I wouldn’t be able to fully state how much we enjoy every visit here. I believe we have eaten here about 5 times now. Every single visit the menu have been refreshed and compliments to the chef! It’s truly inspirational to see the constant invention happening within that little open kitchen. The service is always impressive. Friendly, quick, full awareness of every tables needs. The ease of the email booking is personal and smooth. And most importantly the food! It’s exactly what it needs to be. The setting, flavours & portion sizes always leave me feeling content & happy! Just an absolutely wonderful restaurant that Manchester should be proud to have. If I can eat the Manchester money bags at least once a month for the rest of my life it would have been a good life!

First time visiting this place and it was really nice. It’s good to find a restaurant that serves a variety of different fish dishes and isn’t extortionately priced. All the dishes we had were nice, the wine list is pretty small but the wines are quite varied in style which is good.

We are very glad to have found this place! Lovely food, great service & good wine suggestions too! The music was just right and the lighting was absolutely spot on as well. We shared the wood pigeon as starter and then had the crab bisque and the veal as mains. Generous portions, balanced flavours and great attention to details too. The only thing I would like to see improved is the temperature. It felt very hot and stuffy upstairs to the point that I started sweating! There were fans but didn’t do much to cool the air down. Great experience though and we will definitely be back soon!

Lovely, quite intimate restaurant on the ground floor of an apartment block. Cracking food, an ever changing series of small and large plates on a chalkboard. You can have a small plate for starters and a large for mains, or two small plates or any combination you want. Delicious combination of tastes with seafood/fish a dominant but not exclusive theme. A bit of a walk from the center, but definitely worth it.

One of the few places in Manchester where the chefs understand what good food tastes like. A great place to go for top quality food. The main courses of Sole with butter and ginger and the lobster demonstrated fine skills and food knowledge. I thought the starters need more (or perhaps less) work. The clams cooked in a hammy broth just didn't need the ham or the broth.. just more clams. I think the dish would have worked better in winter. The scallops with tomatoes were off the reservation but the funny crisp thing with an avocado sorbet in the middle just wasn't necessary and didn't taste great either...it just needed more tomatoes and more scallops. I thought the price at 90.00 for two starters and two mains with a bottle of wine was reasonable and I will definitely go back.

11/10 would recommend! Overall, the food was top notch, amazing service, cosy vibes with loads of plants (the thing that attracted me to the restaurant) and something to treasure 😋 For small plates, we had: 🥩Rare Beef Fillet Tataki - The soy sesame dressing was packed full of flavours that complemented the tender beef. There were beef + pickled ginger wontons in this dish too that had a very crispy wonton skin and a well balanced filling 🐟 Trout Ceviche - The trout was so fresh! What surprised me in this dish were how well seasoned the avocado mousse was. The lime, coriander + chilli were subtle but brought great freshness to this dish! For large plates, we had: 🐟 Halibut (specials) - Well cooked halibut with a spinach+leek beurre blanc (sauce) that enhanced the flavours of the dish. It came with smoked haddock beignets that complemented the soft halibut, adding texture to the dish. The crispy seaweed was such a good addition to the presentation and pairs well with the dish. 🐟 Roast Cod loin - Less heavy flavours when compared to the above dishes, but had a hearty miso+clam butter which had a creamy texture. The cod was topped with herb crumbs and came with very fresh clams. For desserts, we got panna cotta 🍮 that had such a thick creamy texture. It came with peaches, raspberries and a gingerbread that complemented the dish so well. For drinks, we got: 🍷Black Beer w Rasin Wine - Tasted like pedro ximénez with a hint of stout. 🍹Yuzu, Lemon n Tumeric - Surprisingly very tasty and refreshing! p.s. for the bad pics, i was too excited to eat 😅 To note, their menu changes weekly (some dishes may stay). When you book with them, they would send you their menu on the day of the booking (or you could pop by to see their menu) - i hope you’ll be able to try the dishes i did because i enjoyed the food so much that i would come back again.

