So disappointed in how run down this beautiful and historical town has become. The filth and litter is unbelievable, pot holed roads. We had wanted to have a meal there whilst exploring but decided against it as everywhere is so filthy and even cut our exploring short because it was just so unpleasant there. Sad, because there are still some beautiful buildings and so much history.

Enjoy a lovely take on history and visit a old prison! Very unique experience with a Café inside☺️ and enjoy a lovely walk in the park right next door

To visit Grahamstown, now renamed Makhanda, is a remarkable experience. It is a town steeped in history with the Cathedral dating back to 1824. On Sunday, various schools took part in the Remembrance Day commemoration. A quaint town with donkeys and cattle roaming the streets. A must visit if you go on a road trip to the Eastern Cape.

Beautiful town and buildings. Only a real pity that the roads are in such a bad shape.

Great place to explore a mix between farm, rural, and township life in an urban setup. It is a home to a Rhodes University and one of histori cal cathedrals. Old Gaol is a jail life hotel on3 may wish to experience and learn the rich history.

It's good. Got some prehistoric buildings from Aparthied what tones but it is nicely protected and people are engaging. Tourist attraction and nice houses

Good sites to check out. The town is on a hill. Awesome Bed n Breakfast lodges just across the N2 with that out-in-the-wild feel.

We visited Grahamstown but were not impressed. Although it is a town full of history and beautiful old buildings it is dirty and untidy. The city council must pick up their feet and start to do what they are supposed to. When you enter the town from Port Alfred there are huge amounts of home refuse strewn on the sides of the road. Pathetic and not worth a visit.
