Review of breakfast only! Nothing too fancy on the menu, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. There was a strange sickly sweet taste to the hollandaise sauce though. Would prefer fresh black pepper available on the table too. Paige, our server, was lovely. It was nice and quiet earlier in the morning.

Make sure to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a resort. They compare hundreds of booking web sites and typically will have prices a lot cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This place is the best rated in this area. I've been staying here for a very long time. If you stay for a few days you for sure won't be let down. Stayed here over Easter and loved it. Lovely and friendly host upon arrival and was able to check us in a bit earlier. Hotel room was very clean and I had the best sleep due to the super comfy big bed. 100% would recommend.

We went for breakfast and it was not good. Our lattes were great, but when the food came out I was really disappointed. I ordered poached eggs with smashed avocado on toast. My poached eggs were cooked fully, the toast was a small slice of cheap white bread rather than the sourdough bread I'm used to, and the avocado "spread" was brown and a very thin layer. It was really unappetizing and would not recommend this restaurant in general. There are much better options in the area.

Great Hotel and Lovely Pub. Stayed here at the weekend and found the hotel to be exactly what you want. Nice comfy king size bed, huge shower and lots of space. What made this hotel even better is the fact it sits on top of a lovely traditional pub that serves great beers! Staff were friendly and attentive. Would certainly stay again and look forward to popping in for a pint!

Thank you to the amazing staff, Steph, Alex and Alex (Manager) for looking after us so well. We had a private event in the upstairs bar and they couldn’t have looked after us more. Five star hospitality, amazing food, reasonably priced drinks (for the Northern Quarter) and really clean loos. Thank you for making us feel welcome and we will definitely love to come back one day. Would definitely recommend.

A large, friendly pub with an excellent food menu. We went for Sunday lunch and started with calamari and spiced hummus both of which were excellent, then moved onto the sharing Sunday platter which was both huge and superb. Beef, turkey, chicken, pork, boiled and roast potatoes, Yorkshire puds, sugar snap peas, mashed carrots, stuffing, pigs in blankets... I've probably missed off a few bits too! Highly recommended.

This should be two reviews really as we stayed in the hotel & ate & drank in the pub downstairs. But I don’t know how to do that here. So we stayed here for a gig at nearby Band on the Wall venue, arrived at 7.00pm, left at 9.00am the following morning. Our room was small but comfortable, clean & the bed & shower were both good. Is recommend this for a weekend break or to see a band. The pub had a decent but not great selection of beer. Staff were friendly & efficient. We ate there & the chicken pie for two was really good and extremely good value.

Amazing place, perfect hidden gem in the heart of Manchester. The room was perfect, with vaulted ceilings, a king plus size bed, massive TV, and a Tea and resting area. The morning breakfast included was delicious as well. Elliott went out of his way to make our stay a remarkable one. I highly recommend staying here.

A lovely old Manchester pub surrounded by history and easily located near the Northern Quarter. We were only here for drinks and there was plenty of room to sit and enjoy the afternoon sun.

It is not too far from restaurants, other pubs, shops and public transport, a nice variety of drinks to pick from, the tables near the toilet stairs, as you can imagine, can be overcome by the smell of the lavatories, but seating was quite comfortable with a cool ambience from the decor and lighting.

Me and my fiancé where pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the rooms are there, it was clean, comfortable and modern with a boutique feel which we thought was brilliant. The location of the place is not in the cleanest of areas, for example I went out for a cigarette in the morning and as there is no dedicated area to smoke I had to stand at the front and I don't know wether it was me overthinking it but you just get this unsafe vibe. I would highly recommend that you stay here as its unbelievable value for your money. If I could of given 6 stars I would. The staff are super friendly and extremely helpful, they couldn't do enough for us. They made us feel welcomed and we really appreciated that. Would we stay again? Yes because it's beautiful and great value for money , but on the other hand the only thing that may stop us is the run down area it is in.

A stylish and compact pub/hotel in Manchester city centre. Super convenient location with Arndale a three minute walk away and a car park by its doorstep. The check in was super easy with the reception near one of the entrances. The breakfast and in/out process was well explained. I booked a double room with breakfast and the room size was reasonable and the room itself was comfortable. However we were given an accessible room designed for a disable person so the bathroom facilities was not convenient for us at all. The sink was too low down and the toilet awkward to use. The whole bathroom felt like a hospital. Also, there was no lighting available on one side of the bed and the kettle was difficult to fill using the sink. The TV, tea and coffee facilities were all good. Heating was highly efficient and kept us warm all through the night. There is a continuous loud extractor fan noise all the time until 11pm which so assume is the actual kitchen downstairs. If you intend to stay in the room then make sure you take that into account. The breakfast was cooked with good quality ingredients but I did have a bit of egg shell in mine. The quality and quantity of tea was good.