Lovely little Indy restaurant situated on a busy, interesting street. We found Street Urchin in advance on a search of the area and it went above and beyond our expectations. They’ve done a fantastic job of designing their restaurant which hit us immediately upon entry. A lovely mix of modern industrialism met with complementary lighting and a pinch of mid century detail. The staff were brilliant. We called in advance to book a table and they fit us in with no problem. When we arrived they were helpful and friendly, going through the menu options with us and answering questions we had. Their menu changes frequently as all of the food is freshly sourced daily. The kitchen is open and allows you to see the whole process. Clearly the chefs take a lot of pride in their work. With a lot of choice available it was difficult to choose as they all sounded wonderful. A great variety of choice and unusual dishes that are quite different to the norm. The food was outstanding. Presentation alone was wonderful and the taste did not compromise as a result. Bursting with flavour with generous portion sizes. We didn’t have to wait long for it to arrive and it was piping hot when it did. We also had pudds which benefit from an equally diverse selection and were just as delicious. Overall, there was not a single disappointment and we had a very positive experience. Would definitely recommend Street Urchin to anyone in the area and would love to visit again next time I’m in Manchester.

Fantastic little hidden gem. A very cosy restaurant with lots of attention to detail, from the staff to the menu it did not disappoint. Such a wide variety of dishes available daily, with such intricacy and flavour. The staff were lovely and friendly which added to the experience. The food was delicious I think 1 small and 1 large plate per person is the perfect amount. Compliments to the chef, each dish was a hit, each plate thoroughly thought out and every ingredient plays it’s part. It’s the type of atmosphere that you just feel comfortable whether you’re dressed up or casual, the type of place where you order that extra drink at the end and just sit and chat enjoying your surroundings and company. We were very impressed and would return in a heartbeat, one of the best restaurants in Manchester, complex dishes without being pretentious! Thank you guys!

A pleasingly complex and regularly evolving menu. We had fallow deer carpachio with blackberries as a shared starter. Absolutely delicious. Then trout and prawn in filo which was great. Excellent wine list. Friendly staff who know their stuff. Has a really good neighbourhood feel and a menu that makes you want to keep coming back.

Such a lovely place, especially for plant lovers, so cosy and welcoming. We had 2 starters and 3 mains alongside a lovely bottle of wine. Everything was delicious, that why we decide to get an extra main.

We absolutely love St Urchin and always come here when we are after some tasty dishes and always come here for a special celebration. Rachel and the team have the service locked down and it's such a warm family style of service everytime. We love getting the menu closer to the time to get excited with their superb specials and dishes that change on the menu. If you love fish and sharing, this is the place to be! The decor is amazing, wine is delicious too. Always good vibes, excellent service and food everytime. We love St Urchin!

Seafood lovers, this is your place. There were 4 of us and we ordered about 1/2 the menu between us and all shared. Generally not bold punchy flavours to the dishes, but finer more delicate notes. All very tasty and well presented. I think whilst it was superb to try, we won’t be returning, and didn’t feel the price or the service (largely from the owners not the actual staff) was particularly great.

The baked apple with cured salmon is just too yummy! ( this is on special menu). Interesting combination with baked sole with Japanese pickled ginger. Overall value for money , recommend to try.

Great food and service. I 100% recommend eating here. Also, get the Manchester Moneybags, it's a desert and it is AMAZING! Like my favourite dish out of the lot... and I did order a lot, I would literally go back just for the desert it was absolute 🔥. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The menu descriptions are seriously understated. The good is infused with rich flavours and seasoning. This should be fine dining but the portions are too big!

Nice service, great dishes! Vegetables in all the dishes are fresh and well-seasoned. We especially like pan fried rack of mutton. Its sauce is exquisite!

Very disappointed in food. Presentation was very nice however... Mussels for a starter were FULL of sand. Every. Single. One. Sauce wasn't the best. Oysters were quite small and tasteless. One main course had tasteless sause and the second one was so so greasy. Didn't finish both meals and felt horrible afterwards. Unfortunately won't be back

Went here for a date and it was absolutely amazing, the place is so cute and welcoming and the menu is absolutely fantastic, we got loads of small plates to share and I'm glad we did because we got to sample so many amazing things! Service was lovely and attentive and we had a great time.

I have not been writing reviews for quite a while but this hidden gem in Manchester has caught my eyes and appetite. Very cosy place with not many tables. The servicing staff are all very friendly and attentive. I ordered to Mussels disk labeled as “small” size on the menu but it is quite decent portion. The sauce was very good and special and is a must try. Not a drop left. Being half full already, I indulged myself with a crispy pork chop. It was said to be large. I was wrong! It was HUGE!!! So yummy that I couldn’t help myself finishing all. Worst still, the lovely lady manager convinced me to have another two scoops of HOMEMADE ice-cream as they offer my favorite caramel flavor and it was a Sunday. I was absolutely full flat out. Still, my humble advice is to try out as many different dishes as you can. I notice other customers book the next visit after their meal. ps. Check their opening time as they don’t do long hours and close on Mon/Tue. In fact, better book in advance and reserve the window seats. And it’s a pet friendly place. Cheers!

