Enjoyable sunset views and overlooking the beach! Love this place! Take the trails around and up for different views. I had a great experience at the cliffs. Just be careful and don’t fall. There are only few parking spaces here. You can park along Dume Dr (1/2 mile from Point Dume, about 10-minute walk) It’s a pretty quick stop! Parking is a little tricky because it’s located near a neighborhood but must have people just go take quick pick and leave so you could wait for parking! Otherwise, very pretty sight!

One of our very favorite beaches. During the week is cost 6 dollars to park all day. The weekend was 8. It's clean and beautiful. There is a small simple hike through beautiful wildflowers. Gorgeous views from the stop. From what I saw it's not stroller friendly. Dogs are not allowed because of the wildlife that lives there. The one day we went there were many pods of dolphins, whales and sea lions. I have seen people rock climbing. I highly recommend this place. Clean bathrooms. Oh and they except card and cash for payment.

Being able to visit Point Dume was a spectacle. There are beautiful views of the beach below and the cliffs along the side of the shore. There is a trail that goes up to the top for fantastic views of the area. There is also a staircase that goes down to the beach and there is a path that goes to Pirates Cove. Simply outstanding experience.

Fun! Great views of the ocean, city, islands, and beautiful California coastline! Climb up the hill to see 360° views, 2 routes to choose from. No bathrooms on site. Hang out and watch the sea lions on the rocks and in the water below. We saw birds diving into the water. You might even see dolphins and whales! We did and it was nice to see. There's rock climbing on the other side of the hill by the beach.

Love this spot! It's like going to Big Sur without all the driving. Relatively secluded from housing and commercial projects, Point Dune is just past Malibu and features exciting cliffs that overlook an endless ocean. Looking down you can see the thrill of the water hitting rocks hundreds of feet below you with a fear and awe that makes you feel alive. There's also nice paved trails to the beach where surfers can enjoy the pleasant waters. Only bad thing is very limited parking. But there's additional parking few streets down - be prepared to walk a lot.

What a beauty! Point Dume has a short easy trail leading to some of the best views of Malibu. It is surreal. It is quite high which makes the wave watching experience even more amazing. I was here for sunset and the views from the cliff where stunning. My favorite part was to catch some of the sea lions surfing on the waves. Don't forget to bring a jacket as it can get chilly in the evening. There are only a few spots for parking at the entrance of the trail. There are a few other parking lots nearby where the sheriffs keep redirecting people to.

I went on a pleasant hike in Point Dume and let me tell you, the view was absolutely stunning. It was one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen. The way the sun hit the water was just perfect and made everything look so vibrant and alive. I'm so grateful for experiences like this that allow me to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of this world. It truly was an unforgettable experience.

Amazingly beautiful views, parking space is very small but quickly open up if you have a little patience. There’s a lot of stairs on one side, a lot of sand through the middle of it all and a lot of cliffs obviously. I would be very careful with kids especially and elders but other than that… absolutely breathtaking 😮‍💨❤️‍🔥 Update *** I Keep coming back ugh I love it so much.

It’s $8 for parking per car, which is acceptable. The parking lot is big and close to the trail. The trail is easy, which takes only about 10 mins to get to the top of the cliff. It is beautiful and super chill up there! Definitely worth the hike and the parking fee. Highly recommend this place if you have time. The beach is also pretty and clean, and it was not crowded when we visited today, on weekdays. There are also additional parking spots outside on the road, but it’s hard to find one.

Amazing hike and views. Fairly easy, not too steep at all, you can go high to the clouds or down by the water, but either way the views are fantastic. Great spot for sunrise/sunsets. Highly recommend the trek!

Perfect small nature excursion for out-of-town travelers. You can stay anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Well worth a visit if you want a good quick nature stop without committing to an all-day hike. Parking is a little difficult, there are only a few spots, but just keep your car at the parking lot entrance and wait for someone to leave, they will soon enough!

8/8 - Was sold parking ticket @ the south parking lot by the cliff. Cost me $15. NO spots were available!!! On the way out she raised the price to $20.!!!🤬 With no parking we drove to the top of the hill. There I got a $70. parking ticket.☹ Oh yeah, and a blister on my foot from the hot sand.😫 The day was............priceless!!!😊🙃😘

The shore is only accessible by a path down that uses a rope to help descend the last 30ft. It's not really that steep or treacherous, but I wouldn't advise it for anyone that wouldn't be able to do some mild climbing to get back up. That being said, it's definitely very worth it to see.

