The Building is a remnant of the British rule currently used as an administrative center for the city of KL. The Building spans the entire street of Jalan Raja and forming the backdrop for the massive ground of the Merdeka Square. The humidity in Kuala Lumpur is the only thing that ruins the aura of the huge Independence Square.

British colony era government offices that was built in 1897. It used to have all necessary admin offices to run the colony courts etc but currently houses only ministry of tourism and culture which fits in perfectly with building style and makes them a natural/most suitable resident for historic reasons. The architecture is mixture of Mughal and Moorish design with long never ending verandas (corridors) thousands of arches and only two floors. In the middle there's a Big Ben of London style clock tower but with a copper dome instead. Due to its length, it's impossible to get this building in one shot because it's just tooo long stretching like a train. In a city that is constantly pushing upwards in terms of new construction, this heritage building is quite refreshing.

Probably the most beautiful government building in the country since 1894. A very iconic building, just opposite Dataran Merdeka. There is a nice garden behind the building.

Beautiful architecture, worth a visit if you're in the area. The KL Hop-On Hop-Off bus stops here, so if you're on that route, do consider it. The stonework is truly impressive. If you like architecture of this style, then you'll definitely want to make a visit.

A beautiful british time building built in 19th century has a charming look. That time, housed officers if British colonial administration and known as Government office. Now, houses both offices of Ministries of Tourism and Communication. Building has two stories with floor plan roughly shape of 'F'. Earlier, it was largest building with 137.2 m stretch. Central clock tower is 41m height. Two lower towers flanked clock tower each containing staircases. Design of the building might be from Muir Central College of Allahabad of India. Architects of this building duly reserve appreciation.

Gorgeous 1800s government building featuring copper domes & a large clocktower with a 1-ton bell. The entire compound makes for a pleasant stroll where you can admire moorish-style tile patterns and intricate windows and stairs.

Its grandeur and intricate design captivate the eye. Standing in front of this iconic landmark, I felt transported to a bygone era. The striking clock tower and the impressive façade tell stories of the country's colonial past. It is a true symbol of Kuala Lumpur's heritage and a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and admirers of exquisite architecture.

Absolutely stunning building. Sat by the nearby square for about an hour to gather my senses before going back on the road. The square itself was also very large yet comforting to relax around. Would absolutely go back

The building is simply majestic and built beautifully. It stood the test of time and waves of modernity hitting Malaysia, specifically Kuala Lumpur. It’s a famous backdrop of Kuala Lumpur that one must take photo at. On weekends, the roads are closed for vehicles, hence one can freely roam the road and appreciate the beauty of this building while taking as many photos as needed.

(Translated by Google) Sultan Abdul Samad's building was built in 1897, when Malaysia was still under British colonial rule. The name was taken from the sultan who ruled Selangor in that era. The Sultan Abdul Samad Building was used as the administrative secretariat of the colonial government. Sultan Abdul Samad's building is known to have a 41.2 meter high clock tower. It looks majestic, its dome striking with a brick-red copper layer. The beauty of the building is often immortalized as a backdrop for the parade of Malaysia's Independence Day celebrations. Located east of Dataran Merdeka and Royal Selangor Club, Sultan Abdul Samad Building can be reached by a ten-minute walk from Masjid Jamek LRT station. Although now functioning as the Supreme Court and the High Court, the building remains the most popular tourist attraction. In front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building lies the vast Merdeka Plain which is one of the tourist destinations in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dataran merdeka is a regional landmark consisting of several ancient buildings on one side and a large square on the other. This field is a historical witness when the British Union Jack flag was lowered and the Malaysian flag was first raised on August 31, 1957. Since then, every day of Malaysian independence there was held an Independence Day Parade. Before independence, this field was called Selangor Club Padang which was owned by Selangor Club. The field was then moved across the Merdeka Plain. (Original) Gedung Sultan Abdul Samad dibangun pada 1897, saat Malaysia masih di bawah kekuasaan kolonial Inggris. Namanya diambil dari sultan yang memerintah Selangor pada era itu. Dulunya Gedung Sultan Abdul Samad dijadikan sekretariat administrasi pemerintah kolonial. Gedung Sultan Abdul Samad dikenal memiliki menara jam setinggi 41,2 meter.

