Called in here today having walked up and down dale from Motorhome Depot, whilst our PVC was being repaired. The walk was worth it. Lovely lady behind bar, Phoebe, gave our two dogs a drink as soon as we walked in. Unfortunately, didn’t have any fish for the “fish and chips” so only 4⭐️s. Prices really good in here compared to Lincoln. Pub was not busy at 1.30pm but noticed that Phoebe busied herself cleaning in the bar area. Hope her boss appreciates her. UPDATE: owner replied as soon as I posted my review. When we pulled up pub on Google, there was a video of a couple dancing to Northern Soul. We love Northern Soul and, if you let us know when your next event is and we can park our small motorhome in your car park for the night, we will ensure we get as many people as we can to attend🤗

Amazing food. The menu ante massive so everything is cooked perfectly. Had a rump steak cooked blue!!! Really impressed with it, little fat and gristle on it. Hat off to the chef!!! Can't wait to try the slow roasted beef and fresh vegetables on there Sunday dinner's!!! 😋

Had the Mega mixed grill. Simply put, it was the best restaurant meal I have ever had and believe me I've had a few. Under new management with a new menu . Another plus was a separate menu for gluten free for my wife ,which meant you don't have to trawl through the whole menu searching for the little Gf sign. Definitely be back.

I went with the family for lunch when we arrived the team were very welcoming and friendly. The management met and even exceeded expectations which you dont see in many places now days so it was refreshing to see. When the food arrived the presentation was Incredible as was the taste. Everyone enjoyed there meals which made my experience even better. The desserts were incredible aswell I would also say value for money was absolutely incredible I will be more than happy to recommend this place to anyone and will certainly be returning again. I think the new management team will do well hear and I wish them all the best.

Approached the bar, with 5 handpulls available. No brewery emblems available. When bar staffed questioned,"What cask beers do you have", I was treated with a blank look and a don't think we have any comment. I had a glass of coke and a packet of crisps. Charged £3.80 which I think was a rip off.

Absolutely diabolical, we visited for breakfast with Santa, and it was an absolute shambles. NEVER AGAIN!! We arrived unaware of what was for breakfast, as the poster just stated breakfast with Santa,(breakfast is a wide range of things). When we asked for a menu we were told it's a small breakfast, no other choices! No dietary requirements considered! When we asked for ingredients a list wasn't available causing our son to have an allergic reaction, as the young girl working on her own must of passed the children a breakfast whilst I was speaking to a female manager. Kids are going to pick at foods, when they are placed Infront of them, as they are unaware of dangers of ingredients! Yes some of the food was eaten as they are kids however the food was awful and most was left and some untouched! But still refused a refund, the children didn't even get to see Santa, as we left due to terrible customer service, unorganised event and putting my child in harm! Disgusting! Hot drinks machine not working either yet it was a breakfast, and when someone else asked if hot drinks could be brought in as they wanted a coffee with their breakfast this was also refused. We ended up going back, due to the allergic reaction of my son and asking to speak to someone higher than him, he became high rate, I told him he was incompetent and he ran off in the back to phone the police. Police arrived and could see our frustration, we hadn't done anything wrong just wanted to get in touch with someone else due to his error and putting my child in harm! We was not the only one complaining, and the manger has no customer service skills at all! All he can do is make up false accusations! The photo added of the breakfast is what was served to one of the other children (we asked for no egg) so this is what they got, other than it had toast on it which he ate with ketchup, do you blame a 5 year old for eating a slice of toast when he was starving as he was wanting his breakfast!! Yet they are it all 🙄. Really looks eaten there!

Lovely Christmas evening meal with family. Great, friendly service, food cannot be faulted. Would highly recommend. We often nip in for a visit and meal on a regular basis.

