    This was one of the finest example of old chinese taoist/confusionist temple, before it get burned down in 1997 riot (yes makassar get it 1 year earlier to the notorious 1998 Jakarta Riot). The remnants of that are still on display, which is the front door facing Jl. Sulawesi. The rest of the temple is rebuilt into 4 storey building with a big statue of Ma Co on top of the roof blessing the harbour. Most of the statues inside are still the original old statues that are kept safe from the fire.

    One of the oldest Taoism temple in Makassar. I have been visiting it within last 2 decades. The only thing I don't like it was lack of cleanliness! Very dirty!
