I don't usually leave reviews twice for the same restaurant, as I hardly change my opinion, however this restaurant deserves another and detailed review. I who lived in Sicily assure you that you will not find anything in Manchester that is so faithful to Sicilian cuisine. Sicilian NQ, includes friendly and professional staff, able to suggest dishes in line with your tastes, the perfect location, the welcoming restaurant and finally the food. the authenticity of Sicilian flavors, from arancine to pasta to simply sublime desserts. This is the essence of Sicilian NQ; if you've never been to Sicily, this restaurant will transport your taste buds to Italian culture, and if you have, a tear of nostalgia will revitalise your soul! So, what do you have to lose? book and give it a shot. I can tell you that it will not let you down.

Nice food spoilt by bad service and organisation. Would I return, yes but only for the arancini and coffee ☕ at lunchtime. We arrived for our booking on time and were met with a queue, it transpires that the 3 other groups in front were also booked for the same time and the people now queuing behind too. The server didn't explain or take anyone's name and then they left us standing in the doorway not even capitalising on taking our drink orders. Once seated 45mins after booking time we ordered our food and drinks.... Out starters arrived, we ate them and they were delicious, the closest we've come to authentic since touring sicily..... The main meal arrives (with no cutlery) and still no drinks, we ask for water which arrived within a 1 min, 5 mins later we received one wine but our other alcoholic drink never arrived... During all this there was not one apology or any urgency. They never came over to ask if the food and every else was OK and I understand it was busy but its only small and they had 3 staff out front. When we asked for the bill it came with the missing drink added to the bill, we had to get them to rectify it and pay and again they never apologised or seemed disappointed. The place is small but has a number of tables and a bar area to sit, eat drink, it's obviously a popular place that gets busy at peak times so bear that in mind.

Amazing food! It was authentic and a bit different and I can't fault it. There was also a nice atmosphere and wines. The only reason this is not higher is because although I pre-booked a table for 2, we got told on arrival that we either had to share a table with another party or eat at the bar. After a frustrating discussion with staff and the manager we got moved to a private table when one became available. The manager mentioned something about fine print on booking, but I booked over the phone and it was never mentioned.

Brief: Take the gun, leave the Cannoli The Good: Unique pasta menu and them deserts and nice vibe to the place The Bad: Made a big hole in my pocket Must try: Cannoli! Summary: A Sunday evening dinner with a friend. Made my reservations earlier and I reached the restaurant was seated promptly. I requested a virgin mojito and they were happy to make me one even though it wasn’t on the menu. We ordered our starters and mains. I got the ravioli with pistachios and goat cheese which was amazing and my friend got the ravioli with swordfish on a tomato base. He enjoyed it. The starter mushroom dish was interesting. But the icing on the cake was the cannoli which was amazing. All in all was a good dinner but on the expensive side. Price: £££ (35£ for two courses, drink and a desert) Visited: 21/11/2021 Time: 19:00

Christmas day review: Food - really nice and tasty Service - The staff forgot to give us the Christmas presents which made us feel left out. After i wrote this comment that i am currently editing the owner as seen from the comments sent me an email the next morning saying that it was a mistake, saying that she’s sorry and sent someone to deliver us the presents to our home. That was very thoughtful and kind from the owner to do and i appreciate it a lot! Therefore changed my rating to a 5😁😁

I booked the table from Google and was first put on one of the most uncomfortable corner seats. There was no legroom. The waiter was nice to move me several times to put me on a table eventually when it became available. The music was loud and pop, non-atmospheric music. My seat was next to the toilet and I could smell it. Food-wise, I got focaccia, which didn’t taste anything like it. Arancino which was a little bland and tasteless. Gnocchi Vongole was a plate of tasteless starch with a few clam shells and tiny clam scraps. I had to use the remaining pesto on my partner’s plate for flavour to finish my plate of gnocchii. 😂 The treveli pistachios was ok but definitely wasn't worth £7. Maybe £5 You know the taste of the food isn't up to standard when most tables leave more than half the plates when leaving. I’m confident to say I’m not returning anytime soon. I hope they will improve soon. Overall I was disappointed with the visit.

If I could give 0 stars I would. When we arrived the staff seemed completely unaware of our booking and placed us in the bar area. I assumed this was a holding area to have a drink whilst we waited for our table. This was our table. A tall uncomfortable bar stool, stuffed into a corner, hunched over a thin shelf that would have been better suited to displaying your art prints, cactuses and perhaps a picture of a deceased pet. All the waitresses and waiters seemed completely overwhelmed and one (who I won’t single out) complained verbally about another member of staff whilst serving us. Drink orders were slow and I felt deeply uncomfortable shoved in a corner as a 6’1 guy. This was booked as an anniversary meal and felt substandard in every way. We had one sip of wine before walking out but staff seemed uninterested when I said (after asking twice if there was any chance of us moving) that we wanted to move on and try our luck somewhere else. Can’t comment on the food because we didn’t eat. But the impression we got was quite rude service and clearly taking on far more bookings than they can comfortably accommodate. Perhaps this should be looked at in order to avoid more 1 star reviews. Even on a busy night this was very disappointing. Don’t recommend.

