Just been in DaveS Place which we use quite often for family fish n chips. Today it was just me and I ordered large battered sausage, chips and gravy open, and a can of pop, the price £6.10, paid this no problem. While waiting I noticed the lunchtime specials menu, sure enough large battered sausage, chips, any sauce (gravy included) any can of pop , served between 12 - 2pm £3.99. It was 1-45pm so I asked why I’d been charged £6.10 and not £3.99, the reply, I never asked for the special, I asked is it exactly the same and the lady said yes, so I asked again why I’d not been charged £3.99, Dave’s son then interjects and also says “you didn’t ask for it from the specials board”. Even though it’s the same meal as the deal?? Totally unfair, a rip off and myself and my family will never use them again. Sue’s at the bottom of Skerry hill from now on. Poor poor customer service Dave from your staff. Portion size not great either. Paul Evans

Asked for a sausage, chips and peas, special,, was told don’t do that, ok I’ll have sausage chips and peas,£4.30, looked on the board, sausage chips fishcakes and a sauce £4,50, so I said,, i can get a fishcakes for 20p then? No you don’t ask for that,, (ok I’ll have that then,) they had made my order up,, they only had to put on a fishcake, but the arrogant owner said throw that in the bin and give him his new order, {now the new order comes in a bigger tray but the peas come in a carton} so when I was given my new order,, I tipped the peas out the carton, put some chips in the carton and asked them to put them in the bin too, (to many chips Dave’s head) what a muppet,

Dave's place chip shop is a local chip shop of mine there are three local ones to where I live. I've come to Dave's chip shop today and as usual the chips taste fantastic as well does the battered sausage. It is 11:40am and even though I'm early for dinner these chips are freshly cooked chips unlike some chip shops where they warm up last nights chips to sell.

The Fish & Chips were brilliant this time . Although the last time we had them they weren't up to there usual standard. But will definitely go to them again. We have to get the Gluten free.

Been going to Dave's place for years (maybe 10+) but lately like every thing else it's gone up in price BUT the portions are tiny nowadays! Chips are still half decent but cannot justify paying over the odds when they're so many other chippys just as nice, cheaper but actually give you decent portions

Over priced. Went in for the first time. The woman who served me was absolutely rude. Not even a thank you. Bearing in mind I had my autistic child with me. Chips was greasy too. Never again.

Excellent chippy. First time going and absolutely amazing food. Staff were amazing and service was first class 👏

My parents always came here for a takeaway, never had any issues and was always bang on, yet yesterday the Donner meat made them swell and unable to breathe. They’re not allergic to anything and have never had any allergies. They’ve never had this problem before here but will be going elsewhere as that’s not safe.

I've been going to George's Tradition for years due to proximity but since moving to Mansfield, Dave's Place has been the best place to go. Great selection and deals. Just wish they'd do the Leak, Cheese and Potato Pukka Pie 😉

The gluten free batter on the. Fish was heavenly, staff have good banter and really friendly.

Great food, polite staff, quick service. Beautiful food. Had a random chippy night due to wife defrosting some chicken that looked like it would poison me. Great time. Had tray of mixed meat and chips...epic

Visited as we'd read about the gluten free menu as it daughter is coeliac and has missed having a chippy tea!😌 She felt very special when she got her own bag which contained her food all of which was sealed with gluten free stickers. I was very impressed! all of the food was great Inc non gluten free! Wasn't given or we left our drink which was included with the kids boxed meal but we'll definitely be back!

Been going here since before Christmas and was happy until tonight when we ordered a large chips which was size of a small and a large cod which was the size of a mini fish,so my husband went to sue's chippy at the bottom of skerry hill and got a large cod which is pictured below with Dave's place apparent large cod,even the staff in Sue's said we had been ripped off

Very disappointed this evening me and my partner went tonight and I asked for a hawiaan burger which I explained on how to do one to get back and my partners fish and chips was all separate not in a box together and my hawiaan burger had little to no sauce on it there was no cheese on the burger and my partners fish batter was very greasy all we have been offered is to take food back and recieve our money back which I'm sorry is not good enough

Great selection and quality of food, not many chippies do gluten free and the selection of gf food is more than usual here and my partner who is a celiac has had no issues, great place 👌

In my humble opinion, the best traditional fish & Chip shop in Mansfield. Great fresh fish and tasty chips. A good range of choice. Consistently good and efficient friendly service. Very clean and easy access and parking. Highly recommended.

Tried the gluten free chips and chicken pieces and wasn’t disappointed, the chicken bits were big, I couldn’t eat it all as I was too full. Will definitely return and can highly recommend for those that need gluten free.

Food cooked was night place was clean and spotless. Staff are very frequently too. Down side is the cost £18.50 for two large fish and chips when there chip shops near by doing it for far less. I gave it four stars. But the price is expensive

Just had the kebab combo meal and it’s fantastic value. Plenty of meat, chips and salad. The salad is really fresh too! Dave was kind enough to help me carry my order to the car. Fantastic service and we will definitely order again.
