Lovely pub in a great location👍 I like the outdoor seats on the street! And it’s in the local area but also not too far from the city centre! Friendly staff, and historical architecture inside👏

Dog friendly pub with a good selection of beers and spirits. We had a couple here on our way to New Islington. Was really lively at around 3pm on Saturday, great atmosphere and friendly staff

I first came here in 1974. It was shut for many a long year and fell into almost total disrepair. It has emerged as probably the best pub in this area of town. Great for real ale and cider. Very friendly pub. I love it..as does Martin Meerkat

I really liked this place. A fantastic range of beers ( I had a Wild Horse Brewing Co Oatmeal Stout 4.7% ( very tasty)). Katie who served me was friendly, knowledgeable about the drinks. Quirky ( I like) looking, Katie told me some of the history of the place. I'll certainly return.

Great pub, lots of craft ale available and the menus for these are on TVs on the walls. Really fast service and plenty of places to sit.

One of the best pubs in Manchester. Especially enjoyed my visit last week as they had an event showcasing local Manchester beers. All of the staff were super friendly and passionate about beer. My idea of heaven

First time visiting this pub. It has a great selection of drinks. And service was great. However the first impressions you gain upon entrance aren't great. Round the back of the bar is a lovely snug area and the decor improves massively but walking through the doors you would think someone had put a bar in a school cafeteria.

31/08/23: Vault City: Cloudy Lemonade sour 4.2% 05/07/23: [photo update] open plan bar, gone is the chalkboard trim. I wonder what the view from inside out will look like in a few years.... 26/05/21: 10/11/19: Peaky Blinders Night

Can't believe I'd never been in here before until Saturday evening just gone. Great place, fabulous selection of real ales in a fantastic old building. Good vibe and the customers attracted seem decent and not moronic. Will definitely be back sometime.

I was frequenting a wedding in Canna Galilee, where a traveling philosopher with a mighty beard transformed 120 gallons of water into wine. Even though there were plenty of guests they couldn't finish it all. I suggested they take it to Manchester, probably somewhere in the northern quarter, where it could be enjoyed by many. We boarded the ship where the philosopher had one more little prank up his sleeve, he turned the wine into beer. This place known as the crown and kettle was the first in all of Manchester to sell it. Well worth checking out. If you ask nicely they will show you the cellar where the philosopher stumbled down the stairs and bumped his head. Also as another interesting piece of historical significance, the toilet that Pontius Pilot sat in after the curry mile is still there to this day.

Love this pub. The tables outside are a real sun trap and haven for good vibes on sunny days. Massive selection of craft beers. Only one cider on draft but it’s a good one.

The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. The major problem was the gents' toilets were full of flies. People will always associate hygiene on the cleanliness of the toilets .

A great atmosphere. The bar can be very busy at times and can take a while to get served. Great outdoor seating area.

A lovely place for a quite drink with plenty of choice of cask and craft ales all served in top condition. A good atmosphere in the heart of Manchester and service with a smile on every visit we've had. The bar staff are happy to advise of any discounts on particular days or times and even make you aware about the Camra Members Discount that they offer. We will definitely visit again when in Manchester (Like we always do)

Love this place. Great beer offer. Well priced well kept . Efficient friendly staff. But sort the bogs out. The dryers don't work. And maybe some signs to suggest people wash their hands. Maybe there were and I missed them. Small details make the difference. Will be back. Used to be my local back in the day.

Fantastic pub. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable bar staff, and a killer selection of draft and cask. A must-visit in Manchester, if you're into your beers.

Visited today on the off chance it would be good after walking past and looking through the window and what a place it is! Huge historic high original ceilings in the 18th century pub, huge selection of craft and cask beer. Super friendly place. A absolute definite place to visit!

Seats are reminiscent of a cafe but the atmosphere was brilliant. Lovely historical ceiling detail and wide range of beers

Pretty solid pub , mid to high range price but there's plenty of rotation on the taps to keep things interesting, if you're the kind of person who likes to drink something new this is definitely worth a visit

Great friendly place. Lovely to see a pub trying to keep it's original features. Good range of beers and played good music too.

Great craft bar with lovely staff. Got busy on a Saturday night with friendly beautiful people. The pub decor is very interesting as it was built as a court house with gas lamps but turned into a public house directly.

Lovely pub, always try to visit here when in Manchester. Great selection of beers, friendly vibes and great staff.

Lovely pub. Had a sympathetic refurbishment during lockdown - looking sharp and maintaining view of a lovely old ceiling. Main room is light and airy. Snug at the back is reassuringly dark and has a wood stove for the colder days. Great selection of beers (mix of cask and keg - about 15 to 20 I reckon) and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
