Just recently cancelled my membership due to the sheer capacity of this place. Impossible to get on much and stood about waiting for things to use while people are sat there on equipment on phones etc. If u want a quiet gym then this isn't the place to go. Thermal spa is a nice place to be when again not full of people. For me this place needs to cap members or expand the place. Classes are good when they don't change the timetable without notice to the members so for example say you enjoyed a class on a certain day and time you have been attending. ( have to book early as they fill up) they just remove it for unknown reasons. If the gym was bigger and less claustrophobic and extremely busy then might join again but until then it's no go.

Really disappointed, My family and I have been member of the club for the last past years.Recently there is a new ridiculous rule which you can not take in any guest with you after 4 o’clock five days a week!!! I asked the receptionist to pay the £15 fee so I would be able to take my brother (who used to be a member here) in while I still have gust passes .She said you can not take anybody in after4 o o’clock unless you setup a direct debit monthly plus your member ship!! I understand if it’s busy but even if you pay the full £15 you still can not take any gust with you. After a long drive we had to get to the club ,We had to go back home without going in.This new rule is not fair and as a member after these years I’m really disappointed……

Greedy price changes and time cuts. Student pricing going up for 34 pounds to 40 pounds, with hours cut for no reason consdering the gym is 24 hours for some. Makes absolutely no sense that if I pay 20 pounds extra (to a full membership at 55) from my initial contract that I can get 24 hour access. Its ridiculous that I have to make a 6 month commitment which I cannot cancle my contract, yet they changed my hours from 24 access to not being allowed in at 10:30. Its a shame as I really really thought it was a great gym with good facilities, even getting my friends to buy memberships. Its sad, to see how waterside treat their student customer base. Really dissapointed, and I expected more the price that I use to pay, let alone the absurd prices they charge now. Stay clear and go to the village gym instead.

Great gym and facilities, however the gym is now being run down due to thuggish members joining the gym, I have seen abuse and experienced it myself. The authorities need to manage whom they give memberships to and monitor behaviour. Or increase the prices to at least £100 so these thugs can’t join!! And it will clean up the mess! Lower prices brings more thugs and overpopulation!

Going down hill very fast due to its policy of not managing the members behaviour . Loud mouth yobs, criminals with electronic tag are now becoming the norm. The gym itself is fantastic . But more and more poorly behaved members intimidating other members and making others feel uncomfortable when in the gym. Not the sort of experience any one wants ,so I can only say I will be cancelling membership and looking at some where else if nothing is done.

Ridiculous policy changes Can not make sense of how they increase the price and then subsequently reduce the hours of the student membership. As a university student most of the day is spent on campus, not letting us use the facilities after 10 30 makes very little sense. Staff couldn’t help when I voiced this concern either, saying it was due to ‘security concerns.’ Again this makes no sense, because I can pay 15 quid extra a month and all of a sudden whatever ‘security concerns’ there were disappears. As a member of this gym, you feel like a data point in the computer system rather than an actual customer- which is not a good feeling. As a gym itself, it’s lacklustre. Some standard equipment missing, such as the famed ‘sus’ machine. The pool is standard and the spa whilst ambitious, has nothing on actual high end gyms like David Lloyds Waterside tries very hard to be luxury, but once you step inside the facade is lifted and you see what it is. A soulless cashgrab with very little loyalty towards its customers. The only somewhat redeeming quality is the gym staff themselves, who are quite friendly and happy to assist.

i signed a contract with waterside leisure club for full gym membership, The company (Harlands Group) that handles their direct debit couldn't take the debit amount yesterday and sent me an email with £25 admin fee on top of my payment. I said this is just not fair at all especially in these times. And they were like we can't do anything at all, this is what you have in when you signed a contract with waterside. Waterside never clearly told that there will be an admin fee of £25 if the payments are missed accidentally. stay away from these type of gyms that use harlands group as their direct debit handler.

Staff super friendly, welcoming and helpful. Good selection of equipment, and management responsive to suggestions. Hakim does a brilliant job in keeping the mens changing facilities spotless 💪

It's a leisure center first, hotel second, with cosy hotel ambience in communal areas sadly very lacking. Location was good, reception staff friendly. HOWEVER, we had the worst night sleep we've ever had in a hotel. We were kept awake by vermin scurrying about across the ceiling above us throughout the night. When reported we were informed they had a problem with "squirrels". Staff were understanding and we were told at reception that they would ask the manager to call us. A free breakfast on a day when we had a brunch booked out, was not good enough and the manager did not feel the need to follow up with the call that we were promised. Bottom line; rats/mice in the ceiling, beware room 307 and if you hear scurrying about in the ceiling, ask to be moved asap, as by night it will drive you crazy. Very disappointing.

