Maralal international derby is hosted each year by the Samburu county government in partnership with the local community and several stake holders. The event is held in Samburu county and entails camel race, a marathon, cycling and wheelchair race. It also attracts 4by4 enthusiasts who travel from as far as Nairobi to attend the event and explore the beautiful areas like view of the great rift valley from Malaso point and also the wildlife In the area.

Interesting event where you get to learn alot about the samburu culture... we had a lovely time till our car got broken into and our bags stolen...for anyone planning to travel for the event please be cautious of pick pockets and thieves who break in to tourist cars and Van's...

There's nothing international about this event.Not a single tourist van spotted. Very poor organization by the Samburu county,this year we ran on diesel generators due to unpaid power bills. The only left sponsors are The Grevys Zebra ,NRT & Boma.
