I wish they would give as an update on what’s happening to the refurbishment, as this was a leisure centre that catered to the wider community. It was cheap and had a ladies section. Would be really helpful to find out any updates.

This is an absolute joke the female gym is always booked out by the school, which they didn’t mention when we paid for the membership. Tell me what are we paying for? more or less everyday during the day time the school has access to female gym even on a Saturday there’s youth club on after 5pm. Now as for this mixed gym it’s appalling how are there kids under the age of 16 in the gym who don’t know how to use the equipment, it’s a safety hazard not just for the kids but other members. There’s 12yr old kids trying to pick up heavy weights. Where is the staff? How are they allowing kids this young unsupervised in the gym. Apparently kids are allowed with adults, but clearly there’s more kids in the gym than adults and the staff can see this but choose to ignore it, also there’s never any staff in the mixed gym when there’s children in there. This is becoming a joke the female gym is always booked by the school. The main gym is open with kids running around and playing game’s on equipment. The staff can see that some of the children aren’t with adults and the kids with adults aren’t be supervised, but don’t do anything just walk past. The staff needs to take some action kids under the age of 16 shouldn’t be allowed in and if they’re the staff need to be Present in the main gym. These kids are going to injure themselves and others, as half of them be playing games in there whilst their parents don’t bother to pay any attention.

I used to love the gym and everything as it was. This stupid refurb had affected alot of people. This gym was the only one in the area that was affordable and had a women's area and the only one with equipment in the women's area worth using! Broughton gyms female area is shockingly bad and is way more expensive. I'm so sad at how long it's been closed and barely any way of finding an update. What a disappointment.

Small gym. No one, not even the staff, put the weights away or tidy up. Very old equipment. No air-con during summer. Dirty, smelly showers and changing rooms. Very expensive for what it is and the price has just gone up! Only one receptionist seems friendly and a people person; the rest seem unhappy and have heard them be quite snappy to people. Short opening hours at weekends. The good is that during the morning and afternoon the gym is very quiet even on a weekend. The sauna and steam room are the only things I will miss from this centre. Only go here if PureGym is too far for you to travel to, otherwise wait until it gets refurbished at some point.

Lovely place. Did the Family time swim. Nice changing area, lockers, WC and showers. Good swimming pool. Very polite helpful staff. Attached with a nice library with lots of books and computers. Comfortable sitting. Free parking.

I am convinced the plans for this leisure centre were made by someone who has no clue about the community or by someone who hates the community and is forcing it to change! Both the mixed gym and the programme gym are upstairs. The female gym (room) is still TINY. There is no changing room in the female gym to get changed in. You have to go OUT of the room (i’m not even calling it a gym), PAST the mixed gym where the wall is fully glass so everyone in there can see you… pass the top of the stairs, which is openly visible in every direction) and around to the opposite side to get into the female changing rooms (which by the way is next door to the mens changing rooms). Like any woman or girl who covers in abayas and jilbabs is going to do that, let alone feel comfortable doing that. So it will be back to getting your abayas/dresses and hijabs off and on within the TINY female only gym and storing it in bags and keeping it in the room with you. You also have a seating area upstairs where you can sit and see the people swimming downstairs. So again, where is the privacy when this is accessible by everyone from upstairs? I haven't even seen the pool & changing rooms set up downstairs but I heard from someone else that it is always packed out and apparently men have been using the changing rooms too at the same time as female only times.

The library / work area is a jungle. Unsupervised kids running around, shouting and crying. Teenage boys cussing and causing troubles. Teen girls smoking weed inside the staff room. People speaking on the phone. All these happening at once. Meanwhile all the gym is focused on is charging £3 for non-attending FREE classes. What a joke. Really considering going back to pure gym.

