Very dirty and overpriced for what you get. If the place was clean and without rusty gym equipment then the price might be acceptable. If the gym and changing rooms are this dirty then I hate to think of how dirty the swimming pools are. (Check Pictures). Also why charge extra money for the hairdryer? Every other gym offers this for free. Even if I wanted to pay for the hairdryer I can not see how much to pay as the metal price tag has rusted away. Claims that athlete's train here. Shocking if they really do.

Website and app have obviously been designed to keep people out. Neither match up, for instance the Aquatics center was offering sessions on the app when website says the pool is closed. It's virtually impossible to book swimming for the kids unless you call the help center register for a call back and get the very nice lady (Caroline) to book it for you but that takes 45 mins. Who ever is in charge of websites app and phone system should be ashamed, why do you have the complicated voice mail system in place ? If you were a business without public money to prop you up you'd be bankrupt. Staff on the ground are usually lovely but they can not get past the shoddy systems in place, management should be ashamed of them selves.

First time swimming here despite being to Manchester numerous times. Was pleasantly surprised at the nice and clean lockers, shower facilities and pool too. Only 1 thing is it’s quite expensive for me for 1hr of swim with the use of the locker (£1) compared to pools back home for me. Guess it will be cheaper if I get season pass, but it’s not worth it for me as I’m a tourist here unless I can swim a few times to break even.

Great facilities, large 50 meter pool. For adults looking to swim, choose the “Swim for Fitness” option in the Better app. Lanes are organized into slow, medium and fast so you choose which one best reflects your pace. Showers with doors that close are available but bring your own soap. Changing rooms are co-ed and lockers take a £1 coin, or you can bring your own lock.

Thanks for keeping the website up to date. We traveled there with kids to be told the timetables are incorrect. As for no kids because of the changing facilities. How then is the swimming club still swimming?

Only 3 stars because the changing area is awful. The engineer who designed it should be removed from the profession! There are only !!! 3 !!! cubicles with showers. Furthermore, the lockers are in a gender-mixed area. How am I supposed to go from the shower to the locker naked? There's no way; I can only go while wearing my swimsuit again! But then, what was the point of taking a shower before this? There are well-known established design solutions for changing areas in swimming pools. Why should somebody reinvent the wheel?

Great facilties since the refurbishment and at a fair price too. The only things I have noticed that could make it better is: More seating in health suite (Once chairs are full I have to use jacuzzi stairs) Sand timer in sauna Potential boxing bag if possible More bicep curl bars for cable machines (there's currently only 1)

I had the very unpleasant experience in the pool last summer of a male swimmer coming up from underneath me when I was doing laps. His head contacted my groin area and he grinned but denied that it was deliberate when I shouted at him. There was nothing the staff could have done as none of them saw this and he was obviously going to deny it but when the pool re-opens it would be good to ask staff to look out for such behaviour. Thanks

Great facilities, and a wonderful pool. I visited for a lane swimming session, not all swimmers were following etiquette, in the wrong lane and swimming into people. The gentleman on the customer service helpline was very friendly and helpful too.

It's good to be able to book a place and actually get to swim without people getting in your way, as they have room to cater for people who swim for exercise, swim for leisure, or for families. What would be a great benefit (as with all of the communal changing rooms) would be a couple of hooks on the wall. They would be very cheap to install and a great help because theses rooms are always very small and very humid. The one way system could be mostly left in place too, as it provides somewhere dry to get undressed without unnecessarily wetting your shoes and socks. And this costs nothing.

Super staff clean facilities. Good to have some change for the hair dryers. Clean modern and well maintained great location and under £5 for an hour swim. Pre-booking is advised as it gets rather busy.

Recently reopened after extensive refurbishment, this is an excellent swimming and diving facility that caters to both public users and major competitions like the World Paraswimming Championships.

Great place to take the kids for half term but probably wouldn't go there to regular but that's just because it is a bit out of the way for us. Really enjoyed the facilities and very easy to book online.

Lovely to see it restored to its former glory with the recent refurbishment. Don't forget to bring a £1 coin for the lockers. I arrived with cash but not £1 coin and despite the lockers needing cash, the cafe, shop and reception desk is cashless so there are no facilities for you to obtain change. It would be good if they could invest in a few cashless lockers, since that seems to be the direction of travel for the rest of society.

Brilliant space with facilities to dry swimming costume but a depth either 1m deep or 2m deep. therefore great if your a kid or professional. But not so great if your a casual swimmer.

My adult daughter, who has Down's syndrome, has been coming here for some years and has missed it during lockdown closure. The new system, which requires online booking, was problematic in setting up. Ash, who works for them (and used to be a lifeguard who kindly looked out for my daughter) was extremely helpful in both email and telephone in resolving the issue for us. We couldn't have done it without him, so many thanks, Ash.

This review is about the gym. It has most of the equipment but cleanliness is below standard. Be ready to have your own towel or even wet wipes. Most of the time they don’t have any paper to clean the machines and equipment so there’s sweat everywhere. Made a complaint to better as well but didn’t get any response.

