Delicious food and the coffee was lovely. However, the mess of the place today was just awful to witness. I believe they had staffing issues but more needs to be done to keep the place neat, tidy and hygienic. For such a well renowned place this is just unacceptable - I hope they can sort the staffing as it’s such a good addition to Manchester.

Meh.. definitely not worth the hype!!! Overrated & not great customer service. There was a long que & I was charged 40p for oats milk! I'd not visit again. I sat downstairs & the table i sat at wasn't cleaned - you can tell they're short staffed, which is not great. I heard one staff talking to her colleague, in front of me, while making my coffee that she doesn't know why she accepted the shift and she looked quite annoyed. It's not what you want to experience as a customer. I paid 7.20 for flat white & cold croissant. The place was freezing!q

Super friendly and em inviting atmosphere with the usual Gail’s quality. The third Gail’s to open in Manchester and this is their largest so far. Spacious downstairs for eating in and large airy and bright upstairs. Excellent coffee with tasty pastries and cakes. Of course, friendly staff a plenty.

A very decent cafe with delicious bakery products !! They pay great attention to the details of their baking. I went there around 3pm, and there were enough seats and clean tables. At least there wasn't packed . Although I thought their coffee is not for me ❨I ordered a cup of flat white, it tasted a little bit sour. But this is only my preference, it doesn't mean their coffee is not good. ❩, I will go again for their pastry. The only thing I think they can do better which is the cleanliness of cutlery, I got a really terrible knife.

Been going around to all the artesian bakeries around the uk trying their white sourdough (I feel like this is the foundation to know if a bakery is good) and I finally got to Gail’s in Manchester (which is arguably slightly overhyped) I gave the white sourdough a 5/10, because the dough was tight and heavy and it was quite sweet, the exterior was crumbly and Il most cake-like, the dough was quite dense with few air bubbles and openings. They had a machine and sliced it for me, however, it was quite a faff and lead to the woman having to get a whole new loaf for us as she kept dropping the previous one. Overall, it is overhyped and had a less then average sourdough (even though it’s know for that) and I wouldn’t pay the price for it again; want to state that I’m not complaining, just comparing it to other venues I have been to. They also offer other breads, pastries, savoury foods like sandwiches and quiches, and drinks/coffees - I have also tried their butter croissant which was also average, their cinnamon bun which was quite tasty, a chai latte which tasted like straight cinnamon, and an iced chocolate which was decent. Not too fussed about returning. (This is just my opinion)

Nice pastries and muffins. The sourdough was disappointing - we bought the potato and rosemary one and it didn't taste of rosemary and was heavy + dry. Also, no dogs accepted inside which is really weird for a café in Manchester.

While shopping in Manchester, we saw a very long queue. Being nosey, we noticed the queue was outside Gail's Bakery. As we had things to do, we decided to carry on with our shopping and call back later in the day. By the time we returned, the queue had reduced considerably, and the service was fairly quick. As we had eaten lunch, we just shared an Almond Croissant, and I had Cappuccino. The Croissant was absolutely delicious, and the Cappuccino was fine. We decided to sit downstairs. I thought we had gone into an old style club. The music was way too loud. The place itself was fairly clean. However, they need to check the toilets more often. I think the attached picture says enough. I would visit again, I just wouldn't sit inside. Great products, just didn't like the atmosphere.

Cool, trendy, relaxed coffee shop. Good selection of baked and caked goods. All very tasty with excellent tea and coffee. A little pricy, but good location to watch the world go by.