Beautiful place to view cliffs and the crashing waves. 3 view locations on the far top of the Dume within a 10min walk to the right and stairs down to the beach to the left. Parking is very limited, be aware of red zones and disabled parking, the sheriff arrives quickly. Recommended if you anyway drive by on the beach highway ⛱️

One of my favorites in Southern California. If you follow google maps, it will lead you to a parking lot next to the park. However, the lot is small and you might not be lucky. Note that there's parking at Zuma Beach and you can walk from there to point dume. It's free entry and you can see seals and other sea creatures if lucky. Have fun.

This hike is a must do if you’re in the area and looking for great views. If the free parking lot spots are taken there is an additional paid lot which isn’t too expensive, and it is basically at the foot of the hike plus have easy beach access. Parts of the hike are on sandy trail so I don’t recommend flip flops. Minimum runners. Awesome views from up top.

Amazing views, especially on a clear sunset with a few clouds in the sky to capture the hues of orange and pink. Hike is not too bad with vistas all along the way. Spring has several yellow flowers blooming. Parking up top can be limited and is enforced. Be careful if parking in the neighborhoods to make sure if there are any no parking signs, usually not too tough finding spots a few blocks away. Sea kayaking was fun, but really enjoyed rappelling off the cliffs which offer multiple routes. Rock climbing up was ok, not too difficult depending on the route. Really a beautiful area to check out and seeing someone get engaged every evening I have been there.

Magnificent place. Breath-taking view. Silence and peace. Where nature reigns supreme! Big flaw: the small and always full car park surrounded by roads with no parking allowed... Big shame!

Many hiking trails with dramatic ocean views. Great spot for a sunset or to whale watch. Dogs are not permitted. So don't bring one. You can observe sealions from a part of the trail as well.

Went to Point Dume on a last minute spontaneous trip that my wife had suggested the night before. We left O.C. around 10 AM Friday morning and arrived around 11:30 AM to get some coffee in Malibu and then we drove to Point Dume. The small parking area for the short walk to the cliff area was full and very busy with a long line of waiting cars. So I decided to go through the neighborhood and park on the beach parking area that was completely empty. We had a beach blanket, a football, badminton equipment and a great view of the amazing beach. The waves were huge and we enjoyed watching some surfers trying to catch a wave but the ocean was not having it. After almost 2 hours of playing and relaxing we headed back home. Our good friend had told us to go to Point Dume awhile back and now we’re glad we finally did. It’s a great place for a day trip and we were lucky to have experienced the beach in Point Dume like it was a private beach because it wasn’t busy and crowded with people.

Just Love Zuma Beach.. Every once in a while, Car Meets are held here, People also often Rock Climb during weekends, & an easy Hike up a Trail will lead to a Scenic (photo worthy) view at the top of a cliff. A Must to visit!!

There’s only about 10-14 parking spaces near the trail.. we went around 2pm and were able to find one. However shortly after there was a line of cars waiting for one to open up. The trail is really nice, short and there’s a bench at the top to relax a bit. Definitely liked and recommend this area.

We hiked up the dunes trail. It was very windy. Oh my gosh the view from the top was amazing! We saw seals playing in the ocean and some basking on rocks. At the very top we watched as 3 people scaled down the cliff. Down below the beaches were beautiful. Parking was very limited. But the ranger at our campground told us we could find parking on Greenwood not too far from the trail.

Very short but awesome experience. Little parking on top of the hill. If you drive down you will find a long strip of parking. $15 with debit card. I went on a sunday it was packed waited over 30min to find parking but found a spot. Worth every step

What an awesome place. Make sure you look down when you're hiking...tons of sea lions that sunbathe right on the beach! The tide pools are awesome...lots of sea life and cool crustaceans! Parking is tough, especially on the weekends. But the walk over from the street parking is worth it!

Came here to spot the seals that love to relax on the rocks. If you take the wooden bridge all the way to where it becomes a trail with metal railings, look down and you may spot these beauties sun bathing! Look close in the second photo (fully zoomed- not great quality).

