Decided to try this food spot since I noticed some good reviews bout this place. Sadly the place disappointed me tremendously, the reviews didn’t match this restaurant whatsoever. Firstly, the prices of the food and drinks were exorbitant. Second, the service was subpar. Third, menus were misleading to what was served. Ordered banana leaf set which said will be served with 3 curries on the menu but however I received only one miserable curry. Forth, the lady at the counter was inconsiderate and unsympathetic with the constructive feedback I gave her. As a restaurant owner the right thing to do is to apologize and accept feedback to further improve, being defensive with the feedback a customer is giving with intentions so that the restaurant improves in areas where it lacks. Rm10.50 for a morru ? Just absurd. Lassis are priced similar to biryanis. Unbelievable. Even high end restaurants in KL don’t charge that much for a mere lassi. Please have your prices looked into and try to take feedback positively because customers are giving feedbacks with good intentions so food and service can be improved. 2 stars was for the food taste which was average to me, nothing special and nothing to brag about. Please take this comments positively and improve for better. Thx.

The food at Masala Hut Bayan Lepas is exceptional! Very tasty and well prepared and you can chose among many menu options either vege or non-vege. I love the service at the place and food especially briyani. The owner is so friendly with the guests and always takes care to offer the best quality! I highly recommend this place. Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely Masala Hut cafe . The service is unmatched. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best meal we had while in Masal Hut. Highly recommend!

Well I must admit somehow after countless times visiting Elit Heights somehow I never bother to check out this place until a colleague recommends this place to me. And I am glad I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Classic Mutton Masala Biryani and it is definitely delicious and at the same time I think it is very spicy too (I love spicy food in general). The mutton was also very nicely cooked and it is so tender and especially if you get the part with some fats you can feel as if it kinda melts in your mouth as you chew. For drinks I tried the Chai Masala tea. It was good but I have had better one at Halab. But around Bayan Lepas area, if you have a craving for Chai Masala tea then this is the place. Will definitely go back again to try the other menu item. Nice ambience and service is good too. No complaints. 😉

Been this place a couple of times, always maintain its quality. Recommend chicken rendang and garlic naan, especially garlic naan. Overall food is tasty, full of aromatic and spices.

This is the place if you are looking for Indian food with nice ambience and soft music. Good for friends and family. Loved their Signature Masala Fish Fry and Chilli Garlic Mushroom. Visited for the second time to try their Briyani. Had fish briyani and chicken briyani. It was good but extremely overpriced for less portion. Rice grains also burnt in their hot plate. Hope they can increase the portion. I found big chunk of tamarind pulp with the beans. Mango lassi also expensive.

We came at a group of 8 people for lunch and this is our go to place for Indian food We got a variety of biryani of chicken and mutton with interesting spices probably I will never figure out. The chicken 65 is pretty good, juicy Mango lassi is great, it comes great with spicy food. We also ordered spinach mutton which is also chewy and tasty Overall experience is nice we will definitely come back !

We were craving for some Indian food and we we're lazy to travel to town from bayan lepas. So we found this place with decent reviews. The place was easy to find, and the ambiance of the restaurant is nice. Menu wasn't as extensive as those places in town, but acceptable. Their food and taste is not exactly the typical Indian food we had. We are fans of Indian food and we prefer heavy spices, if you know what I mean. The food is great but lacking the Indian touch. It is more like a fusion between Western and Indian cuisine. Would recommend this place to people who prefers fusion type of Indian food.

Amazing seafood briyani a.k.a Kadal Briyani. Full of flavours in it which can be shared generously among 3pax 😋 Their service is amazing & love the ambience of the place too🙌🏾 Can’t wait to taste their food again once we can travel interstate 😋

Large portion biryani hot pot (maybe suitable for two if you order anything else). I usually ordered their chicken biryani or mutton biryani hot pot with masala chai. All have excellent taste. Recommended! I tried their mixed vegetable biryani hot pot too. Very different from what I expected. They used mostly potato, with broccoli and carrot as main ingredients. Nice shop ambience. Suitable for family or group dining. They also change their menu sometimes to make it more interesting. The waiting time might be a bit longer if you order a hot pot dish. Stumble across this restaurant on social media. It's near my office and thought of trying out one day, I didn't regret my decision. The food is great, kept coming back for lunch to try other food on the menu. One fine day managed to meet the owner who is the cook as well. Amazingly he explained about his menu and ingredients used and how he prepares the food from scratch. A must try Indian food restaurant in Penang.

I have been to this place before initially when it opened , at that point it was very new n starting up. This review is after few years I am going back again and I am amazed with food quality now. They have really beat my expectations on food. Food was really good. Vegetarian variety is awesome. Well cooked. Amazing taste! Well done!

