Stayed one night just before Christmas but a very comfortable sleep. Clean and tidy. Spacious room with tea and coffee facilities in the room. Bathroom of a good size and modern. Breakfast is European style (with fridge) located in the corridor outside the room but available at all times. Good selection which seems to get topped up regularly. Plenty of parking behind the pub/hotel but whilst it says “hotel guests”, think was used by pub patrons, so got busy. Only down side is access. Metal stairs outside back of pub. Second flight up only handrails at one side. Was wet and care has to be taken both ways. Access could be a problem for the infirm. Staff helpful when checking in at the bar. Even with the pub busy, the second floor rooms quiet.

New emphasis on outside areas (undoubtedly prompted by events in recent times) has somehow made inside feel a bit small, remarkable in what is a large pub. However, this is more than compensated by the well implemented outside improvements, and the overall quality of the place. Families are well-catered for, and I think the food offering are above average. Food and drink is not cheap, however, and a family meal out will need budgeting, but perhaps this is little different to anywhere at moment. Overall, recommended, but probably not optimum for an extended drinking session with just friends.

Drinks selection was good, vegan menu was alright. Food wasn’t exactly special but I think the non-vegans with us were much happier! Great vibe on a Sunday. Their online booking system is really clunky and definitely needs looking at!

I arranged to have my mums funeral reception here and the way we were looked after was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble, generous buffet and reasonably priced. I wanted this event to run smoothly and it did thanks to the excellent staff. 👏👏👍

We enjoyed 2 nights of the best sleep we've had in a long time. The deluxe super king is like sleeping on a cloud, genuinely the comfiest bed I've ever had the pleasure to sleep in. The staff were friendly and cheerful and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. The breakfast bar was a bonus with lots of sweet treats, cereal, and cold drinks to start the day or have a midnight snack. We will definitely stay here again when visiting friends in the area, and will be sure to recommend it to others.

Met up with friends for lunch and sat outside as a glorious day. Wonderful food & drink, good variety to choose from and plenty of it. Staff were warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Recommend the Cheese Pie as well as the Cheese Cakes - simply can't be beaten. Will be visiting again very soon.

It's ok, more of an inn than a hotel. One the bright side the room was clean and the continental breakfast was a self service stack bar just outside my door - had some tasty treats (great for a midnight snack 😋). Probably not the best for business trip but if you want a pub close/ downstairs then this place would be ideal.

The staff and food was 10/10! Myself and my girlfriend had the carvery and nothing was left on the plate so fresh and wasn't a long wait. The Guinness was one of the nicest Guinness I had since I moved too manchester 🇮🇪. Sunday well spent!

A great place to stay! The room was really nice - clean and well appointed. My only challenge was a slightly too soft bed (my preference, though). The staff were super friendly and accommodating of requests for room cleaning and help. The pub downstairs is also great - food and beer are wonderful and the service is friendly. Thanks for an excellent stay!

Went here for lunch last Sunday. Had a Sunday roast and a Burger with my partner. We really enjoyed our food and the service was quick and polite. The classic pub interior looks great. Will definitely be back for more homemade food :)

The staff are great. The food is delicious, and includes vegan options. My NZ Sauvignon blanc is a little pricey, but it is one of the nicest ones I have ever tasted. Definitely give this pub 10/10 - worth a visit x

We stayed here for two nights and were really impressed. Firstly location: Chorlton is a lovely part of Manchester, and just off the end of Beech Road the pub is by a lovely vibrant sub-area. Rooms were generous but not vast and spotless. A very big and comfortable bed. Yes, being a pub a bit bubbly/noisy outside of an evening (what would you expect?) but once closed super quiet. Staff in particular were friendly and attentive. For breakfast (and snacks at other times) the help-yourself small “kitchen” area was perfect for us: well stocked with all you need for a continental breakfast. If you want a big cooked breakfast (we didn’t) there is plenty of choice nearby. We will definitely be back.

Decent food! Glad I got the gluten free fish and chips, the vegan ice cream Sunday was delicious too! The outdoor heaters were great and the draft cider was delicious. Lots of choice for various drinks and food!

Room was clean and met our expectations. Staff were friendly and location was ideal for us. Unfortunately the good continental breakfast available would have been ideal but all the milk had gone off or was out of date.

Food was just about adequate. £35 could've been spent elsewhere on better food. Cold chips, no HP sauce available and only option for decaf coffee was instant and charged £3 for it.

