Delicious food. It was busy and it was a long wait for food but worth it. Fresh yummy food. Sides were delicious too. Spicy tagliatelle had a good kick to it. Mexican burger was massive and meat well cooked. Dessert 5/5. Will definitely come back

Always a good choice for a family meal. The menu has something for everyone and the staff are lovely. Only complaint I have is that twice now I have tried to order the hot churros for desert and both times they were out of them, starting to wonder if they actually exist! I would highly recommend a meal here.

Staff friendly and attentive but food has gotten expensive. 30euro for 10 ounce steak and 8.95 for small desert. Would have given 4 stars in the past. Lunch menu is cheaper!

The food was fabulous and very filling but we were ages waiting on it, over 30 minutes and the place only had about 6 other customers. My main issue was the cost, €16 for just a gluten free burger. I was there for a special occasion, so I hadn't chosen this place. Just make sure if you go, you have plenty of money. We booked for 4 people originally and then a fifth person was added a day or two before, we were put in a booth and three of us were squished in with little space to eat comfortably. I would have preferred a bigger table, especially as covid hasn't gone yet and the restaurant definitely wasn't full. Now that I think of it, most of the customers were all in the same area as us so nobody was spaced out around the place. The staff were friendly enough though.

Great food and service is what you can expect at McGoverns. The roasted fillet of hake was perfectly cooked.

Very well positioned restaurant right in centre of Malahide. A good & varied menue available at affordable prices. Their steak comes as requested & portions are more than generous. Wine list offers good choices & not overly priced. On balance a very comfortable family restaurant. Not giving 5 stars as I ended up at table facing the wall.

Could not recommend this restaurant enough! Food is delicious, excellent value but its the staff that makes this place so special. We brought our toddler and couldn't have been more welcomed and accommodated. We returned with our newborn in his pram again the staff went above and beyond despite the restaurant being at capacity with every age of customer well looked after. Even with so much choice in Malahide McGoverns is a firm favourite.

Went here last night . Chicken burger was nice . If your going to charge nearly €9 for a slice of dry cake you should up standards. The place looks shabby . The bench my partner was sitting on was all ripped. Just shabby overall a bit disappointing but there are plenty of really good restaurants in malahide so I won’t be stuck.

I will never dine here again! I have eaten here several times and both the food and the service has always been excellent. However, after an extremely unpleasant experience this afternoon, I will not be returning. I booked a table for 3 of us for 3:30pm & we availed of the lunch special menu which ran until 4pm. When our bill came we were overcharged on ALL of our food!!!!! When I pointed this out to our server (young blonde lady wearing glasses), her attitude was beyond condescending! She questioned which chicken dish we had ordered (there was 1 chicken dish plus 2 hake!). I pointed out that we weren’t just overcharged on the chicken but that we were overcharged on ALL of our food! Again, she proceeded to query us on the “type” of chicken dish that we had ordered! I explained that we had all ordered from the “lunch special “ menu & that we couldn’t remember the specifics of the chicken dish but she continued to interrogate us about the chicken dish!!!! This began to draw attention from nearby tables which was extremely embarrassing! I asked our server to please go away and rectify the mistake that had been made. Then we were approached by ANOTHER staff member who began to interrogate us, yet again, on the specifics of the chicken dish! Seriously!!!!!! I once again explained that we had been overcharged on ALL of our dishes, NOT JUST THE CHICKEN!!!!! I have never been so embarrassed nor have I ever been treated which such disrespect (primarily from our young blonde server) for pointing out THEIR mistake!!!!! I will never eat here again & I eat in Malahide on a regular basis. It’s sad to see a very nice restaurant with excellent food be let down by its badly trained staff…

Lovely food, had the warm chicken salad. Big portion sizes. Biggest problem was the warm beer. Heineken and guinness were awful. Dont understand why draught beer comes out warm and undrinkable, especially guinness.

We were a 3 - generation family party of 6 adults and a little grandson , booked for dinner last Thursday evening . On arrival , the little chap was not of good cheer , and we feared that our experience might be curtailed , with a hasty meal . How wrong we were . Our Manageress / Waiter was superb . Books and crayons produced for Junior , his meal delivered first , and all was well . We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening , lovely food . To the staff of Mc Governs - - take a bow .

We went there for an evening meal. We didn't have a starter but then waited ages for our main course to be served which was ok. I had a Rhubarb fool for dessert which was amazing. Overall I wasn't really impressed.

