Parking setup is designed as a fine trap on top of extortionate parking fees. Manchester City Council parking scam. Pay and display provide invisible e-ticket. I was fined as i mistyped the number plate due to the double press of the first character, which, when typed the machine just accepts without asking to confirm if correct and it disappears. The whole system is designed to both overcharge and catch you out so as to fine you. Parking charge for 6 hours £25.10. Parking fine £25. However, on appeal, I was told incorrect number plate is not grounds for appeal, but as the council tries to be fair, they waivered the fine. If the car park gates open on approach why don't they employ ANPR to register your arrival and charge you on leaving based on time, fine not then possible as you pay for time spent and therefore no fine possible. Overall, a big parking con. Furthermore, for the cost of parking, the car park is scruffy and feels unsafe. The car park is the type you would think is £5 for all day.

Got a PNC for not realising it is pay on arrival. Quite unusual for a multi-storey to operate like this despite having the technology in place to pay on return. Indeed on return the parking machine was happy to take my money without any warning. The fact that this is not signposted clearly proves that the council is intent on making money by tricking people. You have wall and wall adverts but no warning anywhere to be seen about this important rule. The signs should be where pedestrians leave the car park or at every level where drivers park. Not when they negotiate a tight lane on entry. You have number plate recognition and can easily pursue those who leave without paying. What is the justification for paying parking wardens to go and fine cars after entry, unless these fines are a nice earner to continue to operate this scam. Appeal in - happy to take it to the court as no adjudicator will entertain this scam in the form that it is!

Don’t use this car park. Paid over phone with all bank details upfront. Half way through my meal out bank called me and said my bank details I had provided to pay had been cloned and they started taking money from my bank. 5 transactions. Just about to report to police.

I used to park here a lot but that was before the council took over. I went the other day and noticed things had changed as before you got a ticket on entering. It wasn't clear as to when you pay. I asked other drivers who were just as confused as me. So I left the car park, came back later and entered my reg number in the machine. I paid £6 and went to the car. On the windscreen was a ticket for non payment. There's no staff anywhere to talk to so the ticket clowns must hide away and watch you leave on camera. Also when you leave in your car there's no barrier to go through like before where you had to put the exit ticket in to leave. You just drive straight out so its ideal for a car thief.

Beware of the pay in advance system. My experience with multi story car parks is that you pay on exit. Here you pay in advance and they are patrolling and slapping on fines for anyone who hasn’t paid literally within minutes of parking. I was staying at a hotel near by, only realised this pay in advance after returning for more bags and found the penalty notice.

Parked here a few weeks back and the Ringo app failed, telling me the payment didn’t process. I then used the PayByPhone app and the payment went through, but as soon as it went through I got another email from Ringo telling me that had gone through too. The council were extremely unhelpful retrospectively and told me it wasn’t their problem that they wouldn’t refund me the double payment and then ignored me. Honestly just extremely rude people. The car park was also heavily motored by the parking ticket bloke, who was hanging around cars watching his phone waiting for the second the timer expired on a park so he could slap a ticket on it. A car park like any other, greedy, selfish and uncaring jerks.

Used this car park one evening last weekend. Plenty of space as it's not cheap. Over £20 for 4 hours! Can only pay for 1, 2 or 4 hours not 3? Prepayment is required so you've gotta guess how long you'll be AND guess accurately or you'll be getting a ticket as 4 vehicles had when we returned! And we only walked down 1 row of cars on 1 floor! Feels a little bit like a scam as you're forced to estimate on the high side which isn't cheap or risk a ticket. Why on earth can't you pay for what you use at the end? BE WARNED! Other than that, it's clean and seems manned or maybe he's the ticket guy?

I used this carpark for convenience but I will try very hard not to do so again. Its dingy, stinky, tight if you have a big car and it does not feel safe or secure. Its very very expensive, and just not worth it. Please park elsewhere if you can.

Apparently this is a pay on arrival car park, but appears very similar to a pay on departure one. To be fair, there are signs, but they just aren't that obvious unless you're looking for them. It's like a council run parking scam really. Shameful.

Great location but narrow roadway between floors. Pay in advance so you need to know how long you're staying for. £20.40 for 4 hours is expensive but you are minutes from Deansgate shops.

