Chorlton Water Park is a hidden gem. If you love nature, it's overflowing with it 🙂 If you like fish, it's well stocked. If you like walking or running, you can do circuits around the lake. It has two islands, but I'm not sure if you can still canoe to them. Lots of people enjoy canoeing on this lke. If you like photograph this is a great place for taking water related photographs. Parking is really easy and it's rarely busy. A free day out for families with children.

It seems like a great place if the weather is okay. Car park free to use. Paths are definitely in need of improvement, very rutted and muddy, you will need boots to walk anywhere near the river. You can easily find alternative walks through the trees, along the river and round the lake. We did a fairly straightforward 3 miles up to the Boat Pub and back to the car park .

Wonderful place to walk around the pond or along the river Mersey and suitable for pushchairs along the pond and parts of the river. Great for bikes and a playground for kids. Great place for the family to walk and explore or just have a picnic. Bathrooms seem to be open at the car park which seems to be adequate most times.

Shame on me... shame on me 😔 lived in Manchester 17 years and I live 7 minutes away from this glorious relaxing haven of tranquility, what can I say 🤷‍♂️ it was sooo nice and chilled, children playing, geese paddling, birds tweeting, I loved it, the lake looks rather large, however we found ourselves at the starting point what seemed like literally minutes, bought an ice-cream and sat on one of the many benches overlooking the lake, which was full of various wildlife, there is a coffee vendor there also, with free parking, think I'll find myself there a lot over the coming years.. definitely releases tension of the day to day grind.. a real positive on your mental health 😊 and also got me out of watching back to back coronation Street! Highly recommend

Beautiful park with a large lake in the middle. It's free and you can walk from Chorlton Water Park along to Sale Water Park via a pretty river walk. Chorlton Water Park itself has picnic benches, a children's swing park and lots of Canada geese. It's my favourite park in Manchester.

Gorgeous place, very peaceful. I went in july 2019 and I had a lovely time. If you love walking (with your dog) or just chill near the water, this is for you. It's a very calming and quiet place. There are picnic areas and lots of open space with geese hanging around the lake :) I'd defo recommend it. I visited again in June 2023, and there are free toilets (closed by 3.30pm, which is a shame!!) & free parking.

Usually walk around Sale water park but for the first time we visited this water park today, quieter and really well kept...only downside was the sunbathers clogging up the vantage points. But otherwise lovely.

We visited here in the summer. A beautiful park to enjoy a relaxed walk and have a picnic. Lovely play area for the children and great sunset views. Quite a busy local park when the weather is good. A nice ice cream van for the kids too.

This is my first visit to Chorlton Water Park, thus didnt know what to expect. What a lovely place it is and quite surprise it had a lot of nature and wildlife within, possible camera shoot for budding photographers. Chorlton Water Park would attract a variety of people from walkers, families, dog owners and so on..there is room for everyone and interest wanting a good greenery area to get some air. Close to the River Mersey. Facilties are good, a car park, toilets that close mid afternoon (9am to 3.30pm), outside business that provide treats and hot beverages. Fun could be had by all

Excellent place to come for a walk with the kids. Nice easy loop around the water with plenty of ducks & geese to see and feed. If you start anti clockwise the walk finishes up at a very good play ground for the kids and usually an ice cream van for a treat. Lots of wild life to spot, and plenty of greenery. The main loop itself is very short, but can easily be extended by branching off with longer walks to Sale Water or further afield along the River Mersey.

Nice easy walk around the lake (takes about 20mins) which can be made longer by by going off around the forest and following the river. Went in March so was all a bit brown but can imagine it’s lovely in Summer.

A small play ground with kids playing area. Lake side multiple walking trails. Linked with Merseyside walking trails. Birds trees, flowers, you can smell / feel the nature. Car parking available, may be full on weekends. Fishing allowed for permit holders only for designated time. A lot of sitting places available. Barbeque not allowed. You can enjoy pre cooked food. Very neat and clean environment. No boating and swimming allowed.