The spa was by far the best bit and the actual reason I booked the hotel. The spa and steam rooms etc were brilliant and very clean. However I booked a king size room and it’s safe to say it’s no bigger then a single room. I wouldn’t like to see what they class as a basic or double room. I got 6 coat hangers behind a mirror and never got a wardrobe or anything. The drinks aren’t cheap either, £22 for two gins was crazy. The lady was cleaning (hovering) and the bar area looked closed (10pm) then I asked if it was open, she then dropped the hover zipped off her coat and then said yeah what would you like, not quite the service I expected. But the room, seriously don’t book a king size you’re just wasting money if you think you’re getting luxury. We didn’t even get gowns, and considering it’s a spa hotel that baffles me. Also the bathroom was tiny. I’m giving 2 stars just for the spa and friendly receptionists.

One of the best gyms in Manchester. Eight squat racks, which is unrivalled. Good amount of space, good cardio equipment too (Wattbikes). Reason it's not five is the changing rooms. Poor, small, bad choice of design (grey tiles). This really stops it from being a luxury club. As some people have said aswell, the Spa is like a debate club. People shouting and hollering. Need staff to check it often and tell people to shut it tbh.

Good gym with decent parking, nice scenic location. I like the pool facilities such as the 25 meter swimming pool, Jacuzzis are the best in the business, as I have been a member of the more expensive clubs locally and their hot tubs are nowhere near as strong as the ones at this place. Steam and sauna are also decent. The price for this gym is also reasonable. Showers in the changing rooms could be better however.

I left The Waterside a few years ago because the ladies changing rooms were freezing with cold air blowing in. The ladies (after a class) used to go to reception and ask for it to be turned down. However I was told recently it wasn't cold anymore. So I rejoined and it is correct, it's warm everywhere again, so it's nice you can have a shower after class without shivering and get dressed properly and dry your hair in comfort and go about your day. Previously I was coming home afterwards to finish drying my hair, it was all too much trouble and took more time out of my day. Also the cafe was cold then too. This all seems to have changed again and I don't mind paying the monthly fee if I can get ready to carry on my day without having to go home and finish getting ready for the day. Well done Waterside for making the facilities more comfortable again. It sounds petty, but I really didn't look forward to going because of the cold. Now I get ready and go to my appointments afterwards. So far really pleased.

5 days a week I'm using the leisure club. The classes are brilliant especially the zumba, salsa dance and palates classes. The place is nice and clean. A very friendly atmosphere

I have recently joined this gym. The male changing rooms are horrendous. The 2 small changing rooms (in each corner) need to be cleaned. I have an image (which I won't post) of what seems to be fecal matter on the hinges of one of them. The smell of drainage is horrendous. Please, leave some air fresheners or anything scent related to take the foul smell out. Use bleach to clean the drains. It's repulsive. The air con is on full blast at all times and I just don't get why in winter you have the rooms so cold? It costs money and it's not energy efficient. Save that money and invest it in a team of cleaners. The level of hygiene is lower than your commercial budget gyms. The equipment are old and packed tightly next to eachother. The people who go to this gym are decent people, which gives the gym a pleasant atmosphere. Hygiene is very, very, very poor.

This has been by far the best hotel experience I’ve received staying in a hotel. The service from the staff was just phenomenal, so friendly and really went out of their way to make the stay great, we thoroughly enjoyed all the facilities and the restaurant food was incredible! Breakfast was great also, really recommend, will 100% stay there again.

Stayed here last year September. Definitely a Leisure Centre first and foremost. Hotel facilities extremely basic. The rooms are very small and we could not walk straight on around the bed and to slide through side ways. They also take a hefty deposit for breakages. There was no wardrobe and it was the weirdest thing where you hung your clothes. Definitely would not recommend if your looking to stay over. Dining is cafeteria style.

"👎 This gym seriously needs to step up their game. The wait time to join was ridiculously long, and to make matters worse, no one bothered to attend to me. Talk about poor customer service! 😡"

Good hotel and nice leisure centre though the leisure centre is small and the hotel room pillows are super uncomfortable. The room was clean and bathroom was really nice.

My current and favourite place for relaxation as well as to keep fit and train, great facilities, awesome staff and nice members, slightly biased as they gave me my first job and has always held a special place in my heart since.

I have never been part of a gym that is more customer focused than Waterside. No matter what member of staff I interact with, they instantly assist and help me with a smile. The transparency and up to date information we were given throughout the pandemic has been outstanding and even though I have moved 10 miles away from the area, I travel just that bit extra because I know I'll never find a better gym!!

Went to stay for a night and the facilities were amazing but not as amazing as the staff. We were welcomed by Tyler at reception with excellent banter, 10/10 hospitality by Sarah Jane during breakfast and a pleasant checkout with Liv. All in all 10/10 stay would go again. Also the gym, pool and sauna was cracking 5/5
