The Minor Basilica of Black Nazarene was located in the heart of Manila the place known as "QUIAPO". along Quezon Blvd. The Black Nazarene refers to a life-sized, dark-colored statue of Jesus Christ that was brought to Manila, Philippines, from Mexico on May 31, 1606, by the first group of Augustinian Recollect friars sent by Spain. The image was charred black in a fire that broke out on the ship during its trip to Manila from Mexico. Many devotees are from different places in luzon and the area of the Philippines gathered and went for a mass every 1st of Friday and every friday for the novena and prayer asking for blessing, healing and miracle that they are asking. Quiapo Church is now open and the restriction was also lifted and we can now go here. So all the devotees of our father Black Nazarene you can come here anytime our Father Black Nazarene is waiting for you. Like the story of the prodigal son he will wait for you open arm and accept you just repent and be a good person.

I finally visited Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Metro Manila. Always seen it thru tv or any platform of social media. I've felt sincerely grateful, happy and blessed. I went there alone, from Parañaque to Baclaran then taking ride thru LRT1 drop to Carriedo station which cost Php20 only(LRT fare). From Carriedo station walked 5-10 min going to Church. Tips for not to get lost every travel, must search and check the area or destination first. God Bless ❤️

This church have a lot of devotee so be ready for crowd. Please be careful with people who would aggressively ask you to buy some religious relics for donation. Do not get fooled.

Update❗2021 Simbang Gabi, Christmas and New Year's Eve Mass Schedule (as of Dec 14) Dec 15 to 23 - Simbang Gabi (Evening Mass): 7:00pm and 8:00pm Dec 16 to 24 - Misa de Gallo: 4:00am and 5:00am Dec 24 - Christmas Eve Mass: 9:00pm Dec 25 - Christmas Day: Morning - 5am, 6am, 7am, 8am, 9am, and 10am Afternoon: 12pm, 130pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm Dec 31 - New Year's Eve Mass: 8:00pm only Live streaming of masses is also available online. 😊 Let's not lose the tradition and the opportunity to express our gratitude to God for the year that was. =============== Some reminders from a weekly devotee: - safest paid parking lot is located at Quinta Market. This is a newly renovated place which now looks like a tiny mall. They have 24/7 paid parking at the 2nd floor. - all mass attendees need to proceed at Carriedo area where you have to fall in line and wait for the church officers to give you a contact tracing form. You will see the yellow markings on the street once u reach there. - all fully vaccinated must show their vaccination card before you will be given a contact tracing form - those who are partially/not yet vaccinated, your line is on the right side (when facing the church). Sometimes they will only allow you for 'padungaw' depending on the amount of crowd for the day - earliest mass is at 5am, and there's no mass at 11am. Mass resumes at 12nn then 130pm in the afternoon - bring your own pen & wear comfortable clothes as you might fall in line for about 30mins or more - as of nov 7, 2021 church capacity has been increased (4 persons per row) so better be early to secure a seat - buy your religious items before going inside. They will bless them at the end of each mass by going to your designated seats - wear mask at all times and bring your faceshield. The church's health & safety protocol is very strict. Hope this helps. All the effort, sweat, and battling the usual crowd of Manila will be all worth it after you attended the mass. It will bring you the joy you crave, and the humility you need. ❤

The home of the black nazareno. Crowded surroundings. You can hear surrounding noises even when you are inside the church. But still too many devotees love to visit this old church. Beware if you visit here, there are too many pickpockets roaming around looking for targets.

I am a Catholic and every Holy Place I go is a five star for me. So please disregard my stars as this is given subjectively. My last visit was 20 years ago! It's all the same so far. Probably so many improvements inside the church but not so much change in the vicinity. Mass schedule - hourly. Face mask is still required although nobody is strictly checking. Still, it's best you bring one with you. Parking - glad we found a spot! It's beside Mercury store. 50 pesos per hour.

Majestic church! Lots of pews and rather crowded, but it still feels peaceful. Beautiful altar. There exists an orderly system for crowd control. Lots of vendors outside selling candles and figurines.

Nice and huge basilica. The outside looks as grand as the inside. There were lots of devotees praying when I visited. Easy location as well, near the LRT station. Just outside the church, there are also many small street side stall selling candles and items for prayer

Ah, the iconic Quiapo Church. Majestic and impressive indeed, just like you've seen on TV. Stepping inside, you're greeted with a throng of devotees, filling the space with their prayers and reverence. Outside the church compound is a bustling area, teeming with vendors and various activities, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. It's definitely a must-visit spot, but a word of caution: amidst the hustle and bustle, keep your guard up as there are unfortunately many scammers in the area. But overall, the Quiapo Church offers a profound and culturally rich experience that's worth exploring.

You can feel the holiness. Observing safety protocol. My only worry is on the distancing on the pews. When the one seating at the back and the one in front is still seating, there ia no distancing anymore.

After years of it being closed due to the Pandemic, last Friday (April 8, 2022), the church finally opened the "Pahalik" sa Paa ni Hesus Nazareno. I took the train from LRT Marikina to Recto, the rain was pouring hard and I was drenched on it. When I was on the Padasal Section of the church (left side if you are facing the church), church ladies were calling out people telling them that it has opened again. I took the chance, I was the last in line so I was kind of excited. compared to the pahalik before that will only let you swipe for a second and send you down right away, I had more time with Jesus and it was immaculate.

The Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, widely known as the Quiapo Church is one of the most famous basilicas in the metro. It holds in it the Black Nazarene, a statue of Jesus Christ carrying a cross that is said to be miraculous. The Quiapo church is also considered as the church of the masses as it is described as “Kanlungan ng mga Mahihirap."

Located in the heart of Manila, Quiapo Church is a place of spiritual significance and cultural heritage. Its striking façade, adorned with intricate details and towering spires, captures the attention of visitors from afar. Stepping inside, one is immediately enveloped in a sense of reverence and history. The interior of Quiapo Church is awe-inspiring, with its high ceilings, grand arches, and ornate decorations. The atmosphere is both solemn and vibrant, as worshippers come to pay homage to the Black Nazarene, a revered icon believed to perform miracles. The church's rich history dates back to the Spanish colonial era, and it has since become a symbol of faith and devotion for Filipinos from all walks of life. The surrounding area, known as Quiapo, buzzes with activity, offering a glimpse into Manila's bustling street life and cultural diversity. Despite its age, Quiapo Church remains a beacon of spirituality and a testament to the enduring faith of the Filipino people. Whether you're a devout Catholic or a curious traveler, a visit to Quiapo Church is an experience not to be missed.

Nothing beats the divine and peaceful feeling when you are inside the Basilica. Church personnel are strictly enforcing social/physical distancing and limiting the number of people inside the church. They observe hand hygiene of goers including wearing of masks and face shield. People are cooperative.

There is continuously a mass in this church specially on Fridays. First friday of the month is special for those devoted to this church. Vendors sell candles, herbs, flowers and religious articles outside this church. There is a parking lot which is usually full and it is not recommended to leave your car unattended. Nearby are all sorts of stores and the local market. The church is good for praying and contemplating. It has a black cross with A figure of Jesus nailed to it, the only remnant of the old burnt church.

The haven of the Black Nazarene is located at the heart of Plaza Miranda in Quiapo. Although it becomes particularly hectic in the afternoons as devotees heading home drop by to say their prayers or hear the afternoon mass. In spite of people walking here and there, the inside of the church will embrace you with a mixed feeling of devotion, humility, surrender and hope. WEhn you enter the church, the great feeling of rush truns into a blur as you soak on deep prayer mode. And feeling of rush comes back as you step out of the church. You should go and feel it for yourself. -- and share your exeprience here.

I'm always amazed and awe-inspired with the myriads of stories of faith, hope, and devotion to the Black Nazarene that deeply rooted back to our Spanish Colonial Era. I don't consider Quiapo Church as it is per se, but also, a vital spiritual hospital to me because I go here regularly to take my Sacrament of Confession and pray fervently to Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno, as if He is infront of me, while I open up my own heart to Him. In these trying times, may the structure of this old and historic church, endured the best and worst of our times, may serve as an inspiration for us to keep on moving forward, while strengthening our faith to the Lord, amidst all the hardships, setbacks, discouragement, confusion, and doubt. Amen.

Considered to be one of the main Catholic centres and churches of Metro Manila, this place and the general area it is located in is always packed with people. What's interesting is that it's a stone's throw away from the Muslim Centre. Parking is difficult here and walking on foot is recommended but you need to be careful as there are plenty of pickpockets in the area.

Home of the miraculous Black Nazarene, Quiapo Church in which, known as the Church of the Poor. The church in Baroque style with its decorative ornamentation found on its facade and precast concrete. A Baroque interior and dome. Fridays, a friday of devotion, where devotees are flooding to venerate the image of the Black Nazarene. People line up to touch or kiss the Nazareth's feet, locally called as Pahalik or as you may wipe handkerchief to the image.

Try to visit this place when there isn’t a Mass on. Had heard of this place since I was a child and thought it was worth a visit on the list of sightseeing things to do in Manila. A little disappointed that it a mass was on at the time of our visit as we were not able to visit the statue of the Black Nazarene up close. Despite that, it was a good atmosphere there and really interesting to see daily life in the Philippines. Not sure it is definitely worth another visit but I would like to see the procession of the Black Nazarene when it is on.

Good, many officer and staff of the church are accommodating and really looking out for the people around the area. One civilian has passed out and urgently assisted by wheelchair of the staffs. They also guided the people to lineup. There are police officers also around the area. Just too crowded due to many business markets around the church and many people cant easily move or pass through the streets.

At this point in my life, once you step into this place even at the longest sight of your eyes from the church you feel the lightness of heart and the sincerity of those who prayed and asked for prayers for the fulfillment of every dream and goal not only for themselves but also for the many devotees.

My heart is always peaceful after every visit to this church. Always full of people praying & buying stuff from stalls outside the church.

One of the popular shrines in Filipina. Plenty of visitors make a spiritual journey to this place. The interior of the Basilica is very amazing. There's also a statue of John The Baptist outside the Basilica because this church is presented to the St. John The Baptist for his patronage.