Really lovely food and service, the bouillabaisse was especially delicious. The food was the best we've had in Manchester and the portions were very generous - great value for money! The menu was very varied and interesting, I'll definitely be returning. I'd highly recommend

Great gem of a restaurant! Friendly staff and tasty dishes. The menu looks like changes often, and the dishes (smoke duck breast and stuffed baby squid starters, monkfish curry and scallop St Jacques mains )we had were very good. Full complements to the chef and front of house.

A quirky, little restaurant with fantastic food and great service. The oysters were the freshest I've tasted and came with salt and pickles - delicious. The king scallops were cooked well too.

Had an incredible meal at @st_urchin on Wednesday evening, to celebrate my partners birthday. To start: Pyefleet Pure Rock Oysters, with lemon, rock salt and shallot vinegar…a dash of Tabasco too. My first time trying oysters and they were little magical flavoursome morsels! Welk & Crayfish Cigars with pickled ginger and seaweed mayonnaise - delicious seafood spring rolls basically 😋 Pigeon Saltimbocca with beetroot & pear salad with a walnut pesto. This dish was INCREDIBLE full of flavour that packed a punch. Mains: Creamy Smoked Haddock Chowder, Clams, Coley & Leeks with Crispy Crab Beignets! An incredibly delicious and rich dish…all the flavours and textures transported me to San Francisco! Whole Grilled Bream with almond butter, olives, pickled grape salad and fries. This was a mammoth of a dish and super tender fish fully seasoned and the sweetness of the grape was fantastic. The fries were also INCREDIBLE! Dipped in the chowder? Of course *chefs kiss* Pudd: Manchester Moneybags…basically an inventive way of presenting a Manchester tart! Custard filled Pastry Pockets deep fried and sprinkled in coconut and powdered sugar, drizzled in raspberry jam…little bites of heaven! An incredible meal and will be booking again very soon! Lovely intimate setting for a real special occasion. The staff were so welcoming and friendly too. Just lovely!

Really great food and a nice range of ingredients. The only criticism is the deer was a bit too salty but otherwise everything was amazing.

Went to Street Urchin for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago and it was delicious, will definitely return. Service was attentive and very good, all the dishes were creative and tasty, good portion size but the star was the bouillabaisse fish soup!!!

Been wanting to go here for months and was not disappointed! Had the small plate mussels - mopped up the delicious creamy sauce with some delightful garlic bread. Followed it up with the duck leg and lentils topped off nicely with homemade black pudding. Service was great, as expected. Would definitely recommend!

Had a really amazing lunch here yesterday. They must have a really talented chef to cleverly bring together so many different flavours and ingredients. The menu is very varied with every dish likely something you haven’t eaten before. Out of the four of us who ate we all scored the food 10/10. The restaurant itself has a relaxed atmosphere and the staff were really attentive. Would really recommend you give it a go. Can’t wait to go back.

The food was beautiful! Presentation AMAZING! Just off the charts….. very nice and small restaurant service and wait times for food are beyond compare, the staff are an honour. We’ll definitely be back as they change the menu very often… if your reading this id definitely recommend booking as we went on a Thursday evening and they had to turn people away

Absolutely amazing food, flavours and presentation out of this world. Decor was quirky and comfortable, staff knowledgeable about the dishes and wine. Will 100% be revisiting this little gem. I had the mussel chowder to start and the monkfish for main was very pleased with my choice.

Lovely interior with loads of plants. Nice modern Sandi like interior. Wonderful selection of small and large plates. Had the halloumi dish, tempura sardines and king scallops carpaccio-all excellent and good portions. The main of monkfish again hearty and good size dish. Good attentive service. Highly recommended.

Immediately received a warm welcome which continued with great service. Very polite and thoughtful. Food was excellent with interesting flavour combinations and very good produce. I would recommend this place many times. Ps. The missus says the picture of the Manchester money bags doesn't do the dessert justice.