Great venue, well organised, kind and friendly staff, did not give 5 stars because of the lockers, only few available by pool side, the locks in most did not work. You can lose a few coins before you find a lock that works

Great swimming facilities, with plenty of lanes available at different abilities. Huge changing room with lots of locker spaces. Lots of room in the pool due to its Olympic size, although it's only 23m a length when the partition boom is in place (feels a little odd if you are used to a 25m pool) Only downsides were the horrific smell of the gents toilets, the smell of stale urine was nauseating, and there are only 8 shower heads by the poolside for rinsing off after your swim, a little crowded when busy. I'm hoping the refurbishment will fix the issues.

Training pool only open at mo, sorry folks but the changing room and facilities cleanliness is far below par. Showers barely work. Good 50m pool open at weekends though. Staff friendly and helpful.

The kids play area is fun for little ones 6 yrs and under. Only issue is the big pool is freezing along with the atmosphere is way too cold.

Pool: i like the lane booking so it's not over crowded. However, the way the changing rooms are set up is not very hygenig. you walk on the same spot with your bare feet amd outside shoes instead of having it designed in a way thatseparates street shoe area and barefoot area. There are not many showers, so at busy times you're left queuing for the cubicle shower. Health suite: nothing suite like about this place. same issue of not separating street shoe and barefoot, so it tunes nasty pretty fast. also, as a central european, this place is faaaar from hygenic. it's 2 textile saunas and 1 steam room, i.e. everyone wears their swimmers or even long sleeve cloths on ladies only days and sitting directly on the wood and sweats into it. my friend got a fungal infection twice after visiting. so really not very hygenic. i prefer the continental european sauna tradition of everyone is naked, but sits on their own towel, feels way more hygenic. i went to the mixt gender sauna day and ladies only. the latter is nothing for those seeking a relaxing, peaceful time. it is loud, overcrowded, ladies putting on mudmasks and polluting the hot top. i do not reccomend at all. go to an all gender day, it's more calm, peaceful and respectful in my experience. dance studio groumd floor: took a dance class there, was ok. but afterwards we were asked to pick up a mat for some streaches, again noone brought towles and just layed on the mats super sweaty. nothing for the faint hearted. it only gets an overall 3starts cause i like that there's a 50m pool in the city of manchester. the health suite should get 1.5 stars.

Great facility, well priced swimming for adults and children. 50m pool available during some hours. Good prices memberships. Currently mostly closed for a large-scale refurbishment until Spring/Summer 2023. Training pool has some slots available though.

I’m not sure the centre was actually ready to open - it’s opened all the same and abandoned being at all appealing for families. The new splash park might be ok if it was warm or had any kind of shallow pool area for younger children. The 1.2m pool is on the cooler side and we had to leave after 20 mins as our three year old was shivering. The changing facilities are a minefield and the lockers are barely big enough to fit your average swim bag and certainly do not cater to families. There are three larger lockers located outside the changing places room but I feel these are designated for those with additional needs. The place doesn’t feel ready to be open with boxes everywhere and staff not really knowing what is going on - there’s an all round fed up feeling about the place. The refurb clearly was not aimed at local families and seems a complete waste of funds. I’m sure those going for a solo swim may find the facilities adequate but those thinking of taking young children for a swim will find there’s not much on offer at the Aquatics Centre.

The second door access to the gym is a hassle because sometime our mobile network is slow, secondly there are some exercise machines which shouldn’t have been put in the cardio, they belong to the strength room.

Facilities are really brilliant since the renovations in 2023. The pool is much cleaner and the changing facilities have been modernised... which was much needed!

Well at the moment under refurbishment but don't expect it to be clean or have working lockers I am sure they will fix so it's ok but needs improvement

Great 50m pool. Changing rooms clean with lockers that take £1 coins or padlocks and a small counter selling food and drinks. It can sometimes be a struggle to swim here for fitness as the lanes are often not managed well by pool staff, meaning people visiting for just a float about are clogging up swimming lanes. Gym is missing some key equipment, and is a maze to navigate, and the health suite is often very unclean, noisy and not very relaxing.

Sadly I was trapped in one of the lifts which broke down in this newly refurbished centre ahead of the World ParaSwimming Championships. Despite calls for help, no-one from the centre came to see how we were. It took 55 minutes for the lift engineer to arrive and release us.

Great experience. I found out you needed to book online and was able to get a space at 4pm. Booking means it is not too crowded and the lanes have plenty of space. Two drawbacks: the 50m pool is divided in two and the public section is only 23m due to the divider and secondly, does not have flags to indicate the ends making backstroke a little harder.

Best place I have found to swim in the city centre for a reasonable price so far. The booking system is easy on the app if you have a membership. A tip for adults is use the Health Suite (if you are happy to pay or have it as part of your membership) for storing belongings/showering/changing etc. as it is much nicer and more calm than the main changing village with kiddies/teenagers running around screaming everywhere. The centre would be improved by having a drying machine in the Health Suite (have to walk around to the main changing to do this) also a second “Medium” lane in the fitness pool as there are unused lanes but the “Slow” gets very busy with people who seem to just float about (they could do this in the smaller pool).