What an amazing spot. Most of the negative reviews mention parking, you have to be smart enough to find the parking lot that has 100+ spots right on the beach.

We went to Point Dume, last week when they had extraordinary waves and wind and warnings to stay away from the beach. Of course, this attracted the surfers and made for great people watching in extraordinary circumstances with waves higher than we have ever seen and fierce winds. It was a fun experience and the sky felt magical. Because of the amount of rain LA has been experiencing, everything felt lush and green, and we found some good hiking nearby. If you are driving through Malibu, make this the stop for your day and you will feel amazing for the day. Parking was okay for us, but if you are trying to go the hilltop and park, don’t make the mistake we did and drive up the hill – park on the beachfront parking and walk because there are only 6 spots at the top of the hill.

It's an amazing sunset view. Usually, as scenic as you can imagine so pictures and videos always look amazing. Unfortunately, there's only 1 bench that seats 2, noticeable noisy cold wind is always blowing, and the walking surface is exposed to rock, like hiking trail rocks & debris with noticeable amounts of dust in the air. You get an odd mix of fresh ocean breeze and sandy rock dust from the surrounding bluffs & hills.

  • 5/5 Andy L. 6 months ago on Google
Very neat spot near Malibu. Bring your walking shoes and you can climb around on the hillside and the cliff for some cool views. Be sure to park at the bottom by the beach, as parking at the top is very limited and it gets crowded from all the cars.

"Point Dume is a natural wonder that epitomizes the beauty of the California coastline. This pristine spot offers breathtaking views, from its rugged cliffs to the vast Pacific Ocean. The short hike to the top of the point is worth every step, as it rewards you with a panoramic vista that is truly awe-inspiring. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a photographer, or just seeking a peaceful escape, Point Dume has something to offer. The crystal-clear waters below are perfect for swimming and surfing, and the sight of dolphins and whales is not uncommon. It's a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the natural splendor of Southern California."

What a great spot to drive down and relax on the beach! The view from the top was incredible. The hike isn’t too bad at all. There is a portion that is built on a clean path, however other areas is not man made and you have to be careful.

If you're only in LA for a short amount of time and wanted to briefly hit Highway 1 (which would totally should!), make sure you drive westbound/northbound at least until here. It's got breathtaking views from the top of the cliffs! You can spend about an hour wandering around and taking in the views. Note, however, that parking might be an issue. There are only a few free parking spaces outside of the entrance on top of the cliff, otherwise you'd need to do paid parking elsewhere.

  • 5/5 Alexander K. 1 year ago on Google
The Point Dume is in my opinion the most beautiful place in Malibu coast and it is easily accessible by public bus or car. Very short walk up the hill is worth your while because the views from up there are breathtaking. No photos or video could possibly recreate the beauty of this place. If you are in Malibu definitely go there.

Gorgeous! Great beach, beautiful landscape, good trails (they say no dogs, but it was totally dog friendly), stunning views. Much more private than Zuma. Great place for photos! Mine are from the top of an amazing cliff that, in my excitement to climb, I forgot to take a picture of. Enjoy!

  • 5/5 Sarah S. 2 years ago on Google
Really wanted to explore but we couldn't secure a parking space after waiting for quite awhile (very limited, only 5-6 + few handicapped spots), so I ran down to the overlook to see the view while my husband waited in the car at the road. Even on a cloudy/misty day it was beautiful! Loved the wild feel, felt far away from everything. Definitely recommend arriving early to find parking. We enjoyed breakfast earlier nearby at La Cafe de La Plage - delightful!

Amazing remote beach, there’s barely people there. Great for photos or videos. It got foggy during sunset but I guess we just weren’t lucky with the weather

The best place around LA to enjoy both sunrise and sunset. Parking is free but may get crowded during peak hours. Small hiking trails for great views.

such a beautiful spot it’s crazy. we got here just as the sun was beginning to set then stayed a little longer into the sunset. it was just a view. if you’re around malibu i would definitely come around here during sunset time. the pictures really speak for themselves.

👍👍 We saw the last sunset of 2021 here. It was absolutely stunning. The sea breeze blew away the bad to make way for the good. :-)
