This fabulous bar was the highlight of our stay in Melaka! It all started with the adventure of actually finding the bar (best hidden bar I've been to!) and then continued with the excellent service and cocktails. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

Thumbs up. This is really a speakeasy bar, not easy to be found, Google could only lead you to the approx location but you need to call them to know how to get there, even though their direction is clear but you will still end up not knowing which door to enter. Totally love it. Love the music, surrounding deco is jail-like, but cozy. We were lucky that day wasn't a busy night for them, if not they probably won't grant us entry, so I would suggest you book before going. We just leave it to Kenny and Andrew to decide for our drinks and they didn't let us down, cocktails are impressive and we really enjoy it. Kenny and Andrew are such a down to earth and friendly gentleman. Keep up the good work! Will definitely go again when we visit Melaka in the future.

This is truly a speakeasy.. if the kind bar owner didn't come down to pick us up, we probably would have never been able to find it. You have to make a reservation via FB messenger so they know when to expect you and can come get you. Drinks were all pretty enjoyable and well-priced. They managed to put a nice twist on my whisky sour as I had requested. You can ask the bartenders anything and they will answer.. including where they get their glasses from. We wanted to try the pods but those have to be ordered in advance. Theme of the place was.. confusing. In one corner you have colourful illustrations, on the the ceiling you have a bunch of chains, on the wall there is a height chart for you to take a mugshot, and then there are bras hanging at the bar. Basically the theme is rojak lah but a cute place nonetheless. This is a cash-only place that also accepts SGD.

Andrew and Kenny was entertaining at the very least, iconic for a Malaccan speakeasy experience. Drinks were above average, would recommend their shots! Definitely worth a visit as it holds dear what the word speakeasy used to mean. If you’re down for a speakeasy hopping in Malacca, don’t miss out on this location. You’ll feel like you’ve joined the 1 percentile of drunkards who made great decisions

TLDR: JUST VISIT, you won't regret it :) my friend recommended me to visit this bar and (as an occasional-drinker) i'm so glad i did. i visited this bar with my boyfriend and tried 5 drinks in total (whisky sour suntory, cosmopolitan, pina colada (expert cocktail), shirley temple, roku sour, and blue colada shots). all of them were so smooth?!?! i personally dislike the burn alcohol has on my throat but these drinks did not burn at all and i actually enjoyed it. !!! To get to the bar: ask the staff at Makan Avenue how to get to The Sandman (it's on the second level) as it's quite hidden! Do make a reservation before visiting. (it can get crowded, i was lucky enough to get bar seats!) Also they have the best staff, really welcoming! (shoutout to Kenny and Cherry - i hope i spelled your names right)

Gem of a cocktail bar - cozy atmosphere and a great service from competent bartenders. Classic cocktails and some interesting specialties (pod shots, clarified long island icetea w/ palm seed, homemade bathtub gins). Sit in the bar and have a chat with the guys - they're lovely! Hard to find, hard not to like. Loved their story- wish them all the best

This place is amazing if you can find it. Ask the haunted cafe for directions. Bartender was super friendly and helpful with recommendations. She also made quality drinks. 10/10 must visit if you are in Malacca.

The Sandman has an amazing environment and delicious well crafted cocktails. The owners and bartenders are friendly and attentive to your flavor palette. Their suggestions are spot on and build on the next drink. This is cocktail bar is a must visit for anyone who enjoys spirits and a comfortable chill environment.

Made reservation and was given directions to the bar - hard to find but truly a gem! Cozy place with knowledgeable bartenders who provide superb recommendations, very friendly and welcoming. Drinks are fascinating, definitely above expectations!

Secret, unpretentious speakeasy bar which is really hard to find but has great service and drinks. Just call them to come get you from downstairs. We had the cosmopolitan (7/10) and whisky sour (8/10) which were both great. Crew was really helpful in helping us pick out suitable drinks and the place has a relaxed vibe to it. Definitely try it if you're cocktail/speakeasy fan. Ask the bartender for a great mix!

Great knowledgeable bartender Andrew definitely knows his stuff. All the staff really friendly and made us feel really welcome thanks Kenny for the food/restaurant tips 😋 and good company all round. Great cocktails 🍸 and a really cool fun space. Just be aware it is cash only, no credit cards. Will be back to see you guys again for sure when we're back in Malacca 👍

If this is your first time here, you'll definitely need to ask them for directions... it is a secret hideout but once you find it, you will be well rewarded with friendly and passionate staff who knows their craft!! Their cocktails are superb and if you do not know what to order, just tell them your taste profile and they will recommend you some drinks that you will enjoy! Best place to have cocktail and chill in Melaka!!

Let’s just say we ended the night with a bang. Like most speakeasy bar it was a bit hard to locate but it’s definitely worth the sweat and tears. The drinks were well-made and Andrew the bartender greeted us with utmost hospitality. The song choices were jazzy & chill. Would 100% go back again on my next visit to malacca.

One of the best bars in Melaka if you fancy a nice cocktail with good vibes. It can be tricky to find the way in but defo worth a try. Friendly Malaysian will show you the way!
