Contrary to what I thought, this was not built by the Romans, but by the third Reich. It was used as a place of gathering and propaganda. But nowadays it's a peaceful place and a good hiking spot. There is a nice view of the city and you can spend some time admitting the scenery.

Good place to take photos. The scenery serves as beautiful backdrop. One has a really nice view over Heidelberg from several other view points and towers around the site. It's also a good place to take a long walk to and just rest on the stairs. Really nice for taking children out and let them explore nature and jump up the stairs.

Breathtaking. I love history and this was very cool. A real aura of power here I think in the little construction details

A must in Heidelberg if you have the time to climb to the hill, there is also a bus that reaches the biergarten. I recommend to go down via Philosophenweg at sunset.

Good hike to the top to reach the amphitheatre or you can take a bus and miss out on the views of the city. Incredible acoustics are fun to play around with.

Not a bad location shame the signs are are all in German will have to look online to see what it was about. The road up is horrible I think a cobblestone street is smoother. Worth is for the views of the castle from the tower just before.

It's OK. Some nice view, nothing too exciting though. There is a bus (connection 38 from Hans-Thoma-Platz) that drives to that place however only from May to November.

Must visit place, if you are planning heidelberg for atleast 3 days. To reach out, a bit if trekking is needed. But the path to go up, it's amazing to trek. 3 stars, because it's just nothing there which amuses you. And also it's not well maintained, for example there were 2 water clogs near the arena and the stairs were filled with grasses. So, if you consider yourself a historian, then you will worth it. Or else, it will jus give you a feel of open theater same like other. But still the trek was total worth it.

An old amphitheatre in ruin can be reached by a short hike from philosophers way. Nice place to chill out offers you a great view of the beautiful Heidelberg city with the Neckar river and the castle. A must visit place in Heidelberg. Ideal location for group picnics in a sunny day.

Fine architecture is always fine architecture, regardless of it's history.
