Had a great stay over the weekend for stag do. Very welcoming to our large group and made our experience very enjoyable. The hotel is located in the heart of Manchester overlooking Piccadilly gardens which you can admire through a panoramic view in the bar/restaurant area. 3 functioning lifts readily available as well as a stairwell for those who want to walk - not sure why other users complained about this. Rooms were clean, breakfast was good with plenty of options from cold to hot. There was a concierge ground floor so very safe too. #LobsterStagGuys

Great location in the city centre and if you're on the right side a great view over the city. The rooms are clean and tidy but as per many hotels still lack power sockets by the bed. It did have USB ports built into the bedside lights, however these are over a meter higher than the bed so unless you have a long charger cable, your phone will be dangling in the air.

Stayed here for a week and really enjoyed it. Booked a Standard Double Room, it is well-maintained and clean, and bed is very comfortable. View is also great as given a top floor room. Thereā€™s also free bottled water and biscuits in the room which is thoughtful especially after a long trip. Reception check in was smooth and staff are nice and attentive. Have stayed in a few hotels in Manchester before and this is my favourite, will visit again!

Me and my partner stopped over for 3 nights and it was a wonderful stay! Bed was super comfy, the room was lovely and clean when we arrived. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside is the lifts, I feel as though they were a little too small and there weren't enough for the location and how busy it seemed to be! Even though we are now coming out of COVID rules there's people like me who are still cautious of sharing such a small area with so many people especially during the hours where some are rushing in and out of the hotel. The price was about right too I'd say, being near all the great shopping spots in the city! Will definitely book again for when we next visit Manchester :)

I found the hotel clean and the housekeeping staff were friendly and pleasant. The room was lovely. however I found the reception staff unhelpful and unfriendly, I do think some customer service training would help. Unfortunately the fire alarm went off in the early hours of the morning (06/02/2023) which I do understand can happen. At no point during the fire alarm did any staff speak to any of the guests and one lady who had a disabled daughter tried to call for assistants but did not get any help to get down the stairs. It was a case that guests had to fend for themselves with no direction or help from staff. I never complain about my experiences in hotels normally but in this case I do feel that some of your staff need training. My family felt very unsafe during the whole experience. Nobody at any time counted the guests to see if everyone got out of their rooms. Thankfully there was no fire, if there had been some people would have died.

Recently stayed in the hotel, I stayed in one of the new refurbished rooms a big improvement from the old ones Iā€™m happy to say. I enjoyed my meal in the level 3 restaurant where I also tried the NEW menu. It was delicious food portions are great for what you pay and I was made an exception to sit at a table with a view. The team on level 3 are super accommodating and if you ask theyā€™ll try! Maisie, Magda and Neil had such a positive attitude and created a great atmosphere you couldnā€™t help but feel welcome. Would definitely visit even if youā€™re not staying in the hotel.

I thoroughly enjoyed my three night stay at this wonderful hotel. In particular the staff, Alex and team, were amazing, friendly and couldn't do enough to make me feel welcome and comfortable. Bear in mind this is an old building and some of the rooms are in need of a little bit of TLC but the views are fantastic and it's great to be able to stay in an iconic example of 60s modernist architecture. The restaurant and breakfast area particularly stylish. I would definitely recommend - worth requesting a more recently refurbished room if you do so.

Thank you to guest service manager, Deep for sorting out a problem and making it right. I really appreciate your kindness and for taking the time to allow me to have a nice stay. You made a difference and I would definitely come back and tell people how kind you were. They are lucky to have you on team. Thank you

We was unsure whether to book this hotel after reading the reviews, but we needed a hotel in the centre of Manchester with secure parking and this hotel has it. The reviews do not give it justice, the hotel is very clean, the service was very good at reception, there is nothing wrong with the choice of 3 lifts that take you to the room, the room was spotlessly clean with a big window the full length of the room, displaying spectacular views of Manchester at night, we had room service that night food and a bucket of ice for our drinks, couldn't fault it...delicious, air conditioning worked perfectly and we both slept like a log in the comfortable king size bed, had a great shower in the morning with plenty of pressure, Like I said at the beginning... The reviews do not give this hotel justice. The breakfast "delicious" Will we be coming back....yes, yes and yes

This is my second stay in this hotel. I was here back in 2019. The location is perfect, 5 minutes walking distance from the main train station in Manchester. The room was clean and had a city view. The staff were professional. And the price was great for my three day stay. I recommend it if you want to stay central and have access to the transportation.

