Lovely local pub serving pub grub. Friendly and welcoming staff. Rated 3 stars due to it looking quite run down. We regularly visit and the windows really need some attention. When new owners took over, the inside was re decorated but the widows had only been painted over. We have had instances where it was raining heavily and water was leaking in through the wooden frames. They are all rotten and need to be addressed. The extra outdoor seating area at the front looked lovely during the pandemic when they set it up. Now the canopy has disappeared for some reason and it doesn’t appear to have been very well maintained.

Fantastic pub. Great atmosphere and a great selection of Beers. The menu has lots of choices. Pub classics two for 11.49 really good value. If you are into football there's lots of TV with sky sports. The staff are lovely and really helpful and knowledgeable about the Beers. They do sun roast too. Great pub if you are in the area I recommend it highly. The Oak tree is a Greene king pub so they do accept friends and family discount codes.

Wow. Total disaster and what a bad experience. Booked Boxing Day lunch for 10 during October and checked several times thereafter, ‘just to make sure’ as online booking failed a few times. Called pub and emailed numerous times but to no avail. Eventually manager called and explained that online was down and they did not have our booking. Booked food orders again verbally. Then on Christmas Day we received panicking call from pub to establish correct order. Arrived at 1.15 Boxing Day and basic mediocre starters randomly appeared (not together) over 20 minute period which was tasteless drab unappetising greasy ‘pub grub’. Almost two hours after booking time and after several visits to bar to ask where are main courses, these eventually arrived which were so so bad. Dry slabs of turkey, soggy sprouts, cold mashy roast potatoes which were obviously frozen cooked before, rock hard chunk of stuffing, congealed cold gravy all delivered on cold plates. My sons Hunter Chicken was just as bad and totally inedible. I refused mine straightaway as did one other of our party. We decided to throw in towel and here and then and not risk the desserts. (Christmas) Hats off to struggling staff and assistant manager who refunded whole bill as she accepted our experience was a grim one. Staff very pleasant but appeared to be very short staffed. Sadly quite common with GK pubs. As Nickelback would say ‘Never Again’. In all honesty the post McDonalds replacement was infinity better and far quicker. Grim Boxing Day lunch which was as bad as the mould in gents loos. Something has to be done. Over and Out.

I love going to the oak tree as it's on my way home from work. As well as frequently visiting on a weekend. There's always a friendly atmosphere and the staff are great. Would highly recommend

Wow, how this nice pub has gone down hill. It used to be a regular pit stop back in the 00 and 10's. Recently went with a party on 9 for a birthday meal and it was one of the worst experiences I've had at a pub in the last 5 years. Booked table not ready, we had to put tables and move chairs ourselves. Missing cutlery on the table. No mixed grill on the menu any more. 4 out of the 9 food orders arrived wrong (two miss cooked meats, one missing gravy boat, one missing hunters upgrade). Onion rings missing across all meals, said they had no onion rings (either get your stock correct or there's a Farmfoods a short distance on Oak Tree Lane, go buy a few bags... It's not rocket science). Two steaks were incorrectly cooked, and one ended up being full of fat and gristle so had to be returned. This meant we had one member of the party sat there watching the others eat. By the time the replacement arrived everyone else had finished. It really soured the birthday vibe and it made us feel quite awkward. Some of the items are minor and I would have not even mentioned them if they were isolated... but together they add up to major failings, and it did put a downer on what was meant to be a nice family birthday meal. No apologies for the mistakes, no offer of reparations for the missing items or mistakes. There seems little attention to detail, and getting food orders so wrong is a major failing. I guess it's a top down management issue, Greene King you need to do better. On the surface, based on my last experience this pub appears as now very poor and makes the brand look bad. Get it sorted. My advice would be avoid this place, try somewhere else. **edit for response** Thanks for the reply. Let me respond to your comments. I understand the menu might be out of the Oak Trees control, the lack of mixed grill was aimed at Greene King and their menu choices, not aimed at the Oak Tree directly. A mixed grill is a pub staple dish and poor it is not included. I see the excuse of allergies as the reason not buy products elsewhere as weak (but I understand it might be a Greene King directive and out of your control). I am sure the onion rings you serve contain no more of the FSA regulated 14 allergens you are legally required to inform customers of, than the labelled Farmfoods onion rings, but that aside... it is within your control to make sure you have enough of an ingredient that MANY of your dish's require? And at the least, should one of your dishes be incomplete due to lack of ingredients maybe offer to discount that dish by a proportionate amount or offer a different side, I would have been more than happy with some garlic mushrooms or chicken wings instead of the missing onion rings. Your waiting staff did apologise numerous times on the night, but when you have heard sorry many times, it just feels like a hollow platitude, almost like they are used to say it and its on autopilot, one mistake is sorry, four+ mistakes is incompetence. Is it acceptable to have so many mistakes and your staff not to inform the management on the night, even if just to let them know they had major issues with service tonight with a customer? If the manager on the night popped over and apologised, maybe offered some free deserts or drinks for the mistakes and say they will do better next time, this would not only have made our birthday party less disappointing, but it would have been a much different review, one that showed there were issues, but the management were on the ball, awesome and sorted it out. You are in the hospitality trade after all... maybe try to be more proactive and do better when the mistakes and problems are occurring, instead of trying to firefight when you happen to get a less than glowing review? I am happy to discuss this with you as I know you need to know where something went wrong so to stop it from happening again. If you are interested, please edit your reply and let me know who you are, "response from the owner" on a Google review reply doesn't help much when I am trying to get in contact with a specific person.

