One of the worst customer service and dining experience I can recall. I bought a month pass at wacky warehouse to use with my three year old. Though soft play and lunch next door would be a good combo and I would become a regular. Ordered chips and apple juice for £5 but recieved smallest portion of chips. Then realised my month pass got me 10% discount on food and the children's chicken nuggets and chips were £3.30 so I could have had nuggets for 50p extra a thought that wouldent have occurred to me if the size of the chips was a decent portion. Asked if I could pay the difference. I would have payed £1 but was told no I had to order the children's meal additionally as there was no way the computer could handle that. I was told this by the manager. That's awful customer service. Couldn't believe it. I walked out. Won't return. Just lost a month's worth of business. Can't reccomend this place to anyone. I was looking forward to trying the Sunday dinner with friends and family but will find somewhere else now. It's really not difficult to give a good experience but this was an epic fail.

Absolutely appalling. Ordered food and drinks with our meal. The food came (shown in photo a mouldy pea which was complained about but not given any help by staff about) and we waited 45 mins for drinks. I asked a member of staff where the drinks might be (politely) and he said they will be with you in 5 so I thought okay, they must just be busy. Nope. Staff talking behind bar uninterested. Had to go to the bar, leaving food to go cold as I had to wait for drinks. Waited 15 minutes at the bar to be spoken to and nobody was interested to do their job so went to sit down. Complained again for the drinks. Took a further 20 mins to arrive and the assistant manager came over. This man was the rudest most disrespectful person I have ever come into contact with. I asked why I had to wait almost two hours for a drink he complained he was busy. From what I saw, he was not. He spoke to me in such a rude manner after I complained about the pea, the drinks and the meal overall with us having to leave it go cold. If i was a man, I would have not got this customer service from him. After discussing with him, he went to the bar and talked to staff members about our conversation. I felt so uncomfortable and out of place that I just decided to leave. I am appalled and completely taken back by how appalling this place handle customers. Do better. This was so wrong. The place could be so much better had they not been chatting and acknowledged customers. For reference- the “assistant manager” is some bald guy, be warned when visiting!

Visited here twice in 3 days. 6 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 dogs. Food came quickly. A mixture of menu items and carvery and we couldn’t fault any of it. The staff here are amazing, we were all made to feel very welcome (the dogs included). One evening we were celebrating a birthday and had taken our own cake with us. Nothing was too much bother for the staff and they kindly provided us with a lighter, knife and plates. Big shout out to Shane and his Dream Team, keep up the good work and next time we are in Manchester we will be back!

First time we had a Carvery at this Pub. Only the meat & yorkshire were nice - the veg is hard & undercooked, extremely greasy deep fried potatoes, actually the worst roast potatoes ever tasted- no wonder they take the meal payment upfront. Took Photos of the meals we both left on our plates to be thrown in bin by staff. £15+ wasted on 2 xs meals that we only ate the meat & yorkshire. My advice is "do not bother" ☆ we do not recommend ☆

Table was dirty, floor had food bits on it. Meal was nice. I mentioned to a colleague that we haven't got our desserts yet as it was about 40mins after ordering. One man on the bar and one jumped on every now and then to help and the place was very busy.

Barlow Croft is a well placed, large and open spaced pub owned by the Green King company. Very modern decor and tastefully laid out. Predominantly an eating style pub serving a wide variety of pub style meals with a wide choice on the menu. They do have a pool table, Sports are also shown on TV. Located near to TenPin, Ciniworld, Nandos, Wagmama, Fiveguys and the Wacky Warehouse it's an ideal meet-up place before moving on elsewhere. Travelodge is next door which also make this venue a good position as this Travelodge does not have a bar or serve food. I visited Sunday morning to try out the full English Breakfast which had been recommended to me a couple of nights earlier when I stopped off for a drink. The venue is nice, clean and very open, seating inside is comfortable and if the weather is good seating outside is also an option. Staff are well presented and smartly dressed and some will engage in conversation if you kick start it off. As well as the menu items there are daily specials. Parking is easy in a well lit carpark, disabled spaces are positioned right outside the entrance. Toilets are clean and to an excellent standard. Baby changing and disabled toilets are easily accessible. This is a nice venue, I would highly recommend it. Food cooked to order and arrived hot, overall the breakfast was nothing special, eggs looked perfect but for me the yoke needs to be runny, hash browns were bland and the beans were a little on the dry side. Sausages were perfect and very tasty. I'm not normally critical about an English Breakfast but to be honest after travelling around a lot I've had my fair share and think I'm in a good position to judge if this is good or not. The 4 Starr rating is because I was over charged on this visit, no idea how this could happen as its all on the touch screen tills with the prices already inputted. Once this was pointed out the staff member refunded the difference with no issues. If this review was informative enough for you give it a thumbs up or like to let other know about the place