Great for a casual stroll. Cyclists and runners were there. Lots of dog walkers. Suitable for prams. Fab park for the kids. Ice cream van, coffee van and even Tibetian kitchen! Lots of benches and picnic benches to sit at on the way round. Little walkways to take different routes. Make sure you take some snacks for the ducks too!! Toilets available, not great, but definitely not the worse we've been in. Car park wasn't full either and we went when it was quite busy. The parking is also free!

It's a really nice place. A place where you can have a picnic, swim and/ or fish. It's suitable for both families and groups of young friends. I strongly suggest to anyone to visit this place

Pleasant walk. Surprising in an urban area. Enjoyable green area. Very muddy at the moment and fairly busy. Good new play area. Toilets currently open (reasonable) with a coffee van and ice cream van. Large ish car park but partially flooded. We parked on the road.

Amazing Reservoir to walk around, a large fun play area for the children and always an ice cream van. Very little parking available if you are to visit but there are so many pathways and routes to take, lots of dog walkers and nice people around, even some good sights of nature to look out for too!

This is a lovely water park, with a couple of trails around a lake. It's smaller than Sale Water Park, but I really like it. It has free parking and some benches to sit along the lake at a couple of areas. There's a little kid play area, too. There's also a coffee cart if you want a drink or a snack.

A really nice place to enjoy a sunny day. The lake is very big and has lovely ducks and swans, there are lots of areas for fishing and can also be good for picnics. I didn't walk much but it's obviously a very nice long walk. There's also a play area for kids which is always a bonus!

Nice big lake to walk around that’s absolutely full of ducks, geese, swans, moor hens etc. It’s also a stones throw from the river. It can be very crowded, and on warm days has hundreds of BBQs, but overall very nice.

I haven't been in years and really looked forward to going on my own for the first time on my mobility scooter. However, I was unable to get past the car park because the gate was locked, and no one in the office. There is a barrier to stop dirt bikes. Which I agree with, but it prevents anyone in a wheelchair, or a scooter, from being able to enter! I thought there are laws against discrimination!

Very nice place for a walk with some very good guided routs it's very popular with dog walkers and anglers. Only negatives for me is it could do with a cafe and the visitors centre is always closed. Also it's near to a rough housing estate and the cars regularly get broken in to

Chorlton park is a visual beauty at any time of the year, today it was cold, Misty and freezing. The lake was frozen, crate g a stunning view n platform for the swans to play on . Everybody kept to the one way walking system, and we finished off with a ice-cream. puurrfffect

Great place to go for a walk, you can make it a quick walk around the pond or spend a couple of hours walking along the Mersey river. It has a children's play area and frequently has I've cream vans present. There are toilets on site but I'm not sure if they're open at the moment due to covid.

  • 5/5 Julie E. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful quiet place to walk round. There's a children's play area and an ice cream van. You can also walk over to the River Mersey another beautiful walk. There is also fishing there and beautiful swans and different species of ducks. There are also toilets and parking. A wonderful day out for the children but take a picnic and drinks if spending a while there as no café.

THis is a beautiful Nature`s spot in the Manchester, to which you will come back on and on as I do. Around the lake is walk trail and you might feel like in the middle of the woodland when you walk, because this is surrounded by trees. The lake has plenty of the footbridges, so you can come and admire the birds- canadian gees, seagulls and ducks. Those place are often use by anglers too. There is plenty of the birds in this place. If you have a kids you can come there and find the nice playground area. You can buy the coffee, ice cream and food from the mobile food kitchens. There is public toilet. You can make a picnic as well.

Tucked away between Chorlton and Sale, the lake is a lovely little walk. There are plenty of birds and wildlife to see and the paths are well maintained. Good car parking and toilets and a play area for little children. You won't feel secluded here though, it's very popular and gets extremely busy in all seasons.

  • 4/5 Anthony P. 3 years ago on Google
Nice for a short stroll or you can keep lapping the lake. You can also cut through to the meadows so lots of exploring available and plenty of wildlife around. There's also a little playground for the kids and fishing areas.
