Very limited choice of 2 starters and 2 mains using a Groupon deal. Wine was good and staff were also good but place was being renovated and lacked any coziness and atmosphere.

Disaster - don't waste your time and money. First, they didn't have dish we wished to order - which was the only vegan main course option on the menu. Then, they didn't have whisky we asked for. We were waiting for food for almost an hour. They forgot to bring us a drink we've ordered. At the end, we've asked for another straw because the one they gave us was completely broken and we never got it. You'd expect much more from such an expensive place.

First point, because of the refurb you go to the bar which is fair enough but its extremely dated. Secondly, the food was terrible, got one fish and chips, tiniest portion of chips and the fish was questionable. One curry, which was recommended and tatsed absolutely horrific. Tasted like it was from a jar. It is quite difficult to find also to be honest. Now the positives, the manager I spoke to on the phone prior to going was superrrr helpful, so thank you for that, sorted us out a table on the day.

I didn’t have high hopes for this place after reading some of the reviews posted here. However, we booked it as part of a ‘Date Night’ package with the Macdonald Hotel and I have to say I was actually very impressed with both the food and the service. I ordered fish and chips and my husband ordered the burger. My fish and chips was possibly the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant - perfectly cooked fish with the chunkiest chips I’ve ever seen! It came with a generous dollop of tartare sauce which was absolutely delicious. My husband’s burger also looked yummy - a proper thick juicy burger, well garnished and with a decent portion of fries. The waiting staff who served us were very polite and efficient too. I don’t think there’s anything I could find fault with. If I had to be picky about anything I’d say the air conditioning was possibly a bit on the chilly side but it didn’t make our evening any less enjoyable.

Booked in for an afternoon tea here as a part of the spa package next door. Very friendly staff, efficient and helpful. I had vegetarian sandwiches, some with cheese and some with hummus which was quite nice. Good selection of cakes as well. All in all i had a good time.

Ordered a steak at a steakhouse, asked for medium rare and got it well done. Waiter took it back, waited about 40 mins for my food, the rest of the table was done way before I got my own. Had to ask about my food while other tables got their food in between, and it came back well done again! By this point we were in a hurry because it took so long for me to get my food so I had to go to my event on an empty stomach. The drinks I ordered were also wrong to add more to the problem. Hotel itself was also not very nice, keycard constantly didn’t work which was lost time in Manchester to fix it constantly. Waste of time and money this place. The only thing they have going for them is that they’re right next to one of the stations, other than that it’s not worth it.

The food was fine and the staff very attentive. The issue was I could have the exact same meal at wetherspoons for a 10th of the price, nothing special.

The black pudding scotch egg starter was something special, though I didn't finish the piccalilli (it was nice, just over powering). The steak was really really good, i had the rib eye and they cooked it well with a good crisp outside. All in a great meal, pricey but worth it

The service and food in the steakhouse itself were exceptional. Staff were spot on and it was a lovely meal. It would have been better if the service at the bar downstairs was better though. Waited more than ten minutes to order a drink.... as did one or two other patrons. When we then ordered our bottle of wine we had to wait for it to be opened upstairs- no corkscrew at the bar? Just seemed a mismatch of services

The staff were friendly. Helpful descriptions of food. The steak was freshly cooked and tasty and had good value for money.

Service was very good, but everything else a let down. £18 beouf bourginon was average, but a small portion and presented in a really lacklustre, weird way - beef in a small casserole placed alongside the potato mash which was shaped into a smoothed peeled potato shape. No garnish on the plate. I had tarte tatin for pud (one of a only small hanful of options), and that arrived as a flat brown blob on cold, pastry, kinda odd pastry that was flat, tasteless but soggily flaky. Couldn't make out a single slice of apple either. Seemed as if something that was substandard to start with had then been frozen and 95% defrosted and served to me. Woeful. Ok if I was paying £7.95 for two courses, but I think this lot alone came to about £25. Plus, as others have said, no decent beers on offer either. Avoid. If you don't want to shlep into Mcr proper, try walking 2 mins down the road to Piccadilly station you'll get tastier food there.

As part of the McDonald's Manchester Hotel, celebrate your birthday or anniversary here and you will be enchanted by the environment and staff service. Costs are higher than average with a compulsory 12% service charge, but you pay for what you get in this world

Terrible experience all round. First we ordered the only decent beer they had in a bottle, to be be told there was none left even though we were one of their first customers. I ordered my steak medium and my partners rare. We received our steaks, mine was well done and dry, even though it was sitting in what looked like water, my partners was almost well done, called the waiter over and after what looked like a disagreement between him and chef had it recooked. It then came back blue and cold. We didn't have time to send it back AGAIN so he had to just eat it. The hand cut chips were not nice and some were still hard inside. The beer we had on tap was also horrible, so our complimentary drink we were offered we refused, as we couldn't drink the first one. And all for £65 as the not even 8oz steak was £26. Way overpriced and terrible.

We had a meal at this restaurant after it had supposedly been refurbished. My chair was broken, the menu was extremely limited, food was bland, only had one type of white wine that was undrinkable, no salt or pepper on table, had to ask for cutlery after each course. I spoke to the manager who couldn't care less. Will never return.