Food was average. Nothing special. Had the mixed grill and the sausages felt and tasted like they had been sat around for hours. Ordered the steak medium rare and was given a very well done steak. One of the waitresses that someone has mentioned previously in a review was still incredibly rude considering she works in customer service. Don't expect anything special if you're visiting.

Thought I'd try it again after a bad meal last year and it's even worse. Got a chicken tikka, the chicken was like it had been boiled. I paid extra for a naan and got half a naan, also I got 1 portion of chips and got 12 chips thats 25p per chip. This place is ripping people right off. Talk about cut backs, this place takes it to another level. No wonder the place is empty. I WONT be back

Food was fine nice carvery, waited a long time for desert. Not great service told to find a clean table on arrival as they are short staffed. Noticed a lot if running around..... but going in n out of the kitchen empty handed instead of clearing tables on the way? Definitely need a manager with service in mind.

Went with my two young children, nieces and my brother and sister. I booked and reserved a table a few hours before, in person, while my children played in the Wacky. I asked staff if the carvery was available and what time it finished, I was told that the time I booked would be fine as the carvery ran til 8pm. Our reservation was at 5:45pm. When we came for our reservation, I ordered our food on the app. Once I had confirmed the table number and pressed order a waitress approached and told us that he carvery was no longer available, we were seated by the carvery and all the food was still displayed. I was able to change the child's carvery to another meal but felt rushed to order two other adult meals as the children were hungry. I ended up not ordering anything else and two of the party didn't eat. My bill was £70 and we instead of enjoying the food we didn't received 1/3 of what was ordered. This is twice I have attended this establishment with the intention of having a carvery and once I have got there found the carvery is off before the sign/website states. Staff very friendly though.

Booked ahead as we were going Sunday and know pub lunches are normally busier on Sundays. Welcomed by friendly staff, quick service on the bar, and great food choices! Large carvery plate is HUGE, so much food for just over a tenner! Will be back for carvery again!

We went for a carvery and were not disappointed. Huge portion of food, good choice of veggies and it was delicious. Dietary requirements of some of our party were catered to with no fuss. And the lady behind the bar was very friendly and helpful - thank you :) Would recommend.

When we walked in to an empty pub at 7.30pm we should have known we made a mistake, and should definitely have read the reviews in advance. Without a doubt, the worst pub I’ve ever eaten in, and our experience matches those that have already left reviews. I see management are responding to all the negative reviews on here, but it’s very clear that they do not take any of them on board. Honestly, even if all the other restaurants on Parrs Wood have long wait times, do not resort to coming here, you’ll regret it. Even the spoons would be a more positive life choice. Tonight they were telling people that they were only serving carvery and that the kitchen was closed because they had an inspection tomorrow. That should have rung alarm bells if the kitchen was so bad that they felt the need to close it for this inspection. Carvery was cold, everything on it was cheap and low quality to a point of being inedible. Drinks somehow took 20 minutes despite there literally being nobody else to serve! Even if you read everyone’s reviews and think “it can’t be that bad” - trust me, it is. They say that you get what you pay for, but even that has its lower limits! You’d have a better tasting meal if you went to Tesco over the road and bought a pot noodle. To reiterate, in case I’ve left any doubt in your head… don’t… just don’t!

When you read bad reviews and don't believe it - please do! Went there today with my kid to check for myself. I don't recommend it. Menu cards old, dirty and outdated. Stuff is very very slow, but friendly. Some looking at you avoid serving, some running around confused, some clearing the tables, which is all good, but not when people are queuing behind you and you just smiling impatiently as it takes about 15 min to get a drink to the point when you just want to walk out without paying. Very understuffed! Toilets are extremely dirty and smelly with no soap and tissue in. Food arrived ok. Tasted better. We both had some chips and peas. Chicken was ok. Ice cream sundae was lovely and arrived fast. Won't be hurrying back!