Great pub. One star off as the food order was a fiasco, the wrong thing came out twice and an item forgotten. It seemed as if everyone was hungover from the night before. It’s good that there’s a tap out side so dogs can have fresh water,

Love LOVED our stay here. Incredible staff, rooms are so clean and comfortable. I would 100% recommend. Very family friendly and great location, close to the tram that takes you into central Manchester. Also, the self service food available is such a great idea, makes breakfast hassle free!

Self service continental breakfast available when staying at The Bowling Green. Good for those with on the go schedule. Accommodation is comfortable with everything you may need provided for including umbrellas by the door for borrowing in bad weather. Tasty and plentiful meals available for lunch and in the evening. Thank you for including apple pie on the dessert menu ! - my favourite which regretfully isn't seen often enough on restaurant menus these days

I booked a table for eight on the website fir lunchtime Wednesday. Excellent pub grub. The meat pie I had was a very tasty large slice of pulled beef. More than I could eat. The service was excellent despite a funeral group in the pub too. Doombar beer was really well kept.

We hired the ‘Guinness Garden’ for our sons christening party and owner Mark and GM Liam were both great and super friendly when booking, then the staff on the day were so attentive & helpful too. The hotpot we had for the party was delicious! All in all it’s a very informal & relaxed place.

I had my grandads funeral here, wow Jess, mark & Liam couldn’t have been more helpful with the organisation of this, which took a lot of pressure off. The food was gorgeous, I would say a little on the expensive side for food and drinks BUT the food was delicious and could tell it was home cooked like stated. Absolutely brilliant venue, would definitely recommend.

This place is a hidden gem, we had a funeral wake here today and had the cold buffet, The service was 5 star, nothing too much trouble for anyone. The whole experience was uplifting after what was a day of sadness, but the whole team here was so helpful and accommodating that you just felt as though they were already friends with you. The outside of this place is so inviting and beautiful, clean and tidy all the way through the pub, and the food was exceptional, providing for all needs. I am so impressed with this place that now this has become my local and I will be going back regular. If you are looking for a place for an event then I would highly recommend this venue.

Fantastic pub run by a great team who are really friendly and will go out of their way to help. The rooms are very comfortable and impeccably clean and pub grub was good. Specially thanks to Sam for her calm and professional management of our private party and getting 40 plates of different food out to the right guests even though they all kept moving places! We'll be back for sure.

Good place to catch the sun & great for families as there's a kiddies area in the back. We were swamped with other people kiddies on our last visit though so will probably head there after 8pm next time haha!

Had a meal there with an old friend. Decor and seating somewhat old-fashioned. Staff friendly and helpful. Uninspiring choice of real ales. My cheese and onion pie with fries and salad was okay but for £13 plus hardly good value. Given that this pub is also a boutique hotel, I think the interior of the pub should be brought upto current standards.

They still have hoegaarden on draft 🤩 New and improved outdoor area that is actually great. Such a nice place to sit outside for a few drinks, especially mid week. Nice relaxed pub, friendly staff, nothing fancy apart from hoegaarden 👌

Enjoyed a fantastic roast dinner here today, which tasted just like home made, desserts delicious also and staff very friendly and attentive despite a really busy service. Good value for money too. Will definitely be back when visiting our daughter in Manchester!

I highly recommend The Bowling Green. They provided a beautiful deluxe buffet for my Mothers funeral. The food was very fresh, really delicious and the quantities were great. The service was excellent and the room was perfect. Great value for money. Thank you Mark and Jess for making this a lovely occasion for our family. Xx

Tries to be something it's not, with a weird welcoming table by the entrance. Looks cheap, and the food is distinctly average. Tried the 'famous' roast the other week. Famous for being overcooked, no doubt. Absolutely blasted the topside beef.

Just back from a three night stay at this fab place to see the cricket. Such a fantastic location, easy to get to the cricket ground and the tram stop for the city centre. Very comfortable room (if a little warm!) and a small selection of cereal/fruit/juices etc for a self serve breakfast. Thank you for a lovely stress free break, cricket was fab too!!!!

I went there for my dads birthday and the service was very good. I ordered halloumi fries and they were delicious, except that I ordered a kids fish fingers and they were not cooked properly and the peas weren’t fresh. Except from that it was good.

Sunday lunch here was a bit disappointing. Aunt Bessie Yorkshire Puddings, small amount of lamb - quite tasteless- and the blandest of un-roasted roast potatoes I’ve ever had! Staff were nice though.

Really let it's self down with the roast. I was misled by the £15 price tag and the 'carvery bap' thinking it would be a high standard carvery roast. What we got was one step below a spoons roast. Everything microwaved, horrible meet and a spray of gravy on it. Nice pub but can't believe they let something that poor leave the kitchen, put me off coming back again. £30 for two ready meals