We have eaten at the Oak Tree on numerous occasions and have always been more than happy with the food and service. Until today Monday 3rd October. We were told there was a 45 minute wait for food. After 90 minutes we asked when we could expect our meals, bearing in mind the table that ordered after us had received & consumed their meal. We were told it was being plated. 4 out of 5 meals arrived the 5th had to be chased twice more and arrived when 4 had finished eating. Totally unacceptable. We were offered free drinks or deserts, which we had ordered & already paid for. We had a refund for deserts which were then cancelled! The deserts eventually were reordered. I do not blame the waiting staff who tried hard, or the bar staff who tried to help in the kitchen. But Greene King need to remember that customer satisfaction is all in an area with so many other eating places. I do not know if we will risk a repeat after tonight.

Went to the oak tree on the 03/09/23 lovely bar staff very helpful & friendly, however working away from home we went to get some food after work to find the kitchen had closed early so had to settle for whatever the kitchen could provide, a standard chicken burger which was okay... better than nothing lol, but as the staff was so kind and done whatever they could to help we went back to following evening for food, this time the kitchen was open but the food again was very poor, all the chicken was very dry & over cooked & the mac & cheese was as though it had been sat for hours, so food wouldn't recommend but bar staff are very friendly & always willing to assist where possible, want a pint & chat go for it, looking for food I would avoid 👍

Some of the staff make you feel like it's a effort to serve you and two or three of them are always happy to serve the pubs ok for a pit stop that's about it

The food was ok, but it took ages to arrive and not very busy hate to think how long we would be waiting if it was a busy time, not 7 pm.

Nice Food, not enough staff on, due to showing england football match staff were run off their feet, waited ages at the bar to be served, and drinks ordered through the app for table service took along time to arrive

Knew this pub 50 yrs ago ! When I was very young . Family orientated and obviously long standing . Amazing to see a place that has stood the test of time . Very friendly , community based, tidy , good food . Was born just down the road and passing through to Mansfield Town , was drawn to it and am glad I called in . Had a great lunch and sat looking at all the pictures etc talking mostly 😀

Pub looking lovely and festive, just popped in to pay for my Xmas party and can't wait to celebrate with family and friends. Nice to know that they have amazon prime too ready for the Xmas football fixtures! Great cask ale selection that are obviously selected to best suit the season!

Popped in for a couple of drinks during the week. Quite a popular pub as it seemed on the day, a few were having a drink, some having a bite to eat. Seemed to be an after work thing, plus many tables reserved for dinner. The pub has a good layout, semi separated into sections, slightly more orientated for food than drink. But it's very in the vane of a opened out traditional style of pub, which has been the flavour fo most pubs for some time. All in all recommended, prices are in the mid range, so enjoy!

Entered today at 1.04, got our meal at 2.30. This is not good service, lots of people around us saying they wont be back. They need kitchen help asap. It was also very cold, dont think there was any heat on. Its a shame as my friend and i visit regularly as its usually good value for money.

The food was pretty good and the prices were great! 2 for 11.50 on the pub classics was great value and the portions were good. Has plenty of tvs all over with the football and F1 on and the atmosphere was good on a saturday afternoon! Will definitely come again :)

Food is always good at this place, it's also decent value for money. The one niggle I had with my recent visit is that I was asked to move tables because a woman had "requested" the table I was sat at. So mid-meal I was asked to move. However, the staff were very apologetic about it so I chose not to make it a big deal.

We had a lovely lunch here. I was very impressed with the senior menu that my parents ate from. Really good value and the food was plentiful and came out very hot.

The pub has a warm, welcoming vibe and has plenty of tables. Nicely decorated, clean and tidy. The staff are helpful and friendly. However the food is mediocre unfortunately but this is the same for all Greene King venues I have visited. Very limited dessert menu. I had the steak and kidney suet pudding which was hard in some places probably due to being microwaved, bullet peas which were bland and powdered mash potato which was unpalatable. A real disappointment to be honest but it was cheap 2 x meals for around £10.98 I think so what did I expect!

Disgusting customer service walked straight past me at the bar when I went to order to speak to someone on a table! There was no acknowledgement whatsoever. The correct thing to do would have been to acknowledge the customer by saying something like “I will be with you in two mins” Not just flat ignore!

This was our first time for a meal at the Oak Tree. We had lunch and all three of us were delighted. Well cooked food at a reasonable price. Lovely friendly staff. Well done. We will be visiting again.

Shocking to be honest for our local pub and has been decent for food before but since this “better menu” they’ve just gone down hill massively. Saturday nights aren’t what you would expect from this pub, you can tell people aren’t bothered about it anymore. How hard is it to read a food ticket in the kitchen and get the meal right, we didn’t ask for ridiculous specifics, but a missing garlic bread does NOT take the same amount of time to come out as it takes to finish your meal. The staff just don’t show any politeness, you’d atleast expect a “sorry for your wait” when they bring it out. Very disappointed.

Being a Greene King, the food is reasonably priced and what would you expect for pub grub. The pub decor is charming and the seating is plentiful even though this is one of the smaller Greene Kings in the area. The outdoor seating is on the slightly more basic side but perfect if you're taking your dog along with you. Sports are all shown here. If you're looking for somewhere that is cheap and cheerful, this is the place! Overall, it's ok, not bad at all though!
