Its been a long time since I saw Carpetbagger on the menu, so gave it a go. What a great steak, I ordered rare, which is not easy to get right on such a big piece of meat, and it was cooked perfectly. The sauce & mussels delicious. It wasn't in a traditional sliced & filled style, but folded. Well done guys.

This is the spot for meat lovers - well known by all the locals for the best steaks in the region. Tender and juicy steaks cooked to perfection. Has that perfect small town hospitality. Small play area, but ample run around area for the kids.

The food is really REALLY good. The waitress and the customers are very friendly. I did not like the dogs walking and scratching amongst us we ate.

I was traveling through South Africa, and during a night stop in Aliwal North and I was looking for a good dinner spot. I'm Excited to write we ended up having the best steak we have had in South Africa. The food here is absolutely amazing, the atmosphere is great and the owners are lovely. Even if you're not in the area you should visit the little ranch, it's magnificent!

Oh my word ! Delicous does not do the food justice. My brother who is VERY fussy said it was the best Lamb he has ever had. Honestly i would drive back on that most horrid road between ficksburg and zastron just to go to Aliwal North to have this food. The restaurant & decor is under whelming, the service is okay but the Chef knows his meat 👌💯%

We were welcomed by the 3 dachshunds, had a warm welcome.by the owner, a cosy table next round the fireplace and the most amazing t-bone staek and my wife had the best lamp chops, all done to perfection 👌 best place to for steaks and a most for a stay/stop over.

Great food and very friendly environment. Oom Francois set a really high standard for all the meals. It feels like you are in a different world when you step into the Little Ranch. And on hot evenings you can always cool down in the swimming pool/ reservoir and enjoy the view.

Had the garlic butter fillet. Cooked to perfection. An amazing venue with peacocks walking around.

We "googled" for a nice place to eat in Aliwal North and came across The Little Ranch. I read the wonderful reviews and was surprised to see one bad review!! So we had to go and experience it for ourselves... Hidden from town we found a cozy little ranch, where we were welcomed and greeted with a warm, friendly atmosphere. The coffee was out of this world. The pork ribs were as succulent as ever; the steaks good enough to leave Gordon Ramsay speechless..... I would definitely recommend this "Little Ranch" to everyone in and around town, and travellers just passing through. It's a happy family-friendly environment. We will be coming back - hungry for more!!

What a lovely little gem of a place. The steak was one of the best I have ever had! Lovely place for the kids to play. It is definetly worth a visit.

We were a party of 4 girls that wanted to split 2 main vegetarian meals. They charged us R80 for an extra plate without notifying us beforehand. The bill after the tip came to R480 for meals that were made mostly of frozen vegetables. We will not be returning.

I think if you are a meat eater, it's definitely the place for you to be..... Other wise, not for everyone. Maybe it's awesome for local kiddies' parties... ect other wise not a place for everyone.

By far the best Espetada we have ever eaten! Jeepers, it was good! Massive portion, so we shared the meal. Cooked to perfection. Friendly, efficient staff despite it being very busy. I cannot recommend The Little Ranch highly enough. We will most certainly be returning.

Walked in with a group of 10 for diner on Friday at 7pm and were told the kitchen was closed. Two of our lighter skin colleagues went there an hour later and were served diner and drinks till late! One patron joked as we left “ what’s wrong, chairs too uncomfortable for you?”

Probably THE most amazing piece of meat I’ve ever eaten. The food was of great quality and the portions are more than big enough to make a ‘big eater’ full. The staff is super friendly. The setup of this restaurant is great - lovely outside garden seating. It is an absolute vibe! There is enough space for the kids to run around and play while the parents enjoy their time having a drink. This is an absolute family pub & grill restaurant. I would definitely recommend that when you pass through Aliwal North, make sure that you go eat there. Best beef, pork and lamb I’ve ever tasted.

Although being a quaint restaurant / pub, it's full of atmosphere, with friendly hosts! The menu isn't extensive, but the dishes are superb!

Steak was huge, more than I was anticipating. Was well prepared and delicious. Well worth the visit. There are 4 Daschunds there that areca delight to have around, made me feel right at home

Very disappointing service from the head chef. Complained about the chips being oily and boy did she come out guns blazing with an attitude to inform us that wasn’t the case. No courtesy or acknowledgment of the issue we addressed

If you looking for a quiet place ,out of site where you can drink and grab your self chunk of steak, and eat in peace that's the place to go, I'd think twice about booking a room, unless you're into Old school farm style then just maybe you won't be disappointed 😞