Difficult stay, not very comfortable. Welcome The lifts were incredibly slow and always full, it took 10 minutes to get to the reception area and another 5 to get to your room. This didnā€™t improve and each time you wanted to use the lift, youā€™ll have a wait. We used the stairs to get back down but the were incorrectly labelled and sent you to the fire escape and into a back area of the hotel, surprisingly I found more lifts although these were for staff. Could this be a solution? Maybe have a set that go from ground to the reception and then another set that goes to the rooms? Surely the staff can mix with guests from time to time. Room The room was a bit dated, you could hear sounds coming from other rooms and soundproofing was non existent. The quality of the beds were poor and I didnā€™t have a good nights sleep at all. The bathroom was dated and was a little dirty around the edges. The room also struggles with dirty cups and lacking four star charm including not having a mini bar to store drinks etc. I was happy to leave. During our stay, the hotels fire alarm went off and we arrived back to the hotel to no less than 9 fire engines, although this wasnā€™t their fault, itā€™s something that apparently happens a lot at this location. I wonā€™t be staying with Mercure again, itā€™s just not worth it.

Great location right by Piccadilly Gardens with parking right by the hotel. Good price too with friendly professional staff. However vs a Premier Inn or Ibis the rooms are dated and tired. Ours also smelled really badly of cigarette smoke, and the shower had a leak that turned the bathroom floor into a puddle. Overall if you're looking for a central location, especially with parking this is fine as a place to sleep (as long as your room doesn't smell of cigarettes).

Stayed here for business trip, great to have a bath in the room. Stand out experience was the breakfast, the food was good and the team led by Abbie could not do enough for everyone. Great service like that is rare and was appreciated thank you.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The Front Office staff were exceptional, providing a warm welcome and being extremely helpful throughout my stay. They assisted me with all my inquiries and made sure I felt comfortable during my visit. The room was fantastic, offering all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job of maintaining the room's cleanliness and ensuring everything was in order. Their attention to detail was evident and greatly appreciated. One of the standout features of the hotel is its prime location. Situated in the heart of Manchester, it offered easy access to various attractions and shopping districts, making it convenient for both leisure and business travelers. While there were many positive aspects, I did encounter a minor drawback during breakfast. The restaurant staff seemed somewhat unfriendly and not as accommodating as the rest of the hotel staff. Additionally, they closed the breakfast buffet a couple of minutes before the scheduled time, which was a bit disappointing. It would have been nicer if they extended their assistance and maintained the buffet until the designated closing time. Despite this small setback, my overall stay at Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel was enjoyable, and I would recommend it to others based on the friendly and helpful Front Office staff, great housekeeping, excellent room quality, and the hotel's superb location. Deep Shah is very helpful and provides excellent customer service.

Hotel rooms are decent and very comfortable beds, great location. Odd set-up for getting to and from rooms to dinning room or out and lifts take ages. The place has history and there are lots of music stars that have stayed there in years past, probably not so much now. Would not recommend breakfast and if you are gluten free there are very limited options. Hot food was cold and tasteless.

The hotel was easily accessible and had nice rooms however our roomā€™s toilet flush did not work so we asked the maintenance to fix it so we spent the day out and came back and it was not fixed. We then called reception and a very kind gentleman who just started his shift called Ademola helped us move to another 2 rooms and were very glad as we were very tired and he sorted it out quickly and efficiently

Becoming a regular overnighter through work and cannot complain! Deep and Josee cannot be more welcoming when you check in, and what more can be said than; ā€œfree ice lolliesā€!! Rooms are clean and simple, food is plentiful and great value and the breakfasts are superb (theyā€™re even HOT, unusual in hotels these days!). For a great value city-centre hotel, you cannot go wrong (the only reason I give it 4 stars for location is its a bit of a walk to work!!)