Had a really lovely lunch here! Perfect atmosphere of being central but away from the crowds as its on a quite street. Lovely atmosphere with great service. There's a good choice of vegetarian and vegan options. The food was amazing and will defo be my go to place for the style of food in Manchester! Price was reasonable for portion size and quality in my opinion. The pistachio dessert and coffee was top tier also. Looking forward to going again :)

Finally, we have a truly Sicilian restaurant with its spirit in the Manchester city centre. The owners are doing a great job keeping the cuisine alive abroad which doesn’t come as cheap as in Sicily. This is a high quality restaurant could convince you to visit Sicily and south of Italy if you haven’t been. For recommendations, ask the staff, they know the best. Booking a table in advance is always a better idea!

We dined at this venue on our first day in Manchester. The ambience is very nice, the service was attentive and courteous right from the start. We started well with a Sunshine board and continued with some absolutely excellent dishes. I tried the parmigiana and Mr Mount Etna.

Very good quality food, clean and cosy place, very friendly staff. We enjoyed many of their dishes. The pasta with ricotta cheese Sicilian style was exceptional, but so were the rest of the other delicacies we had the pleasure of tasting. Highly recommended! Absolutely not to be missed.

Cosy. Friendly. Delicious. I've never been to Sicily, however judging by the atmosphere and food created in this gem of a restaurant I feel I must visit one day. This Restaurant transported me to the Mediterranean. Fantastic arancini. The Ragu unexpectedly had a pastry centre with delicious flavours. A good selection of both food and drink at reasonable prices. Oh, and the cannoli 😁Thank you

Food was very nice but expensive. We had two soft drinks, pineapple and cranberry, both £4 each!! Ridiculous prices! I wasn't very hungry on the day so I asked if I could have a smaller portion of a main dish, but the waiter was very cheeky and would not give a reduced price! I had the pistachio tagliatelle with pork. It was tasty but very rich and not much pistachio taste more of a garnish. Also tried the spicy vegan girasole, very delicious. Got the trio of cannoli's for dessert. They were tiny for the £6 we paid and not much flavour from the lemon and pistachio. The place is very small and dark inside and all the seats are stools so not very comfy. I would say the food is traditionally Sicilian. If you want to try make sure to book but be prepared to pay a hefty price!

We were looking for something different to try in Manchester so went with Sicilian NQ for our first night and I am so glad we did. I have never tried Sicilian food before but now I can’t wait to eat it again, everything I ordered was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. The staff are lovely and extremely helpful, it was a great night all round, I’ll be sure to be back next time I’m in Manchester!

Enjoyed a fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth, eponymous ‘Sicilian NQ’ French toast for dessert-brunch here one peaceful Saturday morning ago, replete with pistachio, chocolate, pasticciera (custard) sauce, and maple syrup. Even those who don’t have much of a sweet tooth won’t find it gratingly sugary. Almost all the seating is bar stools, so it may be a problem if you’re bringing a baby in a stroller or need disability access. Pleasantly picturesque vineyard-themed decor otherwise.

A disappointing experience last night Let’s start with the positives The Food itself would have been 3.5 / 5 - not exceptional, but not bad ! And now for the negatives The service was slow with us waiting for our sides which didn’t come until we’d finished the mains. Perhaps ok if extremely busy, but when you see one member of staff standing around doing nothing it’s infuriating. The value wasn’t the greatest, especially for mine which was half the size of the others but only £2 cheaper Wouldn’t rush to return TBH - which is a shame as it I went because I’m planning a trip to Sicily next year

My wife has been wanting to try here for a while, so surprised her for our anniversary. Brilliant hearty food, staff were very welcoming, and gave us a complimentary Lemonciello to help us celebrate. Arancini was delicious and came in a lovely tomato sauce. Will defo be dining again.

Best arancini I’ve had and I’ve been to Sicily. Great cocktail and wine options. Very busy on a Friday night so you have to book but good atmosphere

There were some good and bad points to our experience hence 3/5 stars. Good Points - The cocktail I had was delicious and the bartender was incredibly friendly - The pasta dishes my husband and I had were very tasty - The pistachio cannoli my husband had was delicious -Food and drinks arrived in a good time (not too long/not too short) Bad Points - Booked a table in advance and we were sat the end of the bar where the cutlery and dirty dishes were put, I understand the restaurant is small but where we were sat shouldn't really have been classed as a 'table', we just felt like we were in the way and it was generally uncomfortable (not because of the chair just where we were positioned in the restaurant). We probably could have said something about this at the time but the restaurant was full so I don't really think much could have been done. - The starters/desserts are reasonably priced but our pasta (no meat) mains were pretty expensive, both were £17 and albeit were tasty but still a bit pricey. - I ordered pistachio cake for dessert, which arrived partially frozen, I did send it back with no trouble and had some gelato instead which was nice. However, the cake was still on our bill and I had to ask for it to be removed. - Front of house staff I think does needs approving, the bartender was very friendly. However, the 2 members of staff mainly running the food/drinks and taking orders could maybe do with being slightly more welcoming, the restaurant was busy though so maybe it's just because of that. I didn't feel the most welcome in all honesty and where we were sat I did feel in the way. -The Arancino we had were quite nice, bit bland though and did taste like they had just been warmed up, the outside wasn't particularly crispy and the rice inside was just warm. All in all, I probably wouldn't go back, however the entire experience wasn't so bad, the pasta and desserts were really nice.

