S Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia, is a boys' private Anglican school providing primary and secondary education in Sri Lanka. its former pupils include four former Prime Ministers of Sri Lanka. Thomas’ College was founded by the first Bishop of Colombo, the Rt. Rev. James Chapman, D. D. It was his foremost vision to build a college and cathedral for the new Diocese of Colombo of the Church of Ceylon. Chapman's objective was to train a Christian clergy and to make children good citizens under the discipline and supervision of Christianity. An old boy of Eton College, Bishop Chapman founded the college on the Etonian model, and even borrowed the school motto, Esto Perpetuas from the prestigious English Public School. In 1852 Bishop Chapman laid the foundation stone of the college chapel on a hill in the school grounds. The chapel became Christ Church Cathedral of the Colombo Diocese of the Church of Ceylon when it was dedicated on 21 September 1854.

Thomas' Collegee is also famous for the Battle of the Blues( big match against Royal College) which is the second longest uninterrupted cricket tournament in the world. S. Thomas' College Preparatory School Kollupitiya (commonly known as 'Prep') which was the first preparatory school in Sri Lanka.

The college is divided into the primary (grades 1–5), lower secondary (grades 6–9) and upper secondary schools (grades 10 and 11), followed by the senior school. These combined sectors amount to the college's student body of approximately 2800 – stemming from varied faiths and ethnicities. The entrance to the school is marked by the awe-inspiring Chapel of the Transfiguration. Thomas’ provides a sound education in both Local (G.C.E. A/L & O/L) & London Examination systems. Instructions are given in all three mediums (English, Sinhala & Tamil) from Kindergarten to College Form classes (A/L). Among the best schools in the capital of Colombo for over a century. Managed by a senior clergy, known to be a christian school but my kids studied here and we were Muslims. Father in Charge was a very nice humble personality, very helpful.. An outstanding educational environment and the School is by the sea. Very well maintained. The old structure replicating parts similar to the Victorian period. I got a lot to say. Will come back for another review soon.

Well planned complex for multiple sports. 7 badminton courts are well maintained with plenty of seating. Regularly used for badminton & table tennis tournaments. Several squash courts too.

One of the perfect places for indoor games, in the country. Indoor stadium contain 7 Badminton courts. Table Tennis is also playing here. Washrooms are clean. The place is also clean and clear. Maybe parking can be a bit problem in crowded day.

Good spacious indoor sports stadium, but with horrible ventilation, with broken exhaust fans and poor air entry, it's like hell during hot weather.