  • 2/5 Nadia M. 8 months ago on Google
The location is great. I am staying here for 5 nights. I was locked out from my room twice. The second time when I complained, they simply said this is a security feature. No apology. Lifts are super slow so it takes ages to go downstairs to reception. My lunch order was missed today and they only realised when I chased after 35 minutes. I asked for a quick chips as I was really hungry. They didnā€™t even try to make up the missed order and they tried to charge me 4 quid for the chips. When I asked do you really want to charge me for that, they offered 50 percent discount. Just the whole conversation was so ridiculous for such a huge hotel and of course I found much better food in the food market around the park. The staff are great (they helped me with printing some documents as well) but they need a better training and the management needs to perform better in customer service. Defo not coming back.

When we checked in we were warmly welcomed and as it took a while to get checked in the hotel staff gave us all an ice lolly and a drinks voucher for a free drink at the bar. The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable, I had a very good night's sleep as there wasn't any noise from other guests. When we checked out we were able to leave our luggage with the concierge for the day which was a bonus. Great location and really helpful staff would stay here again.

Good clean City View room with great view across Piccadilly Gardens. Relaxing breakfast in Level 3 Restaurant with lots of space. Friendly breakfast staff (Paul) who facilitated the hot buffet breakfast and chatted to make you feel welcome (when youā€™re on a business trip on your own too). All staff gave a warm Manchester welcome to my three night stay. Perfect location for local eateries too.

I really enjoyed my stay. I had two great sleeps, the room was clean and spacious and the staff were all very helpful. I felt that they had the right number of lights in the room. My favourite is the parking which is very convenient when you need to drive & is not always available in major cities! Ademola (night reception), was particularly helpful, friendly and knowledgeable during my 2 nights. Will go back for sure! šŸ™‚

A little dated but clean and comfortable. Access to gym too slow as had to queue at reception with gym gear on as not done at check in. Breakfast queue also rather slow. Breakfast pretty good and decent selection.

The service from the waiter (Raymond) was excellent. He made sure we were happy at all stages of the meal and explained when there was a slight delay. He gave very professional service and was a credit to the hotel.

this was a good one nights stay, location was perfect very central. Breakfast was excellent. The lovely lady on reception made me a wonderful, skinny decaf flat white. My only complaint was the hard pillows, I would have liked a softer one.

The room was spacious and it was clean. Simple amenities in the room but could it was all that was needed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location and not too far walking distance from shops, cafes and restaurants. I would stay again and look forward to another visit here. Highly recommend!!!

As we are the global traveler, so we got the chance to compare different hotel in all aspect. Unfortunately sorry to say that, all of It's manpower need more training on communication, guest service and guest handling. They are young and energetic with super friendly attitude. That's awesome just need proper guidelines and training.

A bit better than last year. Bathrooms much improved, but silly faults remain. (No seal on shower partition leaks water on the floor.) Breakfast good. Staff helpful and approachable. Lifts still inadequate. No room fridge/minibar in hotel that claims to be 4 star?

Cleaning service is horrible--cups wiped out rather than replaced/washed... There was still lipstick and tea on the outside of a cup one day. Sinks/tub not washed out. Tea service not replaced fully/properly. Our training had nearly 50 guests staying here, and to a person there wasn't a good comment on the hotel... From cleanliness yo heating issues. Mold on windows, peeling paint, dirty walls... It's just shabby. I'd not mind that quality had I paid for that quality, but I didn't pay a Travelodge price.

