ambience was good, only spoilt by a rather loud and raucous table next to us, who got progressively louder as the evening went on, resulting in us going home to enjoy coffee! I think we were just unlucky with our table position on this occasion.

Amazing food, along with friendly staff members. Plenty car parking in the back and lovely indoor and outdoor area to sit. Definitely worth the visit, will be back again soon.
