On
arrival
I
was
greeted
by
the
call
of
the
Knysna
Turaco.
It’s
a
new
course
I
was
told.
So
new
it’s
GPS
map
was
not
yet
on
Handicaps
Network
Africa
App.
Mark,
in
the
Proshop,
was
helpful
with
a
few
tips
on
how
to
play
the
course.
I
decided
to
walk
the
course,
which
i
find
so
much
better,
being
able
to
absorb
and
enjoy
so
much
more
than
just
golf.
It
was
a
cloudy
day
with
slight
breeze.
Without
it
I
am
told
it
can
get
very
hot.
The
first
9
holes
are
quite
a
climb
with
the
6th
being
the
highest
point
on
the
course.
Views
back
to
the
Clubhouse
are
stunning.
The
first
nine
fairways
weren’t
cut
probably
due
to
the
holidays
but
the
second
nine
were.
It
made
a
difference.
The
bunkers
had
damp
sand
due
to
recent
rains
but
needed
trimming.
Cart
paths
were
a
mix
of
gravel
&
concrete
strips.
The
intersection
of
the
1st
and
8th
is
eye
catching
as
are
the
segments
of
the
old
Port
Alfred-Grahamstown
rail
line.
You’ll
see
it
again
on
the
14th
with
its
40
speed
limit
sign.
Watch
out
for
distances
on
the
boards
and
on
the
ground
at
T-boxes.
They
aren’t
the
same.
The
9th
is
used
as
a
driving
range
-
just
as
well
I
wasn’t
playing
a
yellow
ball
as
balls
were
scattered
like
yellow
daisies
all
over
the
fairway.
I
stopped
briefly
for
water
halfway,
which
is
at
the
clubhouse,
so
I
cannot
comment
on
the
food.
Your
food
order
is
taken
at
the
Proshop
before
you
start.
The
second
nine
I
found
the
most
interesting.
The
11th
par
3
feels
a
bit
like
Legends
Golf
&
Safari
in
the
Waterberg,
but
without
the
need
for
a
helicopter
to
take
you
up.
On
my
way
down
the
path
from
the
T
box
to
the
green
I
saw
a
large
Water-monitor
lizard
basking
in
the
sun.
After
the
11th
water
comes
into
play.
At
the
14th
cart
tracks
became
very
muddy,
evidence
of
the
amount
of
rain
recently.
On
the
17th
it’s
worth
the
risk
of
driving
a
1-wood
for
the
green
with
some
space
on
the
right
if
you’re
likely
to
fade.
The
18th
has
a
downhill
and
then
a
steep
climb
to
the
green
at
the
clubhouse
making
for
an
interesting
finish.
The
greens
are
in
good
condition
some
with
interesting
contouring.
It
was
worth
the
trip
from
Port
Alfred
and
I’d
play
it
again.
Many
if
the
old
Grahamstown
GC
member
boards
are
on
display
in
the
clubhouse.
Unfortunately
none
of
this
history
is
explained
on
the
website.
