I honestly don't understand what the hype is all about. Their dumplings are average. I find the wrapper too soggy. The meat inside is kinda bland. Sauce can still be improved. No parking available and they only accommodate take out. Not wheelchair accessible. Service was fast, no long lines when we went here. They only accept cash for payment. If you ask me, will I come back and eat their dumplings again? No. It's not worth it.

They always serve fresh dumplings. That's why you have to wait for at least 30 minutes before you can get your order. I always go here when I go to manila, and the service never improved. I love their dumplings so much but I don't like their unaccommodating staff. You would even sometimes hear them complain about their own customers. If you'll order in the afternoon, go here 2 hours before the closing time indicated online or else you won't get accommodated, especially if they have a lot of customers.

Sulit at sarap ang kuchay and pork dumplings, 14 pieces for under P200 lang. Freshly-made right there. Since 2013 I’ve visited Dong Bei whenever I’m in the area and the quality is consistent.

We went for some dumplings, we ordered the steam but its not really steam it's boiled in the water,we also ordered the fried dumpling. Food was ok but not that really good small piece of dumpling and small amount of meat. And no dinning here if you want to eat the food you can stand or seat along the road. I just wish they change their container they should use the paper container not the styro one its burn when you ordered the fried dumpling.

During the new normal, they get your order and you get a number for take out only. The boiled dumpling was good but can get stuck to each other. Mabye it was not rested or we let it get cold inside the packaging.

Described as a temple of dumpling worship. Dong Bei brings with it fresh handmade dumplings that is fit for an emperor. There's a reason why Dong Bei is in the top lists of places to eat in Binondo. Nothing beats freshness and flavor here. The thing to get here is the kuchay dumpling.

We got the 14pc kuchay dumplings for 200 pesos. No dine-in option so you either have to eat it outside or bring it somewhere else. Best eaten while still warm. The sauce very much compliments the dumplings but I prefer it spicy whenever I eat any kind of dumplings so don't forget to ask for chili oil!

Went here at 10:54am and there was already a queue. We got our boiled kuchay with pork dumplings at 11:12am and I regret eating it right away because the insides of the dumpling were still hot af. Best added with their chili garlic oil and soy sauce. Place only allows takeouts so you can just eat it outside the streets.

Kuchay dumplings were not bad. But perosnally, it's not something I would crave for. But the service is very accommodating. They have established their name in town, really, and I commend that.

I don’t understand the hype. The kutchay pork dumplings were OK, but certainly not the best. They weren’t even that flavorful. I suggest that you eat the dumplings as soon as you get your order, because waiting or traveling them for a few minutes will get them all soggy and sticking to each other. Also, they are only for take out. The place does not have dining area. The staff gave out order numbers, but they did not serve in chronological order.

This place is TAKEOUT ONLY for the time being. I actually wasn't able to eat here before. As a first time buyer, it was a little bit disappointing to eat the dumplings cold once we got home. We could still taste the quality but they're skins are stuck together (you'll also notice the same thing for the other reviews here). The xiao long bao tastes good too but there's no soup inside it. I also don't know if it somehow shrivelled up or that's just how this xiao long bao is. They only have limited options when we went. No noodle soup and the dumplings available were only kuchay-pork. Contrary to the other reviews, we did not experience having to line up (we went on a weekday 2:30pm). The shop even looked closed when we got there. The sign is faded as well so it wasn't that easy to spot. Service is okay... Not great but not terrible. Expect to pay exact amount as they don't have change. Overall, food still tastes good regardless of the fact you may eat it cold. Would probably only recommend if you could manage to eat the food hot in the midst of the Manila traffic.

Quality isn't the same as it used to be as far as i remember. The wrapper/dough is good but it's too thick. Wait time for cooked dumplings is about 15-20 minutes. No dine in. You can eat it in front of the store while standing or you can sit by the dirty steps 🤣

I can only say that their dumpling is freshly made, but it is not to my liking. I tried the kuchay pork dumpling. I tasted a bit of soury, maybe because of the kuchay. When we got there at 11am on the weekend there was a queue of people. Their dumplings are available for take out only. You just need to get a number, order what you want and pay for it first, then wait for your number to be called then your dumplings are ready.

This is a very small place considering its popularity, (and it’s as if they’re not looking into an expansion anytime soon) but those who know them don’t complain. Their famous products are dumplings especially the Kuchay Dumplings. The filling is refreshing to the palette however the wrapper was quite soggy and (having tasted this from other good restaurants) wanting of some shreds of ginger on the dipping sauce. But anyway, it’s all good for its price.

Fantastic hole in the wall for, as the name suggests, dumplings. Get the "best seller" pork dumplings (200pesos for 12pcs) and take a seat on the kerb to enjoy. Prepare for a line, but it's fast-moving. You'll be given a token on ordering and then it's a case of waiting for your order to be called.

A must-visit spot during your Chinatown food crawl, we ordered their classic kuchay and pork dumplings, and they were a delight – light, juicy, and with a good amount of filling. The prices are reasonable, but please note that they don't offer dine-in options, so be prepared to enjoy your meal outside.