Always a lot of noise, young and teenagers shouting, no one speaks with them, some people eats crisp etc and let the desk dirty. Receptionist staff really don't care, shouting as well, always talking/joking, there is not respect for people study, reading. It supposed to be quiet, it doesn't look like a library. Very bad place to study

Was excited for this gym to open but as someone who works 12 hour shifts, the timings of the female only gym are really frustrating. Why must a working woman either use the gym 6:30am-12:00 (sometimes its 6:30-8am) or 15:30-22:00, what if we want to have a workout during midday as we have work the next day and need to prepare for that. Neither do any of us want to be getting up at 6am on our days off. It’s getting really frustrating and it’s obviously a common issue as other reviews are pointing it out too. I just don’t see why the school can’t utilise the main gym seen as though its always empty and is more spacious. Not fair to expect females to share and suffer with the timings. Update- the timings have became worse!! With many days the gym being open 6:30-8:30 and then it reopens at 15:30, on fridays its at 16:30, absolutely ridiculous!! During the winter nobody likes going to the gym late, might as well make it fully into a gym for the school next door, you go to the gym and it’s empty no matter what time you go because people have just cancelled their memberships now, as will I! Sick of writing reviews and not being heard.

Took my son for swimming lessons here for a few weeks. It was okay but instructor seemed like he couldn't be bothered teaching the children properly. Never got in the pool with the less confident/nervous children. I ended up taking my son for lessons elsewhere.

The new centre is amazing, staff at the centre are lovely, well mannered and can't do enough to help you. The centre itself is clean and well kept and the pool is beautiful and well lit. Nothing like the old centre!! 😊

Very unprofessional staff specially the manager. Disappointed me so many times with ladies gym and time table. I advise all females not to join their Ladies Only gym because you can only use it 2 hours in a week and its always booked for school activities.

My rating for this centre has gone from 4 stars to 1. I had some issues before, but it was nothing major. Today as a regular customer who pays montly subscription I was sent home twice with kids and wasn't allowed on the swimming pool due to lack of staff, apparently during the school holidays, where the centre should be prepared for extra volume of customers. I wasted my time and the kids were disappointed. I understand everything but I do not understand the manager's reaction to my problem. The manager wasn't bothered to help me and kept saying there is nothing what can be done. Manager seemed to have a lack of basic managerial skills, which will enable him to find a solution to issues and problems, and did not care about customers at all. Lack of lifeguards on the swimming pool today (school holidays)was apparently due to them being too expensive to hire, according to the manager. The about 250 m2 pool with one lifeguard has been able to accomodate 25-30 people for over 3 hours and no one else was allowed. Reception staff which usually are helpful here today did not even bother to find any solution to my problem and sent me home twice. They refused to call a manager for me , who I had to chase myself. Poor management in my opinion, staff are probably not at fault but could try to understand regular customer's frustration in such situations. The only thing, after today's experience I am happy about in this centre are the swimming instructors, well qualified, kind and helpful.

My kids have used the swimming pool 1 as it has officially opened today. It was awesome. The changing rooms, the swimming pool and everything was awesome. The staff was nice. I didn't like the way some teens were there especially around less than 10 years old.

Big, beautiful, with computers to use and space to use your lappie as well. Free wifi available. Serene atmosphere, minimal noise from nearby tram route and road. Very helpful staff, kind hearted; willing to help, but more wiling to teach you to help yourself. Very affordable copiers, use coins only (I guess). Easy registration for children and adults, easy to obtain and/or replace membership card. Swimming pool suitable for children. Great stuff on sale, including swimming suits, clothes and snacks. You're not allowed to eat in the Library, though. You can borrow books, renew loan period. Properly functioning toilets available. You can have drinks in there. It's totally lovely, but I'm not sure of opening hours during holidays. MY CHILDREN AND I LOVE ABRAHAM MOSS LIBRARY!

Cannot understand how come it’s so big but the steam room and Sauna are so small you can book on the app but not point it’s not monitored in anyway so extremely busy on weekends. Cannot connect machines to the my wellness app for some reason. Gym is well laid out with a good range of machines.