First time here today with the children the pub looked friendly and very well presented and clean , the bar staff was friendly and tendered to our every need servers name was Lauren. the food was well presented and hot!! The hand battered fish was lovely my youngest enjoyed her chicken Nuggets and chips my eldest had Southern fried hunters chicken which was really nice will 100% be visiting again very good quality for the price

Me and my husband have come in for something to eat off the new menu on arrival we was greeted by a lovely lady called Pam who served us with our drinks and took our order we had jackets potato’s with various fillings and side salad the presentation was amazing. All round brilliant customer service and a great experience we will definitely be coming back again!

Well worth a visit. From young to old, even the 4 legged variety are made wellcome. I've visited the pub with my 94 year old mum, we were made to feel most welcome. The menu catered for both myself and my mum, who has a smaller appetite. Excellent customer service. The pub was spotlessly clean and also has a disabled toilet /baby changing room which made it so much easier for my mum, as she's in a wheelchair. Will definitely be returning and I'll be recommending to friends and family. 10 out of 10

Good Draught beers nice locals. Great atmosphere. And even comfortable outside. Honestly my biggest gripe is the place is too nice to appreciate properly 😂

Had a lovely meal here with family. Great menu choices including gluten free and kids meals. Our burgers were very tasty! Very clean, friendly pub with plenty of sports on the TVs.

i come here often as it’s a local pub, the staff are always lovely however i’d like to mention one young lady who’s name i believe is lucy. In all our experience we’ve never been served by such a well mannered and polite young lady. The people raising her have done a brilliant job, i believe a very important part of dining is the staff, and she definitely made our experience 10x better, will definitely be returning.

The Cockle has been the one constant in our social life. Starting as long back as the 80's through to the present day. A fabulous pub with a great atmosphere, and a safe place to meet friends & family of all ages. We've celebrated weddings, new arrivals & sadly to say goodbye to those gone too soon. The Cockle has everything, a good bar, delicious food & live entertainment. Keep up the good work, you're doing great 👍

Been going in here since I was a teenager. Seen landlords and managers come and go. Design changes too. Moved away 20+yrs ago but always visit when I'm home. This time I have to say it wasn't the same. The atmosphere has changed and it was reflected by the pub being empty.

Not a bad place at all clean looking .. toilets maybe need looking at more often .. safe and locals all lovely.. nice to pop in for a quick pint .. do food and it looked hot and nice but we didn't have any

We didn't actually have our meal at the cockle due to a Covid outbreak. The manager kindly rang us advising and said she can get us into another venue which was the same distance away. She was so sorry about what had happened. With that in mind nothing spoiled our little family meal of 6, we still had a great time and Xmas meal. Thankyou.

Sir john cockle have been amazing since we have been coming in only living up the road it is a great local great atmosphere great landlady and landlord we couldn't ask for any better..nothing is too much trouble for these guys formed a great bond and the staff are so warm friendly and welcoming makes us want to come back and bring friends and family all the time and the food is amazing !!! Made my birthday extra special always go above and beyond !! Big shout out to you guys your great and doing an amazing job !!

Went here for lunch with my wife and have to say it was probably best steak in a pub by far great atmosphere friendly staff. And the new landlord and landlady were great!!! Will definitely be returning soon!!!

I tried the new menu at the weekend & it was beautiful - we both had chicken burgers and we both really enjoyed it. my only thing i would've loved was to be more accommodating when i asked to upgrade my fries to dirty fries on my burger. but regardless, I have loved coming to this pub since i was 18 years old. super friendly and welcoming pub for all. the cockle team are one to be proud of, always providing entertainment and offers to keep things fun alongside a excellent local pub for a quick pint after work 😁

Called up very last minute for a table for 8 people. Was sorted straight away. Food was very nice and came out in good timing. No complaints whatsoever. The lady serving us, didn't get her name unfortunately, was very very nice too. Couldn't have done more for us! Will be revisiting 👍👍👍👍👍

The pub has a very welcoming atmosphere, as do the staff and new management. The pub is kept very clean and in a very tidy manner and is overall a nice place to spend an evening.