  • 5/5 Shobe M. 4 years ago on Google
Freshly steamed. Lite and bursting with flavor of the steamed pork and slightly still crunchiness of the kuchay. It’s a not so cozy hole in the wall but I go there for my dumpling cravings.

This is an outdated review as my last visit was in 2017. Their kuchay dumplings are more of the chives side if you like chives you'll probably enjoy this. Photo was taken back when they allowed dine-in. The place is more of a hole in the wall dumpling restaurant.

Definitely one of the places you should drop by when in Binondo. They have a great selection of dumplings which are all pretty good too. You may want to temper your expectations with their xlb as it may be hit or miss sometimes buut, it still does taste good even if the soup inside is absorbed by the wrapper lol. There is no dine in option for the place and is exclusively take out so either you eat by the curb or you go elsewhere.

Went on a weekend around 10AM and there was no crowd yet. Ordered Kuchay dumplings which were served rightaway. It was hot when I received it until I finished the whole container. Make sure to bring the exact amount if you'll be visiting in the morning as they don't have any change. Servers can be improve their attitude as they were very snobbish when I was told that they don't have a change. Hope they can be friendlier next time. Dumplings were generally okay and filling but the taste is forgettable. It was okay for the experience. Orders are only allowed as take out. If you decide to eat on the sidewalk, you can give your empty container back in the store so they can dispose it for you.

Delicious dumplings at an affordable price. You can enjoy it on the sidewalk or have it taken out.

Nothing special about the dumplings - we tried the best seller pork and chives. Despite waiting they came out soggy and frankly tasted bland. To order you have to open the sliding door and talk to the staff inside, pay then you’re given a number and wait in the street. Don’t know how this place became hyped to be honest.

Dong Bei Dumplings the best dumplings. Only for take out no dine in. You can eat outside the store. Best if you add chiki sauce on the vinegar like dumpling sauce. You can also buy frozen dumplings.

Pork Dumpling Pork Dumplings has thin dumpling wrapper filled with well-seasoned pork and vegetables making the former flavorful, especially when dipped on their signature sauce. Each dumpling is made and cooked daily to make sure that Dong Bei serves fresh and flavorful dumplings to their customers. Dong Bei Pork Dumplings costs Php 180.00 per servings Beef Noodle Dong Bei Beef Noodle has al dente noodles; tender and well-seasoned beef; and flavorful soup. The former has a mixture of beefy flavor with a  tinge of salty, sour and sweet taste making the soup taste weird but delicious.

This place is so overhyped. Definitely not worth using up limited space in your tummy for a foodtrip in Chinatown. The dumplings weren’t particulary good and the relatively high price didn’t reglect the poor taste well. The place only serves take-outs and the storefront isn’t even very inviting. Staff were also not the friendliest - they weren’t rude or anything, but they also weren’t hospitable.

Boiled Kuchay w/ Pork Dumplings (P200.00 for 14 pcs) Rating: 10/10 Most favorite purchase for today! Freshly made dumplings went reallyyy weeell with the dipping sauce! I liked it a lot, I can eat it in one go. Make sure to consume everything while it's still hot. Wouldn't be as good if you'd leave it to cool. Service: 8/10 There was quite a long line when we got there but orders came out fast. Also ordered sugar/stuffed pancakes but they hesitated before saying it's not available. Made me think they just didn't want to cook it then. Ambience: 7/10 Strictly for takeouts only. There are stone steps outside you can sit on anyway.

Both my husband and I are huge fans of dumplings, and we agree that the Kuchay dumplings offered there were delicious. You should just prepare to stand in line for at least half an hour. We really ought to have placed a larger order! When you are in Binondo, this is unquestionably one of the spots that you cannot afford to ignore.

This is a hidden gem in Binondo. It's quite small, but the food makes up to it. If you want to taste authentic Northern Chinese dumplings without leaving Manila, this place is a must-visit. You can see how the dumplings are being wrapped, and you may order uncooked ones to take home. Since the area is quite small, you may have to wait during meal times, so be prepared. Also, it's not conducive for large group. Just take-out, if that's the case.

I mean... the dumplings were alright. I can't imagine walking here, waiting 45 minutes and eating outside again. There are no tables or chairs. Basically, you just wait for your number to be called out on the street. Kuchay dumplings were cheap, though! So, if you are already in the area, you may still want to check it out. It's not something I would go out of my way for, though.

Ok lang. Not as flavorful as I expected, dumplings were served hot but the filling ay mejo bland for me. Even with the chili hindi as satisfying. Place was also hard to find (near sa kanto sila). For the price (200 yung 14 pcs) hindi na uulitin. I think old people might like it though (even yung sauce was bland skshshhs).

Kuchay is really delicious! Hehe. Sobrang sulit na ng 14pcs for the price. 😊💗 Too bad they offer take out lang. Hehe. Dine-In is not allowed.

Dumplings are freshly made upon order. Travelled from Makati to Binondo just to enjoy the kutsai and pork dumplings. I also love that they have stainless chopsticks. Less plastic waste is always good. If you want to get frozen dumplings to go, they have those too.

Super sarap ng best-seller nila na kuchay dumplings! Hindi rin nagtaas ang price since we last went there in 2019. They don't allow dine in anymore nga lang, so we ate outside their store. You can still see the Ates prepping the wrap through the door.