Had a beautiful meal here this evening. My parents are older and find a lot of modern menus a bit challenging, but McGovern’s has something to appeal to everyone. The food was delicious, generous portions, and our waiter was genuinely top class, prompt and friendly. Very reasonably priced for the quality. It was very busy so I’d recommend a booking. The type of solid enjoyable restaurant that Ireland needs more of these days. Lovely pint of Guinness as well as a bonus!!

Very busy as fathers day so didnt mind waiting hour for just chicken wings & chips. Really disappointed with new menu though. Chicken pasta dish is gone & the chocolate pot for dessert. Even our lovely waitress said they were her fav 😞 . Food is fine but without my old time favourites, it won't be as regular a haunt

Frozen chips & onion rings. Like something out of Iceland. Horrible experience. The steak was also really fatty throughout the whole slice.. didn’t enjoy it what so ever. And it cost €80. Bit pricey for just to be serving frozen chips with steak… not what most steakhouses do… service was a bit slow too and our order was mucked up. They took ages to come with our bill. They weren’t even that busy and there was about 5 staff on floor. It could have been brought out a lot quicker. Won’t be back.

Went here for lunch with my mam today and we both ordered sea food chowder. I was enjoying my dish until about half way through I found a hair in the bowl (through a piece of carrot). I didn't want to cause a scene so pushed the bowl to one side and decided to quietly inform one of the staff when they came to check on us, as is normal in most establishments. Not the case here, 30 minutes went by before someone came over. I explained about the hair and said I'd just have a latte as I'd lost my appetite, my mam said she'd have one too. Another 30 mins passed and the staff member came back with one latte and a snide comment about how the hair couldn't have come from their kitchen as all the staff in there have short hair. He said maybe it had come from the ceiling which didn't make any sense. I pointed out regardless of where it had come from it was their responsibility as it was in my food. He said no it wasn't and that I'd eaten half the bowl anyway. I asked for the bill and sure enough I was charged for both sea food chowders. I asked for the manageress who had stood with her back to us the whole time. She was no better, she brought the bowl back out and I was able to lift the hair out with the carrot hanging from it. She reiterated that it couldn't be their staff as they have short hair. The absolute rudeness and disrespect of the manageress and male staff member who I think was Brazilian was astounding. I paid the bill minus my chowder and left the restaurant. As my mam got up to go she said to the staff member that his attitude was terrible and his parting words were 'sure she has a full belly and she had a nice coffee' I'm not sure where this family run restaurant get their staff but they were unprofessional and rude!!

Love McGovern's in Malahide - I've dined here many times and it always serves up some very tasty dishes... never mind the desserts (to die for!)

Lovely food. Burger was delicious. Everyone really enjoyed their food. Staff where helpful and friendly. Only 1 small criticism, was a very sunny day no blinds at window and air conditioning wasn't on. The people sat near the window had to move due heat and sun coming through Windows.

We arrived on spec on a Friday night and were accommodated by helpful, friendly staff with a table for three. We had two starters: pear and serrano salad and chili prawns, one as excellent as the other. Our mains were two burgers and mussels, on the menu as a starter but happily converted into a main for my crustacean-loving companion. Our desserts were ice cream trio and we shared a rhubarb fool. We drank on pint of Guinness and a lovely bottle of Rioja. The bill, rounded up with a tip was €150. This was great value for excellent tasty food, well-presented but the icing on the cake was the staff.

One of the best foods I've ever eaten and nicely served. Great and pleasant service, and restaurant is actually located in a strict center. Very reasonable prices

Went today and the food was lovely and staff friendly, however it was concerning they didn't follow covid regulations.. no vaccine cert requested on entry, in fact the server said if it was up to her she wouldn't ask at all...no phone number taking for track and trace.. this would put Me of going back.

Food is excellent, I did have an issue with my wine glass being removed from the table twice, my wife ordered a bottle of wine, I had a Guinness to start and intended helping her with the wine after. However on two occasions the waiters attempted to remove my wine glass. Were they short of glasses, I don't know but it was annoying. Similarly when we asked for the desert menu, we hadn't even opened it and a waiter came and asked if we had decided what we wanted. Two minor issues. Overall a pleasant evening. We would return.

As regular patrons of McGoverns which my wife and I and friends have enjoyed over the years tonight was a huge disappointment for my wife and her 2 friends. A complaint was made and the manageress merely said that prices had gone up and portions were reduced!!!!!!! No apology or other comment! Don't think we'll be going back in the near future.