So this restaurant has some great element and some not so great elements, which makes for an interesting review. I called up ahead of time to say we were running 10 minutes late and the person I spoke to was fairly rude and hung up on me half way through our conversation. Either way, the starter of pistachio arancini was fantastic, delicate and a great sharer. The main of tagliatelle with braised beef ragu was just okay and not huge - also hardly any meat in the ragu, fairly disappointing for £18. For desert, the tiramisu was great and the pistachio ice cream was to die for. We were seated at the bar which was ridiculously cramped, sat shoulder to shoulder with the couple next to us. If you think Wagamama's is intimate you want to try eating here. The cocktails are great, the gin and tonic was pretty good and the long island was the best I've had for a while. In terms of atmosphere, the restaurant is cosy and has a nice ambience. The music pretty much ruined this as they played the most random assortment of tunes I've ever heard. Once Party Rock Anthem played for the second time in 30 minutes, I took that as our cue to leave. All in all, a memorable evening out.

The pistachio set menu (3 courses for £25) was great value, I hope they do more set menus with different themes in future! We were sat at the bar, which was very narrow and cramped unfortunately. Service was good, lady behind the bar was really attentive.

Really lovely chilled environment and delicious food. The mushroom arancino was my favourite. Also pictured focaccia, olives, ragu pasta, mushroom pasta and pistachio pane with nougat ice cream

The food was a mixed experience, my girlfriend enjoyed her Spicy Vegan Girasoli but my puttanesca dish was a little on the bland side. Perhaps the excitement and anticipation we had going in had led to some disappointment in the end, especially given that the prices are far from cheap. Nevertheless, the dishes used seemed to use fresh ingredients which was nice. The wine choices were good too, but the cramped atmosphere and slow service made it a more uncomfortable experience. The restaurant is incredibly tiny, and although this makes for a cosy atmosphere, it made less sense when we ended up waiting a long time for the bill (after asking for it three times). Alongside this, parts of what we ordered were missing and took a long time to arrive in the end. The staff were attentive to this and did come over eventually to check if we had everything, but it was a bit too late at this point. Given that the restaurant was quite small and not too busy when we went, we were confused as to why it took so long to be served at times.

We went for dinner on Saturday with friends very busy. Food was very good, staff friendly and helpful. Excellent Truffle Portobello pasta with wine. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. Highly recommended

I've been wanting to go here for ages and I was definitely not disappointed. If you love a deep fried cheesy ball of rice, you need to go try these bloody amazing Arancini at @sicilianfoodnq . We had a Mr Mount Etna and Arancino Spinach to start followed by Nonna's Meatballs, Tagliatelle Ragu and Gnocchi Alla Siciliana. Oh and I also had the most delicious Tiramisu but that wasn't round long enough for a photo 🤣 Traditional Sicilian food 🇮🇹 Bellissimo!🤌 (Not the best photos I've ever taken but you get the gist 🤣)

Had a fantastic meal on Saturday night at Sicilian. We tried the Arancini balls to start and they were amazing. Great selection of flavours. We had the beef and pork Mount Etna and the prawn and courgette. I lasagna and the pistachio pasta were also really good. The atmosphere is really nice and busy and the service was excellent. My favourite Italian in town now.

Lovely food in a charming little restaurant, cheers to the chef for the bruschetta which is divine and tastes like granny cooking at a farmhouse, honest sized portions that fill you up and leave you light for another glass of wine or aperol, I will definitely be back soon and this time with more friends

Excellent welcome by friendly owner, as well as dedicated service by the staff. We have been during the week and it was Intimate and relaxed atmosphere, tasty food and good wine. We had the Nero Diavola. An experience I’ll repeat as soon as possible.

cosy little place tucked in on Turner street in the northern quarter and we certainly tucked in . ample portion of lasagne for lunch , my dining companion had the same and managed dessert whilst I had coffee. our lovely friendly hostess Anna was very pleasant and nothing was to much trouble . compliments to the chef who I think is also the owner go without saying of course. Veni ca manciari saluti !

We came here as a group of 4 as a walk in they were very accommodating and said we could dine even though they were very busy and would need the table back quicker than normal. The food was very tasty and the desserts here are amazing. I had the pizza fritta and the presentation was envy of the table. The staff were very personable and attentive.

  • 5/5 Alex 11 months ago on Google
Arancino was so yummy and very similar to what we have tried when visiting sicilly. The lasagne and tagliatelle with truffle and portobello mushrooms were also very tasty. We got the dessert sharing board which was more than enough for two. The pistachio cake and tiramisu in particular were very nice. The atmosphere and decor are nice too.
