Cool
venue,
but…..
Depot
Mayfield
looks
amazing,
it’s
a
huge,
industrial
venue
that
has
been
beautifully
decked
out,
however
this
is
where
the
praise
stops.
Getting
into
the
venue
means
dealing
with
airport
type
security,
separate
lines,
bag
checks
and
even
sniffer
dogs.
Fair
enough
you
might
think;
there’s
a
huge
number
of
people
tightly
packed
into
the
room
and
they
want
to
be
as
cautious
as
possible.
The
security
staff
are
what
makes
this
problematic.
Rude,
surly
and
deeply
unpleasant.
We
were
herded
through
multiple
stages
of
the
entrance
by
people
in
Hi-Vis
jackets
bellowing
at
us.
There
is
no
actual
bar,
so
the
insanely
expensive
drinks
are
like-warm
at
best.
The
stage
is
weirdly
low,
so
it
as
extremely
difficult
for
my,
not
exactly
short,
fiancé
to
see
the
band
at
all.
And
the
sound
mix
was
appalling.
Favourite
songs
were
an
incoherent
mush
half
of
the
time.
Now,
none
of
this
would
have
really
mattered
too
much,
certainly
not
enough
for
a
one
star
review
had
there
been
air
conditioning.
More
than
a
thousand
of
us
were
packed
in
tightly
to
see
The
National.
Hardly
a
band
to
induce
mosh
pits.
We
were
all
singing,
swaying
and
dancing,
but
everyone
in
the
venue
was
dripping
with
sweat,
for
the
simple
reason
that
there
were
no
fans.
It
made
the
experience
extremely
uncomfortable
throughout
the
show
and
I’m
amazed
that
we
didn’t
see
anyone
pass
out.
Leaving
the
concert,
my
fiancé
remarked
‘good
gig,
I’d
never
come
to
this
venue
again
though’.