You cannot go inside the buiding but you can take a walk around it to see the exterior design. There are many other beautiful buildings around it that you can visit too. However, it is pretty hot in May. Remember to bring some drink or an umbrella/ a hat with you.

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is an iconic landmark in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Completed in 1897, it was named after Sultan Abdul Samad, the reigning sultan of Selangor at that time. The building served as the administrative center of British colonial rule and housed various government offices. Its distinctive Moorish architecture, designed by A.C. Over the years, the building has witnessed significant historical events and remains an important symbol of Malaysia's colonial past.

This is a building on the eastern boundary of Merdeka Square and never ceases to amaze every time I visit the square. It’s a beautiful example of Indo-Islamic style, which was ironically built by the British as an administrative building, but now houses a couple of Malaysian government ministries. The building has a pretty two tone colour scheme of desert sand and red, the latter for the upper parts of the building. The two spiral towers flanking the entrances and clock tower are especially pretty.

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building in Kuala Lumpur is a must visit for anyone interested in Malaysian history and architecture. This beautiful and iconic building was built in the late 19th century during British colonial rule, and it has since become a symbol of Malaysia's independence and progress. The building's unique design combines elements of British and Islamic architecture. Its most notable features include the copper dome and clock tower, as well as the beautiful arches and columns that adorn its façade. Inside, visitors can explore the building's various halls and chambers, which have been restored to their original glory. The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is also a popular spot for photography enthusiasts. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for a beautiful spot to take photos, this iconic building is definitely worth a visit.

This is one of my favourite landmarks in Kuala Lumpur. Never get bored coming here. There are so many beautiful spots here, and also, it's usually not so crowded here, even on the weekends. There are so many sitting areas in every corner. It's a good place just to chill alone or with friends. You can also bring a book and read it here. Worth to visit!!

The iconic Sultan Abdul Samad building is located in front of Dataran Merdeka and Royal Selangor Club, along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman. It was completed in 1897 by A.C. Norman. During the time of the British administration in Malaya, it was used to house several government departments. Today, this historical building houses the Supreme and High Courts. The building with unique Moorish designs and clock tower is widely photographed by visitors to the city centre. On important occasions, the building is decorated with colourful lights and flags. The historic Dataran Merdeka, where the Union Flag was lowered and the Malayan flag hoisted for the first time on 31 August 1957, is also just across the street from the Sultan Abdul Samad building.

Iconic landmark of Malaysia, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building (Malay: Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad; Jawi: باڠونن سلطان عبدالصمد) is a late-nineteenth century building located along Jalan Raja in front of the Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square) and the Royal Selangor Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In 1974 it was renamed after Sultan Abdul Samad, the reigning sultan of Selangor at the time when construction began.

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is among Kuala Lumpur’s earliest Moorish-style buildings. It is set to the east of Merdeka Square (Dataran Merdeka) and the Royal Selangor Club, across from Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin. It was built in 1897 and was named after the reigning sultan of Selangor at the time. The distinguished landmark originally served as the secretariat for the colonial British administration. Designed by AC Norman, the architect responsible for Masjid Jamek (Jamek Mosque), the historically-significant building used to house the superior courts of Malaysia: the Federal Court of Malaysia, the Court of Appeals and the High Court of Malaya, before they moved to Putrajaya.

Merdeka directly translates as ‘independence’ and it’s now the site where the country has celebrated Malayan independence since August 1957. We are at where it all began and the British colonial era left a significant mark on the citie’s architecture and the walking tour around the colonial buildings belongs among the touristic highlights of Kuala Lumpur. There is a lot of gems to be found, like the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, but the Sultan Abdul Samet building is definitely the top choice. You can for sure try to take a wholesome scenic shot of the magnificent building, but focusing on details may pay off even more.