Best vegetarian briyani.. There are alot of vegetarian options and would recommend for vegetarians.. The way the food was presented was really nice and the flavour of the briyani tasted very nice.. the owner was very friendly..

Excellent food taste. Nice environment Food prices is acceptable however we feel the food amount is less Very less mutton pieces in dishes, only fat portion , less meat. Food stock finished fast. We were there at 1:30pm on Saturday, but most of the seafood and mutton items sold out

First time to Masala Hut,, 5 of us. this cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! Attended by friendly hosts.. The dishes were delicious. Prawn masala fry, chilli garlic chicken fry and masala chai were superb👌🏻. Recommend to everyone! would definitely come back here again and again..

Keep coming back for the hot stone mutton rogan josh briyani. They are good. The restaurant was upgraded recently and it's more comfy now.

Restaurant interiors setup was cool and the food super delicious. The restaurant looks divine with smooth music and also hygienic. Highly recommended for those are vegetarian looking for North indian , South Indian and western vegetarian food it's suitable and comfortable option bring family or friends. They've many varieties of vegetarian menus.

Place looks good with nice decorations. I tried this place first time and promise would never go back to this shop. I get it that Penang had water shortage issues but if you are gonna tell your customers that “we don’t have this and that because we just opened after 3 days due to water issues”, that’s just ridiculous. You had 3 days to prepare all necessary stocks and supplies and yet you opened business unprepared. The worst part is I ordered paratha and I got a READY MADE paratha on my plate!!!!!!!! Unbelievable for a restaurant to do this!! I felt cheated and yes that was my first and last going there.

The ambiance of the restaurant is delightful and the staff are really friendly. The food is good too. Loved their briyani as it is serve with a small portion of delicious vegetables. I would personally suggest prawn or fish briyani. The chicken briyani was good too but it was abit dry but you can request for kurma gravy. It's abit pricey compare to other Indian restaurants especially their drinks (RM8 for masala tea). Finding parking during peak hour is hard too. Overall, its a good place to dine with family and friends.

Cozy Environment, quite chill. I wanted normal biryani, but the waiter suggested to try out one of their signature dishes, its like biryani in a claypot, but at the bottom would be curry, I dint like it very much, but that's okay. Just wasn't happy with the coffee, such a small mug but @ RM6? cmon

Personally, this is easily my best ever indian restaurant in Penang! Great great atmosphere, and the food is simply exceptional! Very addictive. Once you taste any of their dishes, you’ll want to keep going back! Recently tried their satti soru (clay pot rice) and it was divine! I hope you’ll always serve with the ambience and extraordinary taste!

Very expensive not worth for the price. Such as mutton with fatty was RM27.90, warm water 80cents with tiger beer glass and veg set suppose b with free warm Water .

Super Yummylicious Rendang Curry & Chicken Biryani

My husband and I went for his birthday lunch. We had classic naan masala pizza, masala Bru coffee, prawn briyani and fish Tikka masala. All the items were super good. I have always rated Karaikudi prawn briyani as the best. This briyani sure does come to the same par. They even gave discounts for the birthday meal. Will surely go again.

If you want to taste new Indian food flavours this is the place. The food and service are good. The only setback would be the high pricing. They could attract more customers if their pricing is more competitive.

Ordered on grabfood. The tandoori chicken was very salty and portion was really small - only 1 drumstick. It's clear they knew it was going to be that size because the packaging was already small. Very shady. It had a very odd perfume smell and taste, as if someone sprayed body perfume on it. Naan bread was undercooked.For the price they charge, better go for kapitan or other mamak shop. Will not order here again after the experience.

This is a wonderful restaurant. The food is delicious and the portions are generous. I have been there for two times already and plan to go back again soon! The first time I had their salan and naan bread and it was excellent. I just had a creamy veg chicken masala and biryani rice and both dishes were delicious. There is a wide range of vegetarian food, in fact the menu is quite extensive. The servings are large and the second time I was unable to finish. Prices are really good and I really didn't expect to find a good value restaurant like this in Penang. The service here is very friendly, I didn’t feel rushed and the service was attentive. If you’re after some Indian food, or just a good meal, I strongly recommend this restaurant.

The food sender gentleman also super friendly and well manner. 4. Food taste : If you go for light taste, this is well recommended. The Tandoori chicken was nicely cook, juicy inside, perfectly marinated. Fish Biryani was surprisingly good, fresh and no fishy smell. The mutton was excellent, tender, juicy and it's was just perfectly cook, just right!!!