We booked a Privilege Room back in July with the extra option of Early Check-In. It was booked on the flexible rate meaning we didn't have to pay anything until we actually checked in. Fast forward to the day of arrival, we arrived around 12 noon where we were informed that check-in was 2pm (website said 3pm but whatever). We told them that we had booked early check-in, meaning we could arrive from 10am, and gave them our details. We were then told that it was purely subject to availability and, because we hadn't actually paid the early check-in fee (see above where I mentioned the flexible rate) our room wasn't ready. We showed him our booking email and our booking page on the hotel website where neither of them mentioned subject to availability. What is the actual point of offering early check-in if you don't actually follow through with it? We had driven for over an hour to reach the hotel on the belief we could check-in early only to be informed that, despite what our booking said, it was a wasted trip and potentially had a couple of hours to wait. We were upgraded to a suite for the inconvenience and whilst we appreciated this gesture, we quickly found that the suite we were staying in - Royce Suite - was very poor. The condition of the room itself from a maintenance point of view was disgraceful - light not working, loose plug sockets, wooden doorframe seriously chipped, almost as if the door had been kicked in and then not repaired. The reason we didn't report any of these was because it was a free upgrade and felt we had no right too. Totally unsatisfactory service and definitely will not be visiting again. Recommend that people avoid this hotel at all costs

Right by the tram which was great, food, not so great but the staff are amazing! I lost my key and couldn't even remember my room number as it was a group booking, Raj on reception was so kind and help me out, I felt so silly but he made me feel better! Great concierge!

About 45 of us stayed here for a meeting and overnight accommodation. Every single member of staff I encountered were just outstanding. Customer service is absolutely spot on. Nothing was too much trouble. Both lunch and breakfast were excellent- really great quality.

Honestly the location of the hotel is amazing and due to it's highly connective nature it is a great place for any form of meet ups one might have. The staff is extremely helpful and honestly every single person at the hotel is so kind. Special thanks to Yuvraj for his great service and hospitality. What a great member of the staff. The way he welcomed my friend and i was amazing. Thank you. Loved the hospitality.

Soon as I walked in this hotel we were greeted by 2 professional ladies in the reception. That for me is the most professional thing ever . Been Manchester for years in hotels and 1st time here and won't be the last. Had my personal licence for 15 years in pubs and clubs and them 2 ladies are definitely management material. Absolutely šŸ’Æ perfection. Thank you ladies .

Very small bed in a privilege room .. one lift out of action so no way of getting out of the building safely in my opinion, ended up using the fire escape that was blocked on a few levels with buckets to catch leaks and laundry bins .. the lifts were up and down all morning full of people so no room to use .. great location but in need of better management and investment. Wonā€™t be staying again as just didnā€™t feel safe .

Was able to check in a little early and then helped out with some room key issues by Natalie, the very professional staff member on reception. Good room and a great bar/ restaurant / work area on the 3rd floor. Looks much better on the inside than the outside and a good place for working. Bathroom was the only issue. Could have been much cleaner.

Great place for the Christmas markets. We decided to book for the 3rd year running to visit the Christmas markets for our anniversary. On arrival we had a problem with our room, it was dealt with quickly and Raj at the help desk made sure we were well looked after and really made the effort to ensure we enjoyed our stay.

Went for Afternoon Tea. Superb views of Piccadilly Gardens and the surrounding area. Very friendly staff. Food was great. Tea's and Coffee's were good too. We were served coronation chicken, ham and wholegrain mustard, cheese and pickle & egg mayo sandwiches. With scones jam and clotted cream and some very nice cakes to finish off.

Highly recommended. Staff are lovely, rooms are clean. Disinfected from head to toe. Had a peak at their reception hall for functions and its just magnificent. Local to food, activities and trains. Definitely visit Media City.

Visited with my elderly Dad for a couple of days. Never stayed at the Piccadilly before. Hotel a little tired if I'm honest and probably three stars including heating in the room that doesn't seem to work properly. Upgraded my review to four stars based on Ibby on Reception and Lourna (I think) in the bar, both of whom were very welcoming.

Sounds like a great hotel. Appearance and welcoming is fine... Firstly there were no hand gels in the dispenser by the lift... The room I been to visit my friend got not fridge no room phone... Room number was 701... But the lady in the reception was outstanding...smily and helpful..

Absolutely immaculate hotel, wonderful staff and plentiful buffet breakfast. Central location with amazing views over the city from rooms, bar & restaurant. Didnt get chance to use the gym but will definitely stay here again!

The rooms are cold. Heating blows out cold air not warm. Was moved rooms but same happened and no bedside tables. The water is just warm. Not hot enough for nice bath. However breakfast was very good and restaurant was warm! The music is reception is so loud can't hear yourself.