  • 3/5 Rebecca K. 6 months ago on Google
Great new gym and swim facilities, however no wifi. Only wifi is the library which isn’t strong enough when in the gym. Scan to enter also doesn’t work so you have to wait at reception to get access. Would be easier if you can just book and scan at the gate

The leisure centre has a gym which also a really reasonable sized ladies only gym too. It has a lot of gym equipment though it could do with one or two more machines. Their staff are all pleasant (the ones I've come into contact with) and helpful. They is a baby and adult swimming pools with swimming lessons available for all ages and several other activities. The gym doesn't have any exercise classes which is a shame. Also the sauna and steam rooms are allocated with women only from 7 till 5 and from 5 till close down menu only during the week which is extremely unfair for any woman wanting to use the facilities after 5 and vise versa for the men. It is clear that this allow favours the Jewish and Muslim community who are the predominant users. The rest of us don't matter even though last time I checked we all pay with the Pound. Also the steam room is the most disgusting room on the face of the earth. People go in there to scrub and coughs and spite and apply all sort of creams, scrubs and scented oils. The management need to either close it down or do more inspections during use. Other than that the library is functional on the smaller side but still lovely. Lovely outdoor sitting to also cafe during term time available

We are using swimming pool quite regularly, but it could do with cleaning. Quite a lot of dirt on the bottom of the pool and changing rooms.

Centre is a little unorganised and not managed very well, i think due to lack of staff. Many incidents in changing areas go unsupervised or reported. Kids leaving swimming pool can be very rude and noisy in changing area. More presence of staff would be good. Facilities are quite basis sauna, steam showers are quite unhygienic. Door lock on steam/sauna are does not work properly so anyone can barge in and they do. Why do i need to pay £5 when i can just push the door open. Regular checks on the steam are by staff wouod be good

The gym is big enough, I think everybody can find there what they want, the pool is not that big but still okay, but it has very busy timetable and the sauna and steam room are small but still isn't impossible to use it. Anyway I like it, if somebody is looking a gym around Crumpsall it is a good one, but before you buy membership there just tell to the receptionist that you want to look around inside and they let you in, that's the way how I did it.

The Aqua class and teacher was brillant. But 25 people in a Aqua class, only 18 changing rooms and only 5 showers, bad planning design.

Water in the small pool is just the right temperature for young children. Lockers wouldn't take a round trolley token but took a £1 coin

Kate and Christy were helpful with the ladies on the female only sessions. Looking forward to the centre opening again.

There are simply not enough women's only swimming and health suite sessions, especially in the evenings (not every woman is a homemaker/carer and may have a day job!). We see many slots for mixed sessions which are less than half full leading up to them, yet women are having to compete for the women only slots. There is clearly a demand for them as they are booked up a week in advance. This is unfair and ludicrous! The people who are running the leisure centre don't seem to be in tune with the demographics of the area or care about the needs of the local community. I suggest they consult their users, or would be users, and review their services. Update: just wanted to comment on the leisure centre's response to another users concern regarding the programmable gym being used by the the school for most of the day. Please see attached a photo of the timings given for public access when the centre first opened and compare this with current timings. Contary to the leisure centre's response, the timings have been changed considerably and now limit access for members of the public. As you can see previously, women could use the gym all day Tues and Thurs and after 3pm on Mon and Fri. This has been yet another disappointment for me!

Extremely disappointed very limited women’s only health suite/swimming sessions available, always fully booked a week in advance. The health suite does not have a separate shower/changing area so once you use the sauna you have to use the mixed changing area. This makes the gym not fit for purpose for many ladies in the local Jewish and Muslim communities. I’ve spoken to large numbers of ladies who will be cancelling their memberships at the earliest opportunity.

We held our annual ballroom and latin university competition at Abraham Moss Leisure Centre Sports Hall. The venue set up was perfect and the staff were amazing to get everything in place for our event. With 400 attendees this was not a small undertaking but we have nothing but good things to say about the staff and venue and would definitely be using this venue again to host our events in the future. Amazing communication, organisation and Callum the manager made sure everything was ready for our event. Thank you so much Abraham Moss, we had an amazing day!