It is a really desperate place to eat in, AVOID EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE. I often visit Greene King carverys, but this place is by far the worst experience of the brand. The staff have no direction from the managing team. Tables are left to be cleared for up to 15 mins (whilst I was there), menu's and tables are generally dirty, staff hiding in the kitchen with a big queue waiting for the carvery, clients waiting for over 30 minutes for their food to arrive, children running around and screaming and taking their dirty plates into the kitchen!! bland tasting, semi warm food, and several customers rejecting their food and sending it back. Would not recommend, try some other local eateries.

Large mixed grill told I couldn't have my steak blue. Asked for it as rare as possible cane out medium my friend asked for medium came out well done. Soggy onion rings. 1 toilet had no paper in the dispenser the other toilet had no dispenser. Spoke with a waitress, her response was ill let my manager know. Didn't come VA k so had to hold going to the toilet. No checkback. Been a chef for 20 years know what a rare streak is. Amateur chefs ruined a perfect day

Went in to have a carvery, nobody greeted us or told us where to sit. So we went over to the right sat down and chose what we wanted to eat, we qued up to order for at least 15 minutes, whilst we were waiting the bar attendant continued to tell customers how fed up he was working, he then got an order through the app and started moaning why customers were ordering through the app. We eventually got the the bar and told him our table number he sorted of laughed and said you can’t order food from that table. We asked if they had a table to order food for 2 people to which they said no. I won’t be going here again very short staffed and there was only one person in there who genuinely seemed happy to be there that was a small girl I don’t know her name. But everybody else looked miserable and disinterested.

One of the worst places I've ever eaten. Waited 10 minutes to be seated, despite the fact that there were multiple staff members behind the bar chatting who avoided eye contact when we looked over. When we did eventually get told to find a table, it took 25 minutes for food to be brought out (after being told there was a 10 minute wait, it was almoat empty). All meals were brought out seperately, and the bread was mouldy. Server swapped the mouldy bread - for stale bread. Insisted quite rudely that it was fresh, even though it was hard and smelled funny. The fish was all batter with a tiny piece of fish at one end. Beans were cold. Lasagne tasted off and had been clearly sat for a while before being brought out as the top was cold and the sauce congealed. In the end, it worked out that we'd paid £25 between 2 adults and actually consumed half a bowl of cold fries and a glass of coke. The whole pub was disgusting. Food all over the floor, tables were sticky. When we stood to leave, our server (a short bald man with a sunflower lanyard) miraculously disappeared and was 'busy'. Staff all avoided eye contact. If I could give it no stars, I would.

Food was absolutely fine. Service was terrible. Left waiting at the wait to be seated sign for ages with no sign of staff on the restaurant floor. A waitress finally walked past and told us to choose seats. We could have done that ourselves earlier. Dirty tables with leftovers all over. Waitress was very surly and miserable and seemed offended id asked her to clean our table before she put our meals down as it stil had food stains etc from the previous customers. I usually order dessert for my children but we just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Greene King need to send their customer service trainers to this establishment as it is well under par and the air of depression and unhappiness was palpable.

I came to this delightful place for a celebration of my grandsons 4th birthday,From the moment I entered I was greeted by a member of the lovely people who work there,we were all seated all 20 of us,the staff were so attentive without being intrusive,we ordered our food, and without too much delay we were presented with lovely hot fresh food,a couple of us had a great carvery, the server was lovely, very professional and avoiding cross contamination by using a different knife for each meat, the prices are very reasonable, so if you would love to have a lovely meal with a friendly atmosphere, then I’ll recommend this place anytime 😋😋

  • 4/5 Fay B. 1 year ago on Google
Menu seems to have been shrunk. Had a meal here on 21st December, but unfortunately the grill was not working so no burgers, steak, chicken etc, so it minimised choices quite a bit. Carvery was "spot on" as usual with choice of 3 meats, lots of different veg, and the carvery is self service which I think is great.

