Great hike with fabulous views overlooking Tokyo , only 1.5 hours drive. We underestimated the difficulty as it snowed the day before and was very slippery and wet with the melting snow. It was worth the climb as there is a cheat way out at the peak, that is take the ropeway cable car down if youu are exhausted. 😉

Perfect but a bit challenging hike. Best is to do it during spring season, you're not sweating so much 😂 definitely don't underestimate to take good hiking shoes. Best to start from Tsutsuji Gaoka station.

Apart from being an option for a resonably short hiking session, if you are in for great views, this is the place to go! If you don't feel like hiking two hours to the shrine there is also the option of taking the lift. I would however advice taking the long route, since the trail from the lift station to the shrine is one of the most fun and beautiful hiking paths, that I experienced in Japan so far. Apart from that you get an authentic localy harvested meal at the lift station. The parking lots are often a little bit full, which is sadly not that great for accessibility by car.