Do not park here! ZERO stars if I could. Paid for a 2 hours, came back with 45 mins left to a parking ticket!! Found the warden that gave me a ticket and apparently he couldn't see my payment on his screen even though I had my receipt to prove it. He tells me, if I want to appeal then the details are on the back of the ticket! Only way to appeal is in writing. Do they really think I have nothing better to do. Absolute Joke

Wouldn’t give it one star if it was possible, bought my ticket on the RingGo app. Received a parking ticket spoke with the parking warden who said it’s a issue with the app and said I would have to appeal the ticket have done so to be told it says on there system I didn’t pay even though I have sent them proof of the ticket, the date and time I bought the ticket to still be told it isn’t enough Would avoid at all costs, not worth it

Paid £25.40 for 6hrs using the paybyphone app as instructed on the signage. Came back to the car within the ticket timeframe to a PCN ticket from the council??!! Interestingly the fine is cheaper than the extortionate parking fee.

I can understand it is in the centre of the city centre but it is way too expensive. 5.70 for one hour is like parking in an airport literally i have never found this much expensive parking near the city centre anywhere in the Uk as far as i am aware may be this would be normal in comparison to some places but still too much expensive. Not recommended

Once again, manchester city council making it difficult to visit the city by car. Little signage highlighting pay on parking, how are you to know how long you are going to be. Rip off merchants should be wearing masks

£32.50 for 24 hour parking but an ideal location for a wedding we were attending at Manchester hall! We paid via PayByPhone app and had no issues at all!

  • 1/5 paul s. 2 years ago on Google
Parked here all day for the sum of £32.50. When I checked my bank account I had been charged twice £65.00 Trying to get a refund was horrendous. They couldn't find my payment with my car registration! I told them "bet you can find my reg if you're handing out a fine to me"

Thank God for the first thing I did was pay on arrival. But I had to pay about 20 pounds just for 3 hours of parking. That's just insane...wouldn't have done it if I really didn't have a choice... So yeah 3 stars.

Trying to pay for parking was awful. I had the app to pay but wouldn't work.( Low signal I think) signs indicated a pay station on the ground floor. Nightmare trying to find it. There were other people in the same predicament. Walking around aimlessly.

No issues in terms of safety but ridiculously overpriced. Eventually found a space but £12 for less than two hours was daylight robbery.

Tried to pay upon arrival, but the machines kept erroring. So upon my return from shopping I have a parking ticket.. I asked the warden about it, he tells me to appeal and that most appeals are won. So I do appeal.. turns out - they apparently keep records of every error, well.. apparently not mine, even though I showed them photographic evidence of the error.. Do not park here. Very narrow, and shoddy payment systems.

Perfect location to park for access to Deansgate. Security on site, plus a car wash.

Convenient for the access to the centre of Manchester but very pricey at £5.80 per hour.

Arrived just after 9am, loads of spaces! Two parking 'attendants' were on patrol but they were both really polite, told me where to pay and the pedestrian route out. As clean and smelly as any multi storey car park but that's to be expected.

I parked there for 2 hours and when I got back home I realised my car was hit there by someone. Can't find any contact details to ask for cctv. Probably the most expensive car park in NW,parking bays seems designed for motorcycle. You have to pay upfront? No security whatsoever

Its all bad news since council took over from NCP. £33+ for between 6 and 24hrs, pay on arrival, smells badly of urine, pedestrian access at ground level no longer secure so anyone breaking into your car can drive out unobstructed. To top it off I was fined £50 for accidently having one tyre on a car park space line (fair cop but the car park was almost empty so plenty of spaces) but in the identical area on the floor below the council decided not to fine the owner, some footballer i think, despite their wide vehicle being parked well 'over the line' between two spaces. I wonder why.....! Avoid if you can.

Disgusting prices £20.40 for 4 hours on arrival car park was swarming with parking attendants look to give out fines. Proceeded to pay via the advertised PAY-BY-PHONE app as soon as I got out the car. Returned to the car 3.5hours later to find the car park completely unsupervised and a PCN on my windscreen. No one to talk to at the office and have had the stress of challenging it via Manchester Council website avoid at all costs.

Only given one star because there wasn't an option for zero. Not secure, car broken into theft of personal effects, pedestrian gate was un locked, no CCTV that I could see anywhere. Cost me over £25 to park for 6 hrs and lost over £200 of personal effects, complained to council, no response. Wouldn't park here ever again.