Brilliant stay at the Abel Heywood. Good location, right next to the Arndale. Room was great, bed super comfortable. All amenities in the room. Pub downstairs was great value and packed even though a midweek. Breakfast was superb. Service throughout the hotel and pub was excellent. Overall amazing value here.

Location and bar is nice with a great selection of food. Big shame the staff now running the upstairs bar seem to be seriously upset with us for making them run the bar on the 1st floor. Even though we are smiling and saying thank you just doesn't want to smile or even be pleasant.

Superb atmosphere and staff wonderful drinks with friends and family. We had Sunday lunch share platter looks fantastic when delivered and is so big its should be called challenge platter. Dinner itself was very nice and the gravy very delightfully warming as it wasn’t the warmest of summer days.

I loved the room, it was separated in two sections, not with a door but very well separated. That meant when our kids were sleeping, we could have a drink 🍷 talk, and relax :) The large window 🪟 allowed stream of fresh air, and he room was super quiet. Beds comfort, the coffee ☕ was great And they provided lots of milk for tea/coffee - much more than we were used in other hotels. The food was spectacular too. Highly recommended - we would def return. We had the deluxe suit room.

A really pleasant place to stay, good beer selection. Breakfast and evening meal were excellent. The staff are very helpful, keep up the good work.

We went for food on a busy Saturday. The downstairs was completely full of people drinking- was told our table was upstairs. Food was good and staff were friendly, would always recommend to anyone wanting some good pub food if in Manchester!

Had an overnight in Manchester and a friend helped me get a room here. The place is centrally oocated so made getting to my appintments easy. The place itself was clean and service was very friendly. The rooms are compact, but have everything you could want and are spotlessly clean. I was pleasantly surprised how quiet considering how busy the pub downstairs was. The breakfast was lovely the following morning and others saud the main meals are equally as good, but I never had the opportunity to try myself. If you plan to stay here book early as getting a room can be tricky, but I can recommend it if you need a room in Manchester

Enjoyed a few drinks here on a chilled Thursday afternoon. Been here several times and will definitely be returning again. Drinks are competitively priced with cocktails 2 for £12.

I had my retirement party upstairs on the first floor last week. This was all organised with Alex the manager who was super helpful. The room is a great size and held about 70+ people easily. The staff on the bar were amazing and didn't stop all night. We ordered a mixture of cheese pie and steak and Ale pie for my guests along with a gluten free chicken supreme for my sister. All of the food was 10/10. I'm going to return soon to have another cheese pie, it was that good. My wife and I booked a room for the night and it was fantastic and equipped with everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and we slept like logs. ( the booze might have helped ) Overall I cant recommend this place enough

Ok. As reviews go this is an awkward one. Sometimes when you go somewhere it's that good you don't want to give it a good review so other people don't use it and it's all nice for you. That's the case with the Abel. Great selection of beers, wines and spirits plus good food and a good atmosphere and all at a good price. The location leaves it ideally placed for a break whilst shopping or as a venue for an evening together. The choice is yours. Enjoy but don't tell everyone!

Great value for money and the staff are great too. My partner left her headphones in the hotel and they kindly put them to one side until we could come back to pick them up. Location central and has a lovely bar on the ground floor also. Highly recommend.

A review for the pub only, I love the building, decor, seating arrangement and atmosphere of this place. It has huge windows with a spacious feel as well as a few privatish places. Been here many times and I love a good pint of Hyde's and love the way they do their pubs. We ate here once and although a bit pricey, all components of the two meals were cooked to a very high standard for a pub and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The only downside is not the best view outside.

Bitter sweet stay, me and my partner stayed for one night, the bar was nice and the staff are very friendly, breakfast was average, no real stand out ingredients but alright for just over 10 pound, the room was clean but could do with a little TLC the tiles in the bathroom need re-grouting and shower tray needs re-sealing, I would honestly of scored it 4 stars but the bed was as hard as a rock and didn't sleep much. But as mentioned above the staff are great!