Great place, great food, great staff. Went in on a Saturday afternoon, place was pretty full, good atmosphere and the staff pretty much run off their feet. Still a good service and the carvery food was excellent with very generous portions. I would deffinately recommend this place and will certainly be going back. A very pleasent family meal out with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Garlic bread was horrendous. Tasted like when a grill/oven hasn't been cleaned in forever & everything you cook taste like smoke from a house fire. The burger tasted the same. Chicken bites on the skewer were like popcorn chicken from Iceland & mushy inside. They took over 40 minutes to bring us desserts which was ice cream. Yes they were a little busy but no excuse to wait nearly an hour. Had I not been on meds that need to be took at a certain time I'd of left after the 1st bite. Cocktail was amazing & chips were nice but hard to get fries wrong. It's a good job they are hiring chefs because they certainly need them.

One of the worst meals we've ever had. Ordered vegan burgers, got beef burgers. Two beers, glasses were filthy. No cutlery, and table was covered with food and rubbish from previous customers. Staff didn't care, too busy chatting away with each other. Contacted management about our experience, tried to claim his staff wouldn't let things like mess up food orders, not clean or be attentive to customers (round about way of calling me a liar). I asked for a refund, was told I could claim a £30 voucher. Don't waste your time on this place, the sooner it gets shut down the better. Also, if the manager of Barlow Croft wants to comment on this asking for details, you know exactly what I'm referring to. Don't bother.

I am not truly sure what has happened to this venue in the last few months but it certainly has gone down hill a bit! The carvery still remains good but the service & beer quality has diminished. I am a regular visitor for carvery but on several occasions now the service has become abysmal. ( I don't blame staff) If you order on the app, be prepared for a long, long wait & to even have to ask where your drinks are, after you have eaten. it would be nice to have your drink with your meal!! The lager & bitter has a nasty taste & yesterday I sent back 2 different larger brands as they tasted like vinegar, this happened on my last visit also (almost seems like the lines have not be cleaned, I'm an ex-pub landlord so know beer quality) . The place is under staffed, We usually stay longer after eating but twice now we have just left and gone over to Wetherspoons. Advertised closing times are not adhered to!! It seems a shame as I really enjoy the carvery but if the standard's do not start to rise, I will have to sadly look elsewhere to eat. Please Green-King sort it out, from a local customer.

Just a general mess from start to finish the food was dry and disgusting there was no carvery, no Coca Cola, no slushes, no milkshakes. The place was dirty overall. Then we had to wait a lengthy amount of time for food that arrived dry the wings had no sauce, the steak was meant to be medium but it was dry and then there was over an hour wait for the children’s desserts that they admitted they forgot about 3 of the desserts being ice cream. No one came to collect the starter plates so we was stuck with them the entire meal. It’s just not on and the place needs a good clean, re stock and staff need training.

  • 1/5 Marcellina D. 9 months ago on Google
Waited 45min for a steak, which arrived stone cold and was definitely not medium rare - as ordered. The place looked understaffed. My plate was brought to the table by a kitchen staff that was on the phone majority of the time, while my steak was left on the pass for an infinite amount of time. They issued a refund, but I was left with empty stomach, even tho a carvery table was set up. They could have offered a steak re-fire, they could have offered a carvery plate, they could have offered at least a drink. Nope. Nothing at all. Very bad experience, upsetting and frustrating. A massive no from me.

5 star from me.. We arrived as a walk in… went to the bar and ordered our food with a very polite member of staff. We asked for two lattes and me being me, wanted an iced latte which the manager was very happy to do and may I add although it was in a plastic cup, it was absolutely gorgeous! 10/10 on the drink because I am very specific when it comes to my iced lattes 😂 Our food came, no check back but there’s no bad feedback from us, the food was lovely, HOT and juicy.. 2 empty plates as you seen! The manager on shift and gentleman behind the bar who served us were very lovely, I’m sorry I didn’t catch your names! (As I know it’s £3 a name mention) 😉 we definitely will be returning and hopefully catching them names! UPDATE! Wait! I got you’re names! Shane and our Dave 😂

We arrived on a Sunday evening and it was busy. The waiter went out the way to make a table for us both, he was very jolly and welcoming. The bar staff were very polite. The carvery was lovely, everything was fresh and hot. Prices are also very reasonable. Would come back again.

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