  • 5/5 Luke C. 2 years ago on Google
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable, clean and have good views over the city. The hotel is well located. Probably the only negative was the internet wasn't fantastic, which is a shame. I don't know if our room was just too far from the router but there were definitely connectivity issues. All up though, I can recommend this hotel for your stay in Manchester.

Stayed for 3 nights for pride weekend. Good points good location, sheets on the bed were clean and the staff were nice. Bad points the cleanliness of the bathroom was not great mould in the grout of the tiles in the shower the floor looked dirty like I need shoes to walk on it worst part was the toilet seat which was suppose to be white but was stained yellow ordered extra loo roll to to cover the seat to sit on it the whole bathroom looked like it needed a good refurbishment. The furniture in the room was battered and old and there were holes in the curtains. We added breakfast for one day and I wish I hadnā€™t bothered the food was stone cold even though breakfast was served from 8am and we when for breakfast at 8:20am. Overall not a great experience and will not be staying again.

So, it canā€™t get five stars because there was an incident where they accidentally double booked our room leading to a random couple walking in on me completely naked - not a great start. However they did their best to make up for this mistake and Yasmin at the restaurant deserves particular praise as she was fantastic. The rooms are on the small side but clean and well kept. Staff are friendly and helpful. Location is also fantastic but the rooms are really quiet at night thanks to the sound proofing over the windows. The fact that Iā€™d come back here despite the incident described above shows how much we still enjoyed our stay here.

Desperately in need of refurbishing, which I think was planned but got pushed back by anti-covid measures. There's damp smell in most carpets, it's hard to sleep on upper floors because of mysterious banging sounds from the pipes or something loose somewhere/some other system. Far too few lifts, which are all painfully slow and a bit scary. Breakfast is OK, good spread, but they really need to just *put vegan options out* for events, not make people request them. It's 2022! (Vegan Shack round the corner is great though). The bars always run out of drinks when we have a conference here. They might learn one day! Also didn't even offer to refund us when we had to cancel a kitchen order. All that said, we have affection for the place, the main conference room is a 90s delight. It could just do with some TLC as a building.

Average hotel in a great location, fairly standard for the price - room clean, bed very springy and soft, comfortable. If you have a room near the double fire doors that separate corridors from each other, prepare yourself for them to creak and slam shut as other guests go through them, in our case this was a regular occurrence from 8am onwards. That's the only bug bear, everything else was as expected for the star rating and price. We were even given a voucher for 2 free drinks in the bar, which was great.

  • 3/5 Jodie 1 year ago on Google
Friendly and professional staff. Good parking. Rooms need a little TLC, the baths in both rooms we booked were damaged/stained they need replacing. I could still have a shower (even though I wanted a bath). Bed was clean and comfy. Rooms were clean, but few areas had been missed, checks are needed. Breakfast was great, fresh and tasty, plenty of choice. Good hotel stay but could be better, these issues need rectifying for the star rating and price.

  • 3/5 Evan J. 1 year ago on Google
Location is super handy and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good quality. Event and bar spaces were a good standard. This would otherwise warrant a 4/5 rating. I'd have given the rooms a pass but for the price. For what I paid I would not have expected burnt out light bulbs, exposed and dusty loft hatch, crumbling door frame or moldy humid windows. All that said, the pros just outweigh the cons.

This was our second visit after not such a good experience. check-in was easy great staff on the front desk but the room had issues with it. Disabled but sink to close to toilet for a person using a chair or scooter. Also the room had no coffee or water in it and only one towel. the staff in the restraint were fantastic and especially the chef at the front of house who was always smiling and happy to help and so very helpful. the staff assisted my wife when I was not there with no issues pleased to help. the bar staff were also very helpful. The staff here are superb. the fabric of the hotel needs to be sorted its letting the whole experience down.

Comfy bed but not much else. Non existent sound proofing, the the extend someoneā€™s phone alarm went off and it woke it us up. The lifts are crazy they seem to follow no logic of up or down and are always full. Not a bad hotel by any means all the staff we came across were great and helpful. Great location & fairly priced.