I'm a regular here on a Thursday night. One of my favourite pubs in the city, and excellent value for the city centre, particularly on the cask. Quality selection of beers, including interesting cask ales although there isn't that much turnover and a lot of "coming soon" on these. However, we always come back for the friendly atmosphere.

Nice building and atmosphere but food very very average and overpriced. The vegan burger was so dry and the chips were frozen. Was not worth £14. Staff lovely though, especially the barman from Dublin! Would return for a drink but probably not food.

Stayed here a few weeks ago, really enjoyed our stay. Its so centrally located for shopping and exploring Manchester. Staff so nice and friendly, especially Eve, I think her name was , so helpful. Food very nice also, we had breakfast and an evening meal and both very reasonably priced . Will definitely stay here any time we're in Manchester in the future.

Great pub with loads of atmosphere ... can get very busy but it's big inside so plenty of room. Love the history of this place, seems like it's managed to hold on, while the older buildings around it have disappeared. It has lots of character. There is a room upstairs for private events and they serve food here as well, but we only had drinks There is a hotel attached as well, where we stayed it was lovely and would definitely come back

The room was spotlessly clean as usual. The bed was super comfy, and quiet. All the roorms and doors leading to rooms are very secure and only accessible by the key card There is always a nice atmosphere in the pub Friendly staff always happy to help Great food, prices aren't cheap but I guess you get what you pay for

A 'proper' Manchester pub, mixed full of locals, men and women, groups and couples. We had lunch. A good choice of real ales and the pie we had was good and hearty, obviously not factory made. Staff were helpful and friendly. Prices reasonable for a city centre. (It also houses a boutique hotel that we didn't see)

  • 4/5 Philip G. 1 year ago on Google
It's a busy modern, yet traditional pub. An excellent variety of draft beers. Staff are on the ball serving, far better than some pubs , and usually with a smile. Haven't tried the food, but seems popular, nor the accomodation so won't comment. Suffice to say it's a regular call in on our pub tours. Highly recommended.

We stayed here after our wedding and we were very pleased. The staff is amazing, especially Elliott, thank you for going out of your way to make our stay so very special. Wonderfully charming rooms and great location. The food was five stars as well. I highly recommend it.

Great Boutique style Hotel above the pub in Manchester Northern Quarter, very well appointed rooms ( ours was a suite)..two telly's a massive and very comfy bed and for a city centre location very quiet at night. Airy but still warm enough. Next morning found us enjoying a very hearty cooked breakfast with all the extras. Very well priced for the quality of accomodation.

The food (Sunday Dinner) was absolutely besutiful. We came in straight after work all staff were wonderful. Found us a table and our waiter - He was Irish and ive already forgotten his name! Was just amazing he had us in stitches and we had a wonderful chat and evening with him (give him a rise!) We will be definitely coming back and once again thank you so so much. Love the Virgin girls x

Living in Manchester we didn't stay so can't rate the rooms. We had a Sunday Roast and I have to say it's one of the best I've had in Manchester even the roast potatoes was really nice and that has been such a let down in other places. Big portion sizes and all tasted fresh with good quality ingredients. To make it even better the service was spot on despite being extremely busy. Would 100% recommend to anyone.

Stayed for two nights in May. Large room which was clean and quiet. Would definitely stay here again. Although it is worth noting, the car park recommended to use nearby is vile. I can think of no better word to describe it. This is not the hotels doing or their responsibility but is worth noting. I could see our car from our window which put me at ease a little bit more. But it was absolutely awful.

Have eaten here twice now. With vegan, vegetarian and meat eaters all together. Something on the menu for all of us. Food was wonderful, really tasty and cooked well. big portions, staff really helpful, friendly and accommodating. Great drinks and again made to specifications. Not too expensive for Northern Quarter. Busy but not rushed. Great food and drinks Friendly staff Highly recommended. Have not stayed in the hotel so cannot comment on that

Lovely pub in NQ. Service was exceptional and the staff were lovely. We were visiting for Sunday lunch with a toddler and a dog - all well accommodated for and looked after. Would definitely recommend. Only complaint is lack of non alcoholic options. Would be great to have some more interesting options available.

Fantastic hotel in the northern quarter. Room was a good size. Bed really comfortable. Everything we needed. The full English breakfast arrived piping hot too and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be returning and would 100% recommend to family and friends

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