From behind it also has very good eyesight. (Original) Está muy curada este edificio, por fuera se ve impresionante, me gustaría poder verlo por dentro. Desde temprano ya hay gente visitándolo. Government Office built in 1894 during British Colonial. In 1974 it was refurbished I to High Court of Malaya and renamed after Sultan Abdul Samad the reigning Selangor Sultan. When the Federal Court shifted to Putrajaya this building was abandoned and act as a landmark for KL. You can't enter I to this building but you can take photo from the outside.

Such a beautiful building, it is most beautiful in the morning before 11am before its too hot and at after dark when the building lights up. Behind the building is Masjid Jamek where the rivers meet and where Kuala Lumpur got its name. Infront of it is one of the world's tallest flag pole standing at 100metres and flying a 9mX2m national flag of Malaysia. This is truely a great place for Malaysians and tourists alike to visit.

(Translated by Google) Sultan Abdul Samad building .. Precisely in front of the independent plains. At that time it happened that the road was closed so we were able to capture images without being obstructed by passing vehicles .. (Original) Sultan Abdul Samad building.. Tepatnya di depan dataran merdeka. Waktu itu kebetulan jalan sedang di tutup so kami seronok lah bisa tangkap gambar tanpa terhalang kendaraan lalu lalang..

Exquisite. Around which many kind and friendly Malaysian families gather at night. Turns into walking street. Safe for many kids and parents to play. Eat and hangout in good breeze at night.

An iconic building in the center of KL. Great for photo opportunities, especially on a beautiful sunny day like today. There's nowhere to park really so best to take a cab

An iconic historical building in Kuala Lumpur, built during British Colonial era.

Truly a beautiful historical building. It should be maintained to allow future generations to understand the importance of a well designed and built structure. Even with less developed technology, it has lasted far longer than many other government buildings built after independence. I strongly suggest the building be made open to the public.

Yeah its a beautiful building but i just expected more from it and the fact you cannot enter most areas sucks because frankly there wasnt much to soak in from the outside and for a historic building it looked pretty dull.

Although it built during British Colonial 1894 as government offices. It renamed after Sultan Abdul Samad, the reigning Sultan of Selangor at the time when construction began in 1974, refurbished it into High Court of Malaya, then now, the Federal Court had shifted to Putrajaya, it become abandoned iconic buildings. Can't go in and only see around the buildings. It is really beautiful landmark buildings, hope more improvements and beautiful the buildings in future. Not bad if they turned into attraction bazaar like Central Market.😊

A must-visit in KL for a taste of its history and ofc for pictures, too. Mind that it’s crowded with people around the Dataran Merdeka and the main road is full of vehicles.

An incredibly beautiful building ! On the other hand, there is a blazing sun and very few trees to take shelter. I advise to go in the morning.

Absolutely stunning building. Sat by the nearby square for about an hour to gather my senses before going back on the road. The square itself was also very large yet comforting to relax around. Would absolutely go back

This is a special tourism attractions place. Its walking distance from Sultan Abdul Damad Building, River of Life, Dataran Merdeka, St Mary's Cathedral Church Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Library, Masjid Jamek. If you prepare to walk more, you will arrive China Town, Kuala Lumpur which we call Petaling Street. This building is right in front of Dataran Merdeka, the basement parking is next to Royal Selangor Club, as of now the parking is still free. This building is beautiful and unique in it stony appearance. This place is suitable to visit in morning or evening or at night, when it's not the hottest hour during the day. Opposite this building is #Dataran Merdeka. There will be road closure in front of this building on Sunday morning. Suitable for scooter, bicycle rider, hiking. Watch out my post for #Dataran Merdeka.

Visited on 18 Mar 2023. Really majestic building. I was told it used to serve as KL central train station back in colonial days and subsequently turned into a colonial office by the British

It was a great experience by visiting there with friends and family. Had a great time by spending a quality of time at the monument. One of the famous place in kula lumpur. This place has historical significance. When you visit the place you are amazed with the architecture and grandeur of the place. People who love the history will definitely enjoy. Place is well maintained

Loved this olde building that is privy to historical significance. Unfortunately its custodians could do more to maintain this grand building especially the board strategically placed outside. The picture and information are all faded to be of any use to a visitor and should definitely be replaced!