Beautiful hotel. Great location. Very clean. Staff were very warm and welcoming, even providing extra nespresso pods, bringing them to the room in the early hours. We were offered a great price for an upgrade to a suite, making the experience even more special with amazing panoramic views of Manchester. Both the suite and bedroom were very spacious and comfortable. Amenities were great with on-site parking, bar, and restaurant. (However, the restaurant was extremely disappointing with a basic menu and a very poorly stocked bar. I ordered 3 different drinks from the menu, and all were out out of stock). The hotel also offers function rooms and conference rooms. There is also a sheltered smoking area situated on level 1, ensuring you are away from the bustling crowds.

Had a great stay here and the staff were amazing. Special shout out to BECKY at the reception/entrance. Super helpful and kind and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable as I had come a bit too early for check in. The kitchen/restaurant staff were so pleasant too. Finally the rooms were super comfy and nice. I really enjoyed being in Manchester because of this great hotel.

Ellie at the front desk was delightful and incredibly helpful. She made our stay just that bit more pleasant. The room was clean, quiet and suitable - the double bed however was two singles put together...with one of the beds being significantly lower than the other...making for a very odd sleep with my partner!

Feels like this hotel is in need of a refurb. Bathrooms showing signs of wear. Several items in the gym donā€™t work. Room wasnā€™t serviced on the Sunday, mine was not the only one. There was an event on one day and people queued up for lifts on many floors. The lifts struggled generally. Good lounge and bar on L3.

Iā€™d just like to say how professional, friendly and efficient the guest relations manager, Deep Shah, was. He helped me and my husband to sort out the parking, as we are complete technophobes! He was so kind, a wonderful man.

Staff were pleasant, tried hard to help. In particular the event team worked hard to please. Had a two day event with private dinner overlooking Manchester. Hotel is tired in places, refurb needed. Great location for train 10 min walk, car parking restricted as with all large hotels in area. Plenty of public parking.

This hotel was chosen because of its convenient location for work. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They cannot be faulted for this. The hotelitself is in dire need of renovation. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the shower in my room. This problem was not resolved until the following day. Which was VERY inconvenient. The hotel has offered me a discount on my stay, which was good. I would like to thank Abbie for her amazing service at breakfast and lunch.

Upside: Incredibly clean bedrooms in a very central location. Downside: Couldn't manage to get any hot water for either a bath or shower during my stay and the breakfast table I used had crumbs underneath my previously laid napkin. Bit gross.

Sue was AMAZING, checking on us regularly and making sure we had whatever we needed - if there was something we needed sheā€™d have it within minutes, sheā€™s a wonderful person. We stayed in March and the rooms were fine, but now itā€™s been renovated itā€™s brilliant! Sue we love you!

Good quality centrally located hotel. Handy for Northern Quarter and Gay Village. Tram stop in nearby Piccadilly Gardens makes the whole area within easy reach. Room (628) well equipped with fridge, Nespreso machine. Good comfortable bed. Good welcoming and friendly staff.

I stayed in room 616, from Friday 14 July- Sunday 16July 2023. I found the double room very well appointed with everything that I needed, including several lamps, a desk,2 mirrors, including full length, full size bath and double bed. The bed was a little high for me as I am partially disabled. There were nice little touches, such as a tea tray with kettle, and an iron. The room was very close to the lifts, which I used to go down to the restaurant on the 3rd floor. As I was part of a coach party, we had inclusive breakfast and dinner, which was served buffet style. At Dinner, there was either a live singer or piped music, which personally, I found a little too loud, making conversation a bit challenging. The hotel is right next door to a convenience store, which was very helpful for those of us, like myself, who couldn't walk or stand for long. The only reason why I am not giving 5 stars ,is because of an issue regarding the time of the coach party's departure on the Sunday. Despite trying to explain to the hotel operator 3 times ,what the issue was, I was forced to physically come down to reception, which should not have happened. Obviously an issue of inadequate staff training, which I have flagged up to restuarant duty manager Neil. Having said this, most of the staff,I encountered were friendly, professional and willing to "go beyond" to ensure a pleasant stay. In particular, Edwina.šŸ˜Š
