The Chorlton Cross shopping centre is being run down. For years there were rumours of the centre & office blocks being demolished for a housing development & it seems the pandemic lockdown has accelerated this. Several longstanding outlets never reopened after COVID, & several have closed since leaving many vacant shops. Boots are closing in November, leaving only Quality Save, Costa Coffee, Frosts Butchers, Timpsons locksmiths & one fruit & veg shop left. The other two are charity shops. It's a shame the shopping centre's been allowed to become rundown because of super high rents & business rates making shops uncompetitive, & driving customers away. It seems this has been done by design.

Visiting since the late 80's. Nothing fancy, the places that gave it character have largely gone. I still find it perfectly safe to visit, and the numerous takeaways are actually quite good. Criticisms are usually a case of the change of demography bringing out the race element in people, who taking parting shots as they move out, escape from the likes of 'me', to remote villages. However the decline appears to have been precipitated by the introduction of car park charges. I can, and do walk over with family, but no major shopping, need a car for that. Ironically the car park has been mostly empty nearly every time I've been there, yet the surrounding streets are always rather full.

What a shame. Chorlton is so expensive but the shopping is dire. Desolate and dismal.

Used to have better shops/more of a community feel etc—but I've heard it's being knocked down soon, so maybe nobody cares anymore? Shame.

Apart from the amazing Butchers this is quite a sad little arcade. Still, I'd prefer it to the proposed 200+ flats that some twattish developer is wanting to build.

Where have all the bakeries gone? Most of the shops are closed down, presumably in anticipation of the proposed redevelopment.

Such a shame to witness my place of birth and education deteriorate in this manner

Like coming here as there's a few independent shops as well as a few individual well know shops. Especially Like the little shop that sells the wool, crafty bits and handbags the lady is warm and welcoming every time we go in.

It's an ok place to visit. Charity shops, Boot's the chemist (service is very slow in this shop). Quality save has a good variety of products. 5 minute walk away is Morrisons.

Lovely little shopping centre in the heart of Chorlton. Easy access by car/bike/tram/bus/walking. Could do with more bicycle parking though and making it more secure. Other than that, absolutely lovely.

Lovely fresh veg at Tony the Greengrocers. Interesting craft shop with locally made gifts. Good, reasonably priced card shop with plenty to choose from. Small outside but lots of goodies inside shop opposite card shop selling craft making gear, lots of scarves even shopping trollies. Quality Save. Boots and a cafe within feet of each other.

Lovvve the charity shops here. Loads of cheap parking in car park directly behind (Nicolas Road). Quality Save, bakery, Costa, Fruit and Veg, Butchers and plants. Lovely new kiddies shop and other local gems.

Brilliant little shopping area with lots of lovely shops to browse around, staff always there to give you a helping hand if you need any assistance with anything. 👌Brought a lovely handbag while out shopping very pleased with price paid! 😁 Coffee shop & place to sit down very reasonable prices. Plenty of places to choose from with lovely bars where you can sit outside if you so wish & enjoy ones own company or with others. Nice restaurants for parties etc. Parking not too bad either! Evening time can get busy too pending where you want to eat or go to the local public house for a few drinks! Best to get their early if you want seating. A great place for a day or night out! 👌👍

I have shopped in Chorlton over the years and seen many changes while there are not a large variety of shops anymore, you can still buy lots of items there.

😠 The parking is an issue. If you need to come back within 2 hours because you forgot to purchase something, you're going to receive a hefty parking fine. Because of this, I avoid shopping here as much as I used to.
